We stopped here on our way home to Atlanta from a trip back from NC. It was about 2:30 on a Sunday, so it was a later lunch. The place is very cute and mom n’ pop style. We were greeted promptly! The staff was quiet but kind. I ordered a turkey sandwich and a chicken salad sandwich on sourdough. They were both delicious and very well made! It came with a side of chips (lays) and a pickle. They had some desserts on display and I chose a slice of pound cake. It was some of the best pound cake I’ve ever had - moist and flavorful! We sat and enjoyed it at the picnic tables down by the river. It made for the perfect lunch and break from driving. I will be coming back!

Love this place, food and area! We will go way out of our way to come here! The homemade food is delicious and fresh. The desserts are awesome. The ambiance is great. I love the different eating areas, whether inside, outside on the porch, or across the street in their pavilion, watching the river. The gift shop(in the back and upstairs) is great too...I always find something I have to have. The whole place is so homey and relaxing. They make my absolute favorite sandwich (the harvest), and it's soooo yummy! Melt in your mouth! The slightly salty, creamy, warm goat cheese paired with the thin pieces of the sweet/tart granny Smith apples and the apple butter are so genius! The deviled eggs are delicious, too. Gotta get those as your side or appetizer. Great people. Also, you've got to check out their to-go freezer. They have homemade and delicious lasagna, pot pies, shepherds pie, soups, etc. in there....

This stop was the hidden gem of our mountains of GA and NC vacation. We were staving and the pickings were lean in the area so we stopped at this very cute little place to try and find some food. We found a wonderful lunch counter style eating establishment with a cute little shop. The folks running it were very sweat, wonderful, southern ladies who know how to make great food and provided excellent customer service. We were very impressed and wished we could spend even longer there (even the bathroom was adorable and very clean…a rarity when you travel). As a bonus, the store also owns a little park across the river where you can sit by a nice little river and eat in the shade. Very picturesque and chill when you have been driving all over creation and hiking all day. Highly recommend stopping in if you are anywhere nearby.

Quaint and comfy restaurant. We sat on the front porch and enjoyed lunch after hiking Tallulah Gorge. The lady who took our order was very helpful with guiding us through the menu. The sandwiches we had were both really good (tuna melt and PB&J for my 9 yr old). The river across the street makes for peaceful scenery. Don't skip giving this place some of your time and money for a memorable lunch. Oh yeah, and ask for an extra pickle spear....they're delicious!

Great place in Lakemont with good hand mixed foods. Freshly prepared salads and quiches and more. Service was great and attentative. Very friendly people. Atmosphere was great with old store feel and real vinyl playing. I would reocmmen if you are in the area to stop in.

Spending the week at a nearby cabin for Thanksgiving week and my daughter baking us an apple pie before realizing we had no sugar.Heading towards a grocery store (20 min drive and saw this on the way).The store wasn’t opened yet but the owner came to the door and welcomed me in. She didn’t have sugar for sale but wouldn’t let me go without filling a Tupperware for me and refused to take my $.Next year we’ll just come here first and buy our pies and pastries and jams. Great little place!!

If you’re ever in the area stop by for lunch. The Harvest Sandwich is excellent. Followed by coffee and a slice of cake makes for a great afternoon.

Very cute inside like stepping back in time, historic. Delicious sandwiches cant wait to get home and try the chocolate cake we picked up for dessert, friendly staff. Eat in or outside on their deck or at a cute park along the river across the street.

DELICIOUS!!! My husband and I stopped here for lunch after a morning hike in the area. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and he got the quiche with deviled eggs. Everything was delicious - you can tell it was cooked and prepared with care, attention, and quality ingredients. We sat on the outside patio to eat which is such a lovely space. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area!

Stopped by for lunch. Ordered a couple of sandwiches and a cilantro lime slaw. The sandwiches were good. The workers were friendly. The reason for the 3 stars is because the girl who took our order had no knowledge of anything on the menu, she wasn't able to answer any questions about the menu . The menu itself was not clear if the sandwiches came with drinks, chips ect.. so we were surprised to receive chips with our sandwiches. The girl had asked if we wanted drinks and we declined as we thought they were extra but now I'm wondering if the $20.00 we paid for two ham sandwiches were supposed to include drinks as well. Idk as the menu does not clarify.Also we did not receive a cilantro lime slaw. It was a mayo slaw.The merchandise in the store was also overpriced.Good sandwiches though 👌

The Open Door was eclectic and super cool; it almost felt like you were going back into time. Menu options offered variety and the beverage menu was exceptional. We visited during the week so it was very quiet but quaint. Loved the decor and layout. We will definitely revisit when we’re driving back to the mountains. Great place!

Must go! Hidden gem. Great old fashioned "boutique like" sandwich spot. Great history, delicious sandwiches and very cozy. Meatloaf sandwich was delish.
