We stayed for a night on our way home from vacation. The weather wasn't great but Julie and the staff more than made up for that!!! So friendly helpful and accommodating! We packed a lot of fun into a few hours kayaking & hiking the beautiful trails. The site are large and beautiful.Would have loved to see the sunrise over the lake but the rain had other plans.Definitely a pinned location for travel ❤️Playground: We had no kids to play on it but it looked like fun.Restrooms: Where very and heatedDog-friendliness: Paco really enjoyed the walking trails...the coyots singing at night not so much.Picnic area: We didn't venture over but looked lovely from the Kayak.

Very quiet small campground! SO peaceful with a pretty lake, almost all campsites are on the lake! We were in #4. Avoid #1&2, as they aren’t on the water. Bathhouse was nice. Office staff was great! Julie led a fantastic tour of the grist mill, one of the highlights of our weekend! We drove to nearby Warthen and saw the oldest jail in America, amazing! We ate at Rocket Food and Fuel for breakfast, generous portions, biscuit was super! Also ate at Crossroads Bque, nice folks and good food! Shopped at a few interesting stores in Gibson! Really nice weekend! Thank you, Hamburg!!

Quiet hidden gem of a state park. The park ranger at the office is so nice and ready to answer any questions you may have. Campgrounds are very clean as are the bathrooms and other common areas. Every Saturday they run the dam powered (water) grits mill.Restrooms: Very cleanDog-friendliness: Keep your dog on a leash and all is well.

Very relaxing visit. Nearly all sites are on the lake and were very level. Could have been luck of the draw, but no boom boom stereos, no loud exhaust trucks idling for an hour and nobody with those ridiculous bright lights on their campers that irritate everybody else all night long. Very quiet and peaceful all weekend.Kept an eye out for the alligators but never saw any. We did see white birds and a couple snakes swimming in the lake.We did the tour of the mill, which was very interesting, but they weren't operating it at this time (9/23)

Julie is Amazing!!! my wife and I came to this park early Sunday morning and it was quite a drive. Julie is the park ranger who is in the welcome center and she could not have been more welcoming, energetics, and excited to see us! We took the tour of the mill, and it was absolutely fascinating. The relics that are preserved here are truly phenomenal and it’s unbelievable that it still works to this very day. We saw a huge amount of wildlife as well. We saw a black rat snake, a gray heron And of course lots of squirrels and fish.Rentals for water equipment are very reasonable, and would definitely like to come back! Cannot say enough about how good of a tour guide Julie was.Restrooms were super clean as well!

Beautiful little campground! Spaces are a good size. Each has a fireplace, table, grill and pole to hang a lantern. Spots are gravel and mostly level. The sunrise on the lake is very pretty! Most spots are directly on the lake. There is a bath house and playground but I don't know much about them as we didn't use them. This is a very nice place and I recommend it if you are looking in the area.

Very knowledgeable, passionate and enthusiastic about the history here and it showed!Playground: There is a kids playground on the campgrounds that's well maintained.Restrooms: The restrooms and facilities were all clean and in working orderPicnic area: Several areas to walk to with a picnic table, group shelters or pavilions. All clean and in working order.

Very nice park. Campground is very clean. Our site, #28 was level, nice fire ring and picnic table. Electricity limited to 30 amp service.Beware of squirrels. They are very comfortable around people. One chewed through the fuel line of a camper's truck this morning. Both truck and trailer had to be towed out.

This park is absolutely beautiful!! We stayed for 4 days in campsite 19 & had a wonderful view & time. We could walk right behind our camper and fish. We went during the week and there were maybe 5 campers. It filled up Friday though. Fishing was great we caught plenty of cat fish, and blue gill. Our kids(8,6,2) loved the play ground and riding their bikes. We did the tour of the mill & it was very interesting and Julie was so nice. Phone service was very limited, I have Verizon. They do have boat rentals starting at $10. The trading post has very limited items and the close store is 15-20 minutes away. The bath house was kinda far from our site, but we had a golf cart. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in site 8 which was a 50 amp back-in site. There are 30 sites, all are waterfront. There are pull-through sites as well as buddy site. Bathhouse was clean and hot showers. Also, they have a laundromat. Definitely will visit again

We stopped in at Hamburg while we were staying up the road at AH Stephens State Park. The grist mill was so cool and beautiful. I loved seeing the lake and the little country store and grist mill all right there together. It's a lovely little park if you're looking for a relaxing camping trip or a family picnic day. But it's not the best park if you're looking to fill your stay with activities. There were boat rentals, but not much for hiking, there was no playground besides what was for the campers, and you can't swim because of aligators. As far as the day use area, it only had some picnic shelters and a small trail that led around the lake for only a couple hundred feet.

This is a hidden gem. Super clean, small. Very nice people. The lady in the office that checked us in, sorry don't know her name, was Great. She helped us with everything. I'm a Veteran with a service connected disability. She was on point with everything the state provides me. Super helpful. Sites are easy to get in. All have great views of the lake. Facilities clean and warm. Grounds well kept. They are open year around. Great Job DNR putting the right people in place.

Very peaceful and quiet campground. The grist mill and dam was very interesting. Even though we didn't do any fishing, we saw several others fishing around the lake, and had heard that the fishing is good here. Bathrooms were very clean, but a little outdated. All in all, we had a very enjoyable camping trip here!

Beautiful park! Staff was very friendly and helpful.Great water views. Well maintained. laundry facility, restrooms sparkling! $1.50per load to wash and $1.50 to dry. The camphosts keep this park immaculate. There are also gray water dump sites within the campground.Tons of birds if you like that, I do! Beautiful sunrises. Moon rises over the lake. I can't say enough positive things about this park.Playground: Located near the campground.Restrooms: Very clean and spacious. 2 showers with doors and curtains. I prefer that setup. There are also 2 private restrooms with sink, toilet and shower.Dog-friendliness: Typical state park rules. Clean up after your pets.

This hidden gem is tucked away in Washington County. There’s an old water powered gristmill that’s still operational and used to grind corn. Lake Hamburg is beautiful, especially during the fall months. Lots to see and do at the park. Hiking, kayaking, fishing, boating, running, cycling. Love the huge vibrant trees. Campground is awesome. Had a great time. A must see. 🎣🦌 🚴🏾♀️🛶🌳

Nice park with trails and picnic areas. The parking slips were overrun with spiders, though, so I just slipped a five-dollar bill into the stand and hoped not to get ticketed

Beautiful sites, kind folks but no place to swim due to alligators. Fishing isn't good unless you have or rent a pricey small jon boat. No resturants, no TV or radio unless you get good wifi on your phone. Bugs, bugs, bugs! Alligator picture included. Keep dogs away from banks.

Me and my family has been coming to this location for years to fish ( 3 to 4 times a week) and it saddens me on the way they have let the park become. For the last 2 years or so, Several trees have fallen over in the water, including power lines that makes it impossible for bank fishing or fishing along the edge in some places. They also keep one side locked near the playground, for what ever reason to fish. I would love to see them keep the grass cut as well ( most importantly for kids and the safety of others)Especially near the water, picnic tables and the walking trails ( at least once a week) knowing there’s a lot of wildlife(snakes). Hamburg use to be our favorite places to visit but now I’m having second thoughts! Hamburg is definitely in need of some improvement! Hopefully soon :(
