We were just looking and were amazed how clean and organized the shelter was. There are only two women that work there and I was amazed. We rescued a female pit mix named Claire. I loved the name so we didn't change it. She is a great companion. We love her. She is SO smart.

You can tell they take care of there kitties because when you walk into the rooms they are in it doesn’t smell. They were able to answer all of our questions and where very nice people. This is rose we got her while we were there.

Freaking worst experience of my life. We found a puppy pitbull 3 months ago and she started becoming aggressive towards our other dogs. I called Perry Southern Rescue and the first thing I asked is if they are at capacity. The woman on the other side of the phone was like well...for what kind of dog....I explained the situation and she was like oh no, we can't take her....why would u pass her on to someone else....we have a hundred and something dogs (with a very rude attitude...)I about cursed her out, because that's the first freaking thing I asked....and to answer ur question as to why we would pass her off....bc we love her so much and she is so precious and my heart can't handle putting her down....but thanks to ur rude response, I feel like that's my only option.

The volunteers at FOPAS are doing the best they can on a shoestring budget. They need your monetary donations for their very existence! Please Donate!12/2/23 Still plugging along with the lifesaving love of animals that need a home. They had a float in the parade today built with the same love by these selfless volunteers!4/28/24 - Visited today to load up various metal and aluminum cans from their outdoor bin for recycling at the nearest scrap yard, all in the effort to provide much needed funds for the care of the many cats and dogs that they have for adoption.

We adopted two dogs from here, Kent and Juba. We are so happy to have them become a part of our family! The adoption process was smooth, easy, and very well organized, as far as paperwork goes.

The people here are extremely friendly. I love how well they care for the animals and work so hard to find them good homes. They have done a great thing setting up shop in the middle of blue ridge. Tons of people, including me and my family, stop just to see the beautiful dogs they have.

I found a poor dear starving calico cat. Posted lost but no one claimed her. I could not keep the sweet kitty because I had already my legal limit. FOPAS was gracious enough to help me put her up for adoption. The facilities was very clean and pet friendly with no odors. I was impressed and relieved that she would be well taken care of. Thank you FOPAS, may you be blessed.

U understand they want the dogs to go to a loving home but they want to know alot of information about you and your other dogs I've had several dogsi just didn't keep a good record of vet visits. They were not taken to the vet yearly bc we knew someone who could check out dogs anytime that was a veterinarian. Like I said I know people are not always meant to have nor do they need a dog they think they can take care of. Maybe a visit to the home would be enough idk. When we had fogs you didn't take them yearly just as needed. Vets are so expensive everytime I ever took mine since 2013 it would be over $400. I know the shelters get a better rate and vets will do a yearly checkup if you adopt for less. But regular customers its high.maybe vets should be a little less so the people who want a pet can afford to have there's looked after by a dr too. Its not fair for only pets w insurance and pets who's owners have successful careers are the only ones who can have a healthy pet. They need an indigent care system. Pets are good for people. Most people living in poverty would be great pet owners. May even be more successful bc of a pet. But they can't afford one bc of pet Healthcare adoption fees and so on. But can afford to feed it. And would take awesome care of a pet, most better than non-poverty owners. I'm rambling now...sorry. I just thought that much info was a little too much however I dont see the neglected ones that come in so my opinion could be changed and that's prob the reason for their policy. Thanks 😊

Before you head out be aware that there is a 5 to 10 day waiting period not listed on the site. Drove an hour to be told our application hadn't even been looked at yet.

I have been looking at a puppy fora week and was told they don't hold so I afferdto wait until he was ready and would visit every Saturday and came back and the day I said I was just to be told that someone had preadopted him so I played with him for the last time and cryed after I bounded with him right away so I was so sad and mad cause I offer to pay then and just bring him home when he's ready so I would not recommend👎

Adopted a kitten 3 weeks ago who was seen by their vet less than 48 hours prior to going home with us...a clean bill of health, according to vet...but NO, NO.... not a healthy kitty!! We had to return the kitten and have had to go to Dr and are currently on prescription meds for illness transmitted to us by kitten. Somebody dropped the ball and we are paying dearly and painfully. Don't take a pet home without having it checked by your trusted vet. Lots of success stories but don't be one of the unsuccessful stories...especially with children at home...a terribly sad and expensive situation.

We adopted our second dog (previously Hawk- now Artoo) from FOPAS and not only was he the best addition to our family but the volunteers that helped us were incredibly kind and loving. It was obvious that they had cared very deeply for him while he was in their care, and were both sad (because he is so special) and happy (because he found a family) to see him go. Thank you so much to all those that work so hard at FOPAS, you truly are angels!

They rescue, fix, and have vetted animals needing to find their furever homes. They also have a small donation shop inside where you can purchase donated items. 100% of proceeds go back into helpore animals find homes. Great volunteers that will help you with any questions as best as they can. Will donate my stuff here from now on instead of Goodwill. Like the saying "Adopt, don't shop!"
