We adopted a one year old small breed dog here. First and most importantly the staff got his online photo posted very quickly after he arrived.Their online application was straight forward, and both times I called, the nice lady returned my call promptly. I hate that our dog's first family couldn't keep him. I'm thankful he landed here where the staff cares about matching dogs to their new families.

50+ kennels and more donated supplies than I've ever seen in a humane society building. There's no reason to be killing these dogs the way they do. Maby more resources should be put towards adoption rather than city vehicles and a town green.

i hope the staff gets rest & has a better attitude. may need to clear house. they all had the worst attitudes when asked simple questions about fees. then they don’t own up to what they tell you. all about making their money with ridiculous charges. would give 0 stars if i could.

I was late getting there but they still took care of me.(It was their lunchtime.) The guys that worked around there came up while I was visiting the dog. They both seemed equally happy to see each other and they kept saying what a happy boy he was. And he's now my happy boy! Meet Diesel, Vin Diesel, I'll be calling him Vinny. We took a 3 mile hike today and we both loved it. Thanks to Walton Co. animal control!

Giving rescued dogs a new home is one of the most important jobs and rather than helping them you are euthanizing them with no serious health concerns. This is not right

I put in an application for a dog and reached out because I was worried about losing the chance to meet/adopt her and they called immediately and were eager to help. They knew about the dog and told me a little about her. We were able to get an appointment the next day to meet the dog. They brought her out to a space where she could be off leash to play and interact. We knew immediately and they brought the paperwork and handled the payment while we played with her. I only wish they had more availability because I think this can limit some families from being able to adopt. When we left they gave us a bag of toys and treats to take home to get her settled in at her new home. They also have arrangements with local vets to help with the cost of spaying/neutering. We are so thankful for this shelter helping us find our fur baby!

I adopted over the years and will continue to adopt fur babies from this location. They are friendly and professional caring for the welfare of those they have at their facility.

Its animal control. I've adopted two dogs from the shelter now. They're well taken care of while there, and the staff does everything in their power to get the fur babies adopted out. The staff has always been helpful and worked with me as much as possible.

I donated some towels and other things to the shelter. The officers and staff were friendly and happy to receive the donations. If you are looking for a dog or cat, please check them out. Adopt, don't shop! These fur babies need good and loving forever homes.

I didn’t like not really being helped at all. We walked in and there was nothing said. No hello or anything. So I just opened the door and went on back. I was lost because I knew nothing.I finally figured out how to view the animals. They have free items you can get out in the lobby. I was able to get my husky 1 doggy pad. He destroyed it that night but it was 1 more than I had I guess.

We had a stray that had 4 kittens in our carport, they were about 6 weeks old, I borrowed a cat trap and they assured me that it couldn’t hurt them in any way (which lead me to believe they cared about the animals I was bringing in) I caught the mama cat and brought her in and told them I’d be right back with her kittens and that I’m sure they’re still feeding from her. It took me an hour to catch her 4 kittens and I brought them up immediately and asked if they would be placed with the mama to feed. They then informed me that the mama cat was already put down and that’s what the plan was for the kittens as well, I had absolutely no clue that was going to happen so I took the kittens and now I have no idea what to do with them and I’m just heart broken for them. The woman had absolutely no empathy whatsoever. I hope I never have to go back.

Must update office hours, google and door shows open time as 7:30 am, myself and three other people got there at 8:19am, doors and lights off, closed doors. People’s time wasted.

Professional visit to drop off an unfortunate litter of kittens, a neighborhood cat had had. Was offered an opportunity to have the cat spayed, which I had been to Paradox Clinic before and worked out great. Hope we don't need Animal Control in the future but nice to know those at the desk are friends people.

I just drove 2 hours to Walton county to adopt a full blooded German Shepherd. It was a smooth and easy process. Savannah, Denise and Brooke were easy to deal with and answered all my questions. All of the officers came out to say goodbye to the dog. What a great bunch of folks.

I adopted an adorable puppy, but the staff didn't seem to know about whether the puppy had been given shots or not. Plus he smelled badly and I asked if they could bathe him and they said no. Not very professional.

'If you need traps, we got em. If you need a trapper, you're it. If you want quality care or compassion, try again. We need a lot more of your money.' Thank you, WCAC, for everything that you do.

