It's a great place to go that is close to my job where I work at but I was little bit upset today because I checked Google and it said it closes at 6:00 pm. I pull up at 5:51 and the guy was locking the gate so that's the only reason why I'm leaving a two star review. Crappy season is here and now I have to go to the gas station bait shop on the other side of Hall County on my way home just so I can get my minnows which they cost a lot more at a place I hate having to go to because they're minnows don't last as long!

Definitely 5 stars here. If your fishing Lanier from the south to the NORTH. They have EVERYTHING. the juiciest baits and colors. Absolutely recommend this place right between my old middle school and old high-school West Hall

Great tackle store I have been going here for a long time. It is in the middle of a name change. They are about to start carrying kayaks for sale also. They will be offering all the top manufacturers. Hobie, Jackson Kayak and Old Town will all be up for sale here. Also the tackle and bait will still be available.

Hands down the best bait and tackle shop around the Lake Lanier area period. I'll drive straight past another bait shop to go see the guys down at Oakwood Bait and Tackle. They have everything need and all, but what makes them great is the customer service and the interaction. They love to answer questions and teach fishing strategy, tips, why's/how's/when's. All that. Lenny, behind the counter today, taught me more abt bass fishing Lanier in our 15 min than I've learned in MONTHS bingeing YouTube, reading blogs/articles, time on the water, and asking around. I mean, I had to have talked the guy's ear completely off asking every question I could think of regarding fall bass fishing, but he answered everything knowledgeably in detail with a great attitude as if he'd known me for years. He even came around the counter and taught me some knots he uses and recommended... even got into fishing theory and bass behavior here in Lanier. So far I'm batting 100 with my drop-by experiences. You'll leave understanding any equipment you purchase, and even find out what they use themselves. I love this place. Try it out!

One of the last family owned bait shops around. Dillon and his staff are always friendly and offer great advice on how and where to catch fish. From stripers to spots they will put you on them with the correct tackle.

Always open and bait is very fresh. Very generous bait portions. I reviewed them a while ago. I give them five stars usually. I go every Sunday before I hit my "secret spot." This time I was bringing the kids and wanted crickets for bream. They were out so I got red wigglers. I should have checked them because the entire container of worms were dead when I got to the lake which was at Longwood Park only 15 mins away. Not only were the worms dead but unusable, they were mush. Not recently dead and almost impossibleto hook without breaking apart. Even had a little mold growing on the top of the dirt. I've experienced this before with buying old worms from Walmart. I should have checked before I left, but then again, so should they. Also the size of the shiner seems to change from week to week. This isnt really a complaint because I guess they have to sell them how they get them but I ordered a dozen medium shiner and half dozen large this week. Last week i ordered the same; the medium last week were the size of what they sold me for large this week and I didn't have any really large ones like normal. Almost like I got small and medium even though I paid for medium and large. Or maybe even.all medium but definitely not as large as normal. I will still give them 5 stars because this is rare amd they usually have the freshest bait, give large portions and the bait lives all day and even can be kept for days after...just wanted to remind you to check your bait before you leave to make sure they are consistent.

I've never had a bad experience at this store. Their bait is always good quality, and the store owner went the extra mile to get me hooked up with a bait tank at the last second before a weekend trip to west point. Highly recommended!

They got all the tackle you need. The price for those is minnows are a bit pricey. Remember the minnow size large is XL and medium is large. Small is still small.

Nice place, friendly staff very informative about what's going in in the lake. Think I saw everything you should need there to have a great time getting your line stretched out for just about every species you'd want to catch.
