After checking out shelters for a few weeks, I'm SO glad I found the Clayton County Humane Society! I showed up as a walk-in and everyone was so welcoming and helpful. It was clear the staff loves what they do — they knew all of their cats by name and every cat seemed happy and cared for! After finding my perfect match, the adoption process for Simba couldn't have been better. Overall a near perfect experience, and I'd definitely adopt here again!

Adopted my sweet baby Mufasa over here. The staff are amazing/sweet and they are very helpful with any question you may have about the animals. They know the pets by heart which is sweet . Come by and get yourself a companionship friend

I first visited CCHS in Feb when my friend adopted her cat, and while there I met and fell in love with one of the puppies they had for adoption. I brought him home last month and he has been such a joy and blessing to my life ❤️ he is so well behaved and just the perfect little addition to the family. CCHS, and especially Ashley, were all a joy to work with and made the adoption process so easy! I have never seen another shelter like CCHS, all the staff truly love and care for these animals like they are children and they treat them so well. They are careful about who they adopt out to and it’s evident they have the safety and best interest of the animals in mind. They are a special group and I’m so thankful I found them! When I decide to adopt another baby, CCHS will be the first place I go ☺️Attaching pictures of my friend’s cat Marjorie and my puppy Archer 💕

My boyfriend and I decided to take a leap and adopt a furry friend into our family. We went to the Clayton County Humane Society and they were so welcoming and helpful. You can tell they care for each and everyone of these pets just by the way they interact with those that work or volunteer there. We were able to adopt our first baby, Chip, with them. The process was easy and fast for us and they helped and guided us on next steps. If we ever decide to add another friend into our family, we will be sure to go to them! Thank you all so much for everything!

Thankful for the Clayton County Animal Shelter! I got my Fudge baby here, as a once returned dog he got a fresh start with me, and I couldn’t be more happy. I’ve been meaning to bring him by!

This place is amazing. I’ve never seen a shelter work so hard to protect the most vulnerable among us. They really care. Ashley helped me and my boyfriend adopt a perfect, sweet little kitten. She is an outstanding and wonderful woman. All the best to CCHS forever! Doing God’s work.

Adopted a sweet chihuahua puppy mutt mix and she is the sweetest! This place makes the most with what they have and the animals were all clean, their crates were clean as well as the floors. Everyone I interacted with were nothing but polite and helpful! These animals come from all walks of life but no matter where they started, they are loved by April and her staff of employees and volunteers!

I’ve heard so much bad about this place on Facebook and no they are not talking about the control officers!! I haven’t been here at all but based off the responses from the owner I wouldn’t dare go here because truth and professionalism is shown by actions not by words. Feel free to respond.😁👍🏾 Also you claim to be no kill but that’s a lie y’all euthanize all the time I’ve heard way to much and seen so much stuff! This shelter is so so pitiful! Feel worse for the fur babies!

We are so happy to have little Diamomd today, she has a chocolate coat and is just adorable. Thank you so much, Ashley!!!. My 12-year-old is so happy. I just want to say that the Humaine Society of Clayton is not affiliated with the other department that catches stray dogs..

Went to visit a certain kitten for 3 months while waiting for a approval of my application. The bald elder man was rude each time we went to visit. And after many times of asking for an update. The said man told me the declined my application weeks ago for putting both inside and outside. No idea why it would be an option. But A HUGE WASTE OF TIME. That same day i went to Atlanta humane society and got a kitten the same day. Don't recommend

My son adopted two dogs from Clayton County Humane Society a few years ago. One had been a stray, the other an owner surrender. CCHS took their time getting to know my son, understand his work situation and then matched him with his two best buddies. CCHS is the best. Don't shop ~ adopt!