If I could do zero stars I would….this place is HORRIBLE! They kill animals as soon as they receive them if they THINK the pet can’t be adopted. We dropped off a 7 month old kitten that had kitties we were able to Foster out. The family fostering agreed to also Foster mama kitty within 10 mins of dropping off mama kitty. We turned around to go back and get her (4 miles down the road) and immediately tried calling them to tell them we were coming right back to pick her back up…they would NOT answer the phone. When my husband arrived back at the shelter, less than 10 mins after dropping her off, she was dead! They said, you should have called. We both called no less than 10 times in 10 minutes and they didn’t answer the phone. They DON’T care about animals…they are inhuman and I uncaring. Very sad how they deal with animals!

I called and told them about 30+ abandoned cats and kittens. The people renting from my dad left abruptly and left all of the cats. I called Walton County animal control and told them about the issue. The lady on the phone said that my dad was going to have to catch the cats and bring them in. First off, isn't that the job of animal control? Second, my dad is a 60 year old man and is not capable of catching 30 cats. I understand covid made a lot of people lazy because a lot of people did not have to do their job. but it's time to get back to work and start doing your job again.

2/23/2023 Visited and spoke to the staff about two dogs. Got good informative responses. Cleanliness of building/dog rooms was outstanding.

I never went there! And I won’t. The advertising about “ this animal may be euthanized “ turned me off. It was a small kitten and they wanted $50.00. Nothing was said about it being “No Kill” quite the contrary Or else false advertising! No shots, no spaying! Some people are on limited income and can’t afford the money. If you have EVER had to euthanize an animal that was like your child and held it while it died that comment was heartbreaking to say the least. I am crying now, I only rated it so I could comment.

It's Animal Control so it's hard to give them the 5. There just doing their job. The staff is always been very helpful. They do their best with the community around them to get their pets adopted. Very fair pricing, you get are certificate for rabies so that's $15. love my dogs I've got from there.

They seemed more helpful a couple years ago. The last couple weeks they don't have any traps(I'm already trapping on my dime and gas to bring critters in). Had to buy my own trap. When I visit, 3 or 4 people at the window just stare at me and say "No" when I ask if they can pick up animals that I trap. Tip to county: All those vehicles marked animal control do more than take you to lunch.

Posted hours say they open at 7:30am but it's actually 8am. Someone needs to take some initiative; change the damn sign and update Google.

Workers are very helpful and understanding when you have to make the decision to surrender your pet because you have no other choice they do not make you feel guilty or as if you are a bad person for having to do so everyone in the office was very sweet helpful and kind

They were rude and disrespectful. The woman wouldn't get off her cell phone to speak with me. I waited for 15 minutes for her to end this call that was obviously to someone to giggle with. Anyway it's terrible. I feel really bad for the animals there too. They are unsupervised. I was able to just walk in there an go anywhere in there. Terrible.

If you take in a feral cat, A fur baby that you’ve caught that someone left behind when they moved etc. or a fur baby that is very old or has a medical condition that is bad or long term. Or if the are in anyway not social or aggressive towards people. You are wasting your time taking them there. They will be considered not adoptable and will be euthanized bc they want to focus on the ones that can be or are healthy. So please don’t think if you drop a baby there it’s going to end up in a forever home. Chances are it won’t see the next day 💔😩 THIS IS A KILL SHELTER I wish I could give them a zero!!!!

I got Maggie in March of 2018. I kept going back until I found the right dog. I am so happy with her & she with me. She is a chihuahua mix. She was 3 years old, so they said. I had her fixed right away. She immediately crawled under the blankets to sleep with me & has done so every nite since. She is very smart & loving. I am so happy I have her. Thank you Walton County Animal Shelter Staff for your help.

Don't bother calling in your order so it will be ready when you get there to pick it up. They won't start preparing it until you get there & pay for it. They food is GREAT!!! The parking lot is always full & the drive thru is usually backed up to the road. For the amount of food you get, the price is great also!

Wish I could give them a ZERO. Second time I've been to this shelter, and both times I was turned away. First time they closed at 12 noon, I was 5 minutes after and the staff couldn't give 5 min to possibly save a dog. Second time, I checked hours ahead of time, Google said they were open at 9 am, I get there at 9:30, "Sorry, you can't view until 2:00 pm." No flexibility, and 3 workers were sitting at the desk apparently doing nothing. Waste of tax payers money and there appears to be NO motivation to save an animals life. My heart goes out to any animal stuck in this shelter.
