My family and I stayed for 1 night at the river chalet, and we will definitely be returning! Very kid friendly, dog friendly and all around great location! Literally smack in the middle of lots of nearby attractions. Tim was especially helpful and made the campground feel secure and well kept! :) Lots of options to keep the kiddos busy!

We have visited more than once. Great customer service, choice of sites and accommodations, fairly priced and worth a visit. Great place to camp without being too close or too far from town. Kid friendly. Would recommend to friends and family.

We happened upon this on our travels and way home to Florida. It is a true hidden gem! Melissa was very accommodating on the phone, and when we arrived, Tim met us, gave us a tour, and offered us a great spot that he had “up his sleeve “! He checked us in very quickly, so we still had time to get out and see the falls and gave us some good recommendations of falls to visit! We brought our dogs and it was perfect! The next morning, Irene, the camp host, came out greeted us at the spacious clubhouse, on the river, and was pleasant and inquired as to our night at the campsite. We can’t wait to come back!!

What an amazing place! We just stayed for the first time and there isn’t a single complaint that I could make. The river was beautiful, the campground was very clean. The playground was in excellent condition and very fun. It includes a building with furniture to sit, chalk walls to draw, coloring books and markers. As well as electricity. The is another large riverside building full of games for the family! Comes with a view! The staff is excellent. So friendly and helpful with anything you may need.I hate to tell everybody about this place and it get too popular but here it is.A must try campground. Very family friendly and safe.Easily accessible off HWY 441. You will hear some mild road noise but overall still feel as if you’re “far out”.P.s. Enjoy!Thank you Ga River Campground for a great weekend!

This was our first visit and we loved it! Everything was wonderful - staff, site and location. We found it to be very peaceful, and quiet, a great getaway for us and the pups. The first morning after our arrival, we realized that we had not packed half and half for our coffee (half and half is a necessity for us). We did not have a vehicle with our RV, therefore couldn't run out to the store, so the owners and staff came to our rescue with plenty of half and half to save our morning. There is also a wonderful flower nursery near the entrance with not only plants but some other cool things. We came home with a Big Foot weathervane, a chicken stain glass windchime, and a succulent plant. Thank you to Melissa, Tim, Irene, and Chris for a great stay!

I was excited to camp here for my birthday next weekend however I mistakenly booked for this weekend and didn’t realize until today. I tried to reschedule for next weekend and was told they have availability but I would have to pay another $84. I realize it was my mistake and it’s their policy to not offer refunds within 24 hours but I was hoping they’d work with me. Will not book again. Birthday weekend ruined.

Posting before we check out in the morning so I don’t forget because they definitely deserve 5 stars. They have wifi which is a first for us while camping. (It is splotchy but that’s to be expected in the woods, we’re Verizon and still have mostly had 2-3 bars.) When we arrived there was a sign with a number for us to call. (Definitely call earlier in the day to get accommodations made for a later arrival). Tim came and got us from the front and took us right to our sight. There’s supposed to be some storms tonight so he moved us to the sight right next to the one we were supposed to have (which was uncovered) and he put us under one with an awning to put our tent under. Free of charge! He also helped us out with finding the nearest stores so we could go restock our cooler for the rest of our trip. Then to top it all off, we were having trouble keeping our fire going due to the rain and we had ran out of our brush and twigs, he came and chopped up some wood and got it started again for us, and then drove back by a bit later to check that it was still going for us! Loving it here so far and if we ever make it back this way, we will most definitely be checking the availability here first as it’s the best we’ve stayed at all week on our road trip.Other noted things for other frequent campers:We are next to a river but mosquitos don’t seem bad, I haven’t seen any yet but it has been sprinkling off and on.We are also next to a highway so we can hear the traffic constantly for anybody that is a pretty light sleeper. We are both pretty deep sleepers so I don’t see that being an issue for us.We haven’t checked out the showers just yet so hopefully I remember to update this once we do, but the little bathroom shed by our site isn’t bad at all. Obviously it’s camping and not a big state park owned campground so it’s not perfect but considering most of the sites we’ve stayed, it’s pretty clean and it has actual toilets rather than a portable toilet.Food & drinks: We did notice a little cafe and/or bar when we drove through.Noteworthy details: Firewood is $7 per bundle, they do accept card on site and will bring it to you!

We stayed here on our visit to the gorge. It was so close to the state park. The campground was clean, peaceful and we had a river site. Appalachian #15. No complaints! Definitely coming back!

Our campsite was perfect and the check-in service was great! We loved our stay here and can’t wait to come back. :-)Must mention though that there are big spiders (it’s northern GA after all) that come out to hunt at night. Didn’t see any in spring but several in summer—they never got in the tent, though. Just come expecting that & be prepared for it, if that sort of thing bothers you!

This place was awesome! We had a little bump in the road on our vacation and needed a quick place to camp. We came across River Campground. It is super cute. We checked in at 8pm and the owner met us at our site. He was so kind and even brought firewood to our site twice! They have shelters in almost all sites and the bathrooms have hot water and are very clean. I highly recommend this spot!

River campground is a peaceful and clean campground. Appalachian 14 is rustic and great as an affordable option. The campground is a 10 minute drive to town and sets right on the river. This place is the best of both worlds.Nearby activities: There's a river that you can fish and there's a game area for kids along with a playground.

