The area is nice but looks like a dead ecosystem. Not good for fishing, no water birds, no alligators. Just a big lake full of cypress trees, a few small birds and lizards. This is nice but looks there is not law enforcement as the official site pretends. The rule of no motorized boats is broken; I saw a lot of people with them on the lake.A little dirty for a wild area, I found garbage, glass and plastic bottles in the bushes and on the trail.The bait shop is poor, so bring your bait if you want to try fishing.Finally, they pretend the fishing is open 24/24 but they closed the bathrooms at 4pm so if you need to pee you have to use bushes; this is not ok and could put you in danger especialy in the night time.

This is such a gorgeous lake to just come and hang out at. The dock is large and well maintained. I suggest going at around sunset. Maybe an hour or so before. That'll give you time to enjoy the trees and even spot a gator or two! There's also turtles and frogs to look for, and there is a hiking trail as well.

Went there on a Thursday morning in mid-November to rent a canoe. The process was quick, simple, and completely affordable. They did question me about going out in a tandem canoe on my knees all by myself for 3 hours, rather than a kayak, but I'm a canoe loyalist. So I assured them that I knew what I was doing and they didn't argue the point. While on the water, a local gentleman who had been in the shop and was fishing, gave me some great suggestions on where to go. He and I were the only two people I saw on the water the entire time I was there. It was an awesome day of paddling, nature, and quiet solitude that is difficult to find these days!

Beautiful lake for fishing or boating. There is a small walking trail for all ages and pets (probably a quarter mile loop) with a little interactive spot for kids. The dock does has hooks to hold fishing poles

I expected it to be more of a bait and tackle shop. They do have some live bait, but no shiners. One small wall of tackle, and they do sell fishing licenses. If you need supplies, I suggest you buy them before you get there. No ramp fee, which is a plus, and the lake was everything I expected. Watch out for submerged stumps. I hit 2, at an idle so no damage done. Enjoyable day, all in all.

This is one of the prettiest lakes in Georgia. Blackwater with huge Cypress Trees covered with moss. You paddle pout and back so no shuttle and the paddle trip is as short or long as you want to make it.

Free fishing here. Not even a parking fee. Just be sure you have a fishing license. Fresh bait available.

Very beautiful and quiet. Not many bass but we still always catch some. One of the harder lakes to fish in this area.
