Not too welcoming ... maybe better lighting would improve that?. Deli looks sketchy, I avoided it. Meats look great, produce ok. Not a huge selection, but adequate for necessities. A bit overpriced. Check out woman carried on personal conversation with co-worker, never said one word to me... NOT good customer relations.

Friendly. Convenient. Clean.Their meat department is excellent.Their shelves are well stocked. While their selection of items is limited compared to large grocery stores, I can almost always find what I need for us between trips to Athens.It's great having a local grocery store to depend on.

A good selection of fruits and vegetables at really good prices. Every now and then they get interesting products and their deli is fantastic. I really love how I'm treated like a friend by those who work there. Always a pleasant experience.

If you live in the Crawford-Lexington area or farther out, this store is a godsend for basic necessities. To those for whom Athens is equally convenient, it's hardly "destination shopping." The meat case is surprisingly good-- the one thing Clarence Bell takes seriously at this location. Every other department is "meh" except Produce, which is pitiful and a dilemma for the store. Fresh veggies sell slowly here and deteriorate on the shelf. If they tossed out bad stuff like they should they'd have to face facts and get rid of Produce entirely-- but then it's not a "real" grocery store. This is true in ALL Bell's stores, which is a local family chain. As such, they have a unique opportunity to stop purchasing produce from Atlanta wholesalers and partner creatively with local CSA-type farmers, of which there are plenty with lots of potential for more. That could be win-win for both parties and make Bell's produce super-quality, "neato," and a major draw.

I have mixed input for this place. The meat cuts are fantastic! It's great for convenience if you need something in a pinch. Limited variety of items. Not always the cleanest. Prices are high. Staff is friendly. Parking... well park wherever because it does not really matter. Park in the fire lane if you want. Park along the curb...never been to a place where spaces are optional .

My favorite locally-owned and locally-operated old fashioned grocery store. Friendly, helpful people, wide aisles compared to modern grocers and never any self check or long lines to check out.

Nice folk, decent selection for being so rural. Good meat, always fresh. Produce could be fresher, but again, small town store. Ain't going to complain they ain't got fifty kinds of tofu and fresh watercress.

Despite not stocking many things I typically buy, this store is clean, well stocked, and the customer service is stellar. We moved here from a town with a bells and I hated it. This one though.... Makes me love shopping there. Small town hospitality at it's best!

I love shopping at Bells, they have everything you need except the brand of cigarettes I smoke. I'm always having to go somewhere else to purchase my cigarettes and it would be so much easier if I could get them while I'm there. They are not an off brand, so I really don't understand why I can't get them. But as far as food goes I love their meat department. It's the best!

The service here will make you go anywhere else. They employ cashiers that are cold and don't talk to you like they even want to be there. I'll never go back. Wal-Mart is even better than them. And I don't like Wal-Mart. At all.

This is a very nice neighborhood grocery store. I've stopped here before but stopped today to find something I had been unsuccessful at finding at Ingles and Walmart...raw peanuts. I live in Georgia! Why is it so difficult to find raw peanuts at stores in Georgia?! Anyway, I found plenty here and other items I needed. Very friendly staff, sparkling clean store, fresh produce, and meats. I only deducted 1 star because it is a smaller store than most better known stores but it's still a great store with the inventory they have.

The food is horrible, produce always seems too old to sell 🙄. Before I really got comfortable in the neighborhood I thought it would be nice. Now I travel back to Athens for fresh vegetables and fruit.

This store is one of 2 in Athens. Not a big chainstore. They have a good selection of most things plus things like hog jowls; prices are very good; some produce could be fresher but overall I like to shop here.

Bell's is an awesome grocery store. Their staff is very friendly. Their meat dept has the best meats than any other grocery store and the meat dept is very clean, always stocked and the staff has always been very helpful everytime I needed help with something. So overall Bell's is the best!!!!!!!

No customer service, they care not one iota. Bought pork chops on sale there, and the back of the chops looked like they had been dropped in dirt!! I took them back and they gave me HALF my money back. Some of the checkout ladies are super rude. I only go there in a direction emergency. Plus they have no bottled water selections, mostly the lowest of base items.

Best meats around, friendly service. Its a hometown family owned chain, if you don't want friendly service " how's ya mama and them " keep going to the robotic non caring chains, where most of their meats, vegetables and produce come in pre packaged.

I love how they cater to the locals.The produce selection often contains locally grown goods.This means a lot to me as a consumer.They may not be as big as some of their competitors but I always come out saving and with fresh produce that was not frozen before I bought it.I also will not buy my meats anywhere else.Staff is always helpful and friendly and prices are always fair.

I've always enjoyed visiting home and going to the local grocery store, Bells. The people there are the nicest folks you'll come to know. They have almost everything you need because we sometimes just don't want to travel to Walmart in Athens!

I only buy my meats from Bells. Meat is fresh and reasonably priced. The butcher is always accommodating. Other things are trickier. I have a haed time finding some things, others arent available at my location.