Was a nice campground, we had a river view spot. Make sure you check your site before pulling in, we followed their instructions backing in and ended up over the fire pit. We should have been on more of an angle. Hosts were friendly, we would stay here again.

This is the greatest campground! Being right on the river was the best way to spend Memorial Day Weekend. We brought our small pop-up camper and, and loved that we had our own little deck to keep the dogs enclosed without having to be on a rope. The setup was perfect for cooking, and enjoying the beautiful view.We absolutely loved the concert on Saturday night, the band was amazing! There was also plenty of other entertainment for all ages, including a playground, board games, basketball hoop, tetherball, and ping pong!Highly recommend making the quick drive to Lakemont to visit the cute shops and cafes while you're there. The staff was amazing and so friendly. We will absolutely be back!

This was such a wonderful camp site! The owner and her best friend were amazing from the moment we arrived. I was a little nervous about bringing my 5 month old camping but the cabin we had was perfect for us! We were able to have a good time with the rest of our camping crew while feeling certain that our son was comfortable and safe. My family and I plan to return again next year! We will be telling EVERYONE about this place!

All-in-all, a great choice for a rustic cabin or camping vacay. We chose the cabin for a last minute stay because of the rain. Go in with the right expectations and you'll be very pleased. It is a rustic cabin. It is cute and comfortable and right on the river! The beds could use an update as some springs were poking my back. It was nice arriving on Friday night and sitting, with the windows open, listening to the live music from the community shelter next door. There were some nuisance dogs that woke us quite early both mornings but that isn't the campground's fault, just the inconsiderate campers next to us. :-) During our stay we found the wifi to be unreliable, at best. However the host was very generous in offering for us to use his personal cell phone as a hotspot for a zoom meeting we had to attend. While we appreciated the gesture we chose to try the wifi and were able to attend part of our meeting then used the break in wifi as an excuse to take a hike. :-) The location is fantastic!!! Situated quite near Tallulah Gorge and Black Rock Mountain (and Toccoa Falls and Helen, not far away), it was the perfect home base for hiking all over this gorgeous area! The community area of the campground also had a generous amount of games, though we weren't there long enough to take advantage.

We loved this unique campground right on the river. Low key and well maintained, and a short drive to Tallulah Gorge. Check in with a phone call is easy. The manager delivered firewood to our site, and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. The sites are spaced out and easy to access. Saturday night blue grass band was a bonus.

This campground is a true hidden gem. It is in the perfect location for accessing all the local attractions. The sites are great size, and the shelters were perfect for setting up camp. We loved being right on the river and had quick and easy access to the river for fishing , floating down the river and letting the little ones splash around in the water. The grounds were very clean, the bathrooms and showers were always clean. Melissa is an amazing host. She went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great time. She offered entertainment options for the kids and even sent us home with homemade sausage and biscuits for the road trip! We will definitely be back.

This place became my birthday weekend trip to the mountains last year great location close to things to do and the wineries. Went back again this year and had a very nice and adventurous weekend, the couple who own and run this park are some of the best folks you will find. They make you feel like family they keep the park clean along with the bathrooms. Thank you Melissa and Tim for finding a site for us to park our trailer at. We will see you next year!

Love that you can go down by the river.Pleasantly surprised by the amenities. There are bathrooms with sinks and showers (warm water). Basketball hoop w/Basketball. Lights at the covered camping, trashcan, fire pit, etc. Fire wood was available for a great price. The site itself is pretty good size, with decent privacy from other campers.

Great campground, the rec center was wonderful with a few different camp games that provided a few hours of entertainment. The sites are comfortable with a nice cover that can have tents placed underneath them. The owners are pleasant with lots of great information about the area. They aim to make sure everyone is comfortable while at their grounds. We will be back.

Such an amazing place for the whole family. Camping spots are spacious and the fire pits are lovely, nice covered pavilion with a picnic table on the sites which makes it nice to sit down and enjoy a meal with the family. We made it there for some awesome live music at there outdoor stage, the food and drinks were really well priced! Everyone of the staff were amazing, felt like being around extended family. Everyone was very accomadating and nice. I will definitely be back! My children had a blast playing tether ball, playing in the rec pa killion and canoeing down the river. Thank you for an amazing experience!

I absolutely love this campground. Owners were so nice and let us stay in a different and better spot than we booked for no up charge. They had string lights set up and rocking chairs by the fire pit. It’s honestly a type of “glamping” without paying an arm and a leg. The grounds were clean and quiet. The outdoor shower was a perk for a nice long hot day outside. It’s within a couple miles of Tallulah Gorge and many other places to hike and explore. I will 100% stay here again.

This place is beautiful! Diamond in the rough. Hot showers, bathrooms, and the river views and sounds are what the camping experience is all about. They have a friendly staff, dog friendly place, and plenty of activities for children and families. The rustic decor is pretty neat too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good camping experience.

What a sweet treasure! This is a hidden gem in north Georgia and by far one of our favorite camping locations. Melissa is a wonderful hostess and the grounds are quaint—offering special touches, clean shelters and bathrooms, and property offers the serenity of nature with water access. We came as strangers and left as friends. This is ideal for those seeking a rustic genuine tent camping location with awesome people who are respectful and courteous of one another. So grateful to your family for sharing this with others. We cannot wait to return!