We had a wonderful experience with Keith and staff at CCHS!Adopted our sweet, sassy, punky little girl, Daisy Mae, from them in 2017 and we love her so very much.Yes we had to fill out a detailed application, yes they called our vet to check info we provided, yes they called us with questions to get more specifics, but we were thankful they did! It shows THEY CARE where each & every animal is placed. THEY CARE to find the best possible home full of love and regular visits to the vet...monthly heart and flea/tick meds.THEY CARE!When we are ready to adopt again, we know just where to go......Clayton County Humane Society!Thank you for our Daisy Mae 💜

I had a great experience working on our adoption with Ashley, when she can see an owner is committed to adoption she will definitely fight for you. We added brother and sister kitts to our fam and all of us couldn't be happier!! Thank you guys for loving on all of the animals there and not putting them down!😍

My boyfriend and I came here in search of a senior cat. Ashley assisted us and we adopted Sambora. Ashley and the other staff were friendly and clearly love all the pets they care for. We think Sambora will be a perfect addition to our family.

I am usually not one to write a bad review on any establishments, especially a local humane society that has a great cause and care for animals who are in need of homes. However, I am quite disappointed with my experience from this place. My small family and I wanted to adopt a cat. We submitted an application for one we liked and never once received an update regarding the cat. We’ve given follow up calls and left voicemails, and not once have we heard back from this establishment. My complaint here is they were not commutative. If they didn’t think we were a good fit on adopting any animals, they should have given us the decency to let us know, so that we could be aware and could fix whatever problems they think we might have to move on forward. Instead, we were just left with disappointment. Good luck to you guys.

I called this place in regard to a large amount of dogs that were going to be euthanized, I could not leave a message because the phone was either full with messages or something so I called animal control she was the rudest woman when I asked about the dogs that were being euthanized and she told me how would I know this is not the shelter, all I know is a couple of us in New York wanted to help because it said will transport, never heard a thing even sent an email God be with those poor animals

My wife and I adopted a Miniature Schnauzer from this wonderful organization in June of 2014. After seeing all the wonderful, caring and dedicated work they do with all the animals in their care, we felt it necessary to continue to support their efforts through donations of cash and supplies along with sponsoring many of their events during the year. A thorough screening was done on us prior to adoption as it is with all applicants, even though we had owned dogs in the past. This insures that the animals in their care go to responsible furbaby parents and we applaud their efforts to place these animals in the best setting possible. To all the workers and staff of Clayton County Humane Society,, a heartfelt thank you for all you do for these animals in your care and you can expect our further support for many years to come.

In 2020, I adopted a dog for my son from CCHS. His name is Oreo. He is an Aussie Shepherd-Border Collie mix. We absolutely love him!❤ They were thorough with the application process, but it was easy compared to other private non-profit adoption agencies that I checked out. As a new dog owner, they glady answered all of my questions. They gave me all of the guidance needed to continue care for our new family member. He's not only cared for and loved, but spoiled too🤗

My family has adopted three animals from this organization. And my extended family has adopted three more over the years. Clayton County Humane Society takes extremely loving care of the animals in their shelter. It is a smaller shelter run primarily on donations from the local community. Clayton County also has an issue with pitbull overbreeding, dog fighting, and low spay and neuter rates. For these reasons, they are extremely careful with who they adopt to, and keep the animals at the forefront of their decision making. Adopters must demonstrate responsibility with previous pets (like up to date vaccines and heart worm prevention), and be a good family fit for the animal. Although the shelter is older and not as fancy as shelters with a larger donor pool or funding from the county, these animals receive the utmost care and love.

I recently adopted a dog from Clayton County Humane Society. CCHS staff clearly cares about the animals and making sure they find a loving home. Like all applicants, I was screened prior to adoption., but it was a fast process. I really appreciated their patience and talking to me about the different dogs that were available prior to making a decision. I was able to find the right dog for me. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking to adopt!

Keith and his staff at this facility are amazing, professional and kind. They are definitely into making sure these precious animals are well taken care of. Such a nice variety of cats and dogs. I would recommend CCHS to anyone that truly cares about the welfare of animals. A big shout out to aVery organized and professional team of people.

They really tried to help me rehome a lost pet i found. Sadly he was too big and they personally didn’t have the room but they did everything in their power to try to find somebody to take him in so that he wouldn’t go to a kill shelter

The website is spam. Every time I click the link it takes me somewhere else saying I won a prize and that’s also spam. I just went to look at what animals are available without having to go in person first. Why have a website for your shelter and it has nothing to do with your shelter?
