The location is fantastic. The room size was fine.Nevertheless, the bed frames were too squeaky and noisy due to age. They need to be replaced. The mattresses were fine. While we were there, the hotel run out of clean towels, so took a long time to get clean ones, so we had to share a towel since we needed to go out for dinner. The breakfast place which was somewhere else close to the hotel, was not good at all! Although the girls working there were nice and rushed to serve, the food was not fresh and the place, meaning tables and booths needed some serious cleaning. I do hope the new restaurant being built in the hotel will be serving breakfast, so we can stay there again. I know there are working on a new restaurant so I assume that is why the landscaping was not kept up for the time being. On another note, the boardwalk to the beach, is a liability due to the worn out boards sticking up and putting the guest at risk of tripping on them or getting some splinters. Again, it is a great location, there is a potential for the hotel to become a great place if more attention to details is given to it. I do hope these comments help!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Holiday Inn on Jekyll Island. Hailey at the front desk was delightful, one of the best we’ve ever had, so friendly and helpful! KimAnd Dalton at the front desk were also incredibly kind! Our room had a PERFECT view of the ocean, it was clean and spacious. We can’t say enough good about this hotel! They loan bikes for 2 hours free daily, making it super easy to get around the island. They have 2 fire pits on nightly and upstairs Linda, at the coffee shop was the BEST!! She deserves so much happiness and joy, as she spreads it to everyone she talks to! AA++ we look forward to coming back really soon!

we had a great first time there. But there were some thing we found in the room . 1 The bathroom had black mold in the shower we bought cleaner for the shower and cleaned it , note we did not call the front desk on this. 2 their was a small amount of sand near the balcony that never got vacuumed the 6 days we were their . Also we did not call the front desk. 3 The air condition was great till 400pm then it auto set to 75 which made a warm night for it to catch up to cool . we also did not call the front desk. 4 Our room smelled like a wet dog has been in their we got air fresher spray and remove the air filter and the smell went away. There may been need a room that does not have dog in them like the smoking thing in the roomThis was our first time here due to having to go to a water conference . We would reuse this facility next time we need to rebook for anther water conference . We also did like the breakfast tickets so we could stay at the hotel and spend more time on the beach and pool.Nearby activities: plenty of waken and bike trails

We had a wonderful time on our first vacation here. The view from the room was absolutely beautiful right on the beach, with free beach access. The only problem with that it was very hard to reach the front desk they were very busy and never really answered the phone. And we did not get housekeeping everyday we were there unfortunately. Even though we had asked for it. Other than that I would definitely stay there again! And it's 5 minutes away from everything you could do on the island. It was so much fun! My daughter who's five had a great time, and they have a heated outside pool, a kid's pool and a JacuzziNearby activities: Beach, pool, playground, restaurant, bar, coffee shop, mini golf and more.Walkability: We walked to the restaurants that was right next door to the hotel it was very good and very convenient. You can walk to the beach from your hotel room, and they are building a new restaurant/bar already at the pool outside of the hotel.

Booked prior to travel. While booking we were advised that early check in and late check out were available. Even asked us if 12 noon was early enough to check in (We advised yes, that would be awesome!). Upon arrival at 1-130pm however, staff advised us that the room would not be available until 4PM. The room ended up not being ready until after 4PM. We found once we finally were able to check in that the rooms were older looking. AC kept turning off allowing the room to heat up again. (Woke up through out the night to again cut the AC on). The bathrooms need updating!!!! Had an Old shower and a toilet that would not flush! On checkout day we thought we would have the morning to let the kids play at the beach and then check out around Noon to make the trip home. We were now advised that not only was there no early check on but there was also no late check out either. Packed our belongings and left! Although the location is not bad at all we will not be returning to this specific hotel and would not recommend this hotel to anyone else . Especially when the newer Hilton hotel down the road is showing to be cheaper!!Rooms: Rooms left much to be desired! Appeared to be older, never updated rooms. Bathrooms in the rooms need updating and plumbing work, as the toilet would not even flush properly.

How about drop the resort and just call it what it is. A hotel by the ocean. A coffee bar on the third floor is not a lounge. Rooms furniture needs to be updated. The restaurant advertised belongs to another company so no room service or runners. Go ahead and update the pictures on the website to reflect the dilapidated furniture at in and around the entire property. Wouldn’t be bad to repaint the a better part of property either. There is what looks like a pool bar coming in so yes my view this weekend is of construction workers and blue fences. Fun times. At least the restaurant next door is pretty good. Pay the extra 50 bucks and stay at the Westin or the home suites. Other than that it’s great.

After reading endless reviews and looking at the pictures posted online from the hotel’s website, we decided to give it a try during our first visit to Jekyll Island. The lobby looked lovely, so I was hopeful walking into our room. We were instantly greeted with a horrible musty smell. There was a nasty stain on the upholstered bed frame. The walls were gross and dirty in areas in the bathroom and sleeping area. I told my kids it was for two nights and we could survive. That was before we went to the pool. Please look at the pictures posted on the hotel’s website. It was one of the reasons we booked the hotel. It looked beautiful and being right on the ocean, seemed like the perfect place to spend some of our spring break. The pool was brown. The jacuzzi was brown. I am not exaggerating. It was dark enough that you could not see your body if you were in the water. My kids were standing at the pool in swimsuits completely dumbfounded that they spent 12 hours traveling that day to find a poop brown pool in front of them. Being from Michigan, swimming at the end of March outside is unheard of and the only reason we made this area a stop on our road trip was because of the expected 70 degree weather for swimming. Hard to do in a brown pool.We quickly made the decision to switch to a new hotel. The front desk clerk was very kind and immediately made sure to not charge us for our second night, but gave me the card for the manager to contact for a refund for our first night (we literally were there for no more than an hour and only 20 minutes of that was in the room) because she was unable to process one. I reached out and have not heard back (it’s been a few weeks). For $50 more per night, we stayed at the Westin, enjoyed amazing food, a crystal clear heated pool and all in, we spent only a bit more money to sleep in luxury.I am so disappointed by the misrepresentation in pictures as well as the lack of response by management. We will most definitely return to Jekyll Island and have recommended others visit, but to stay away from the Holiday Inn.Noteworthy details: Dirty walls, tiles and bed frames, brown water pool

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had and I’ve stayed at a lot of holiday inns. The rooms smelled bad (I had two because the first was so bad we couldn’t stay in it and the second smelled bad too, but was tolerable). The front desk was almost impossible to communicate with. We called a couple times during our stay for general questions and got put on hold every time. After five minutes of hold you get hung up on. We got hung up on so many times we just ended up walking up to the front desk. Then, upon check out, I accidentally left two dresses in the closet. Figured it out on the way home and tried to call. Guess what?!? Got put on hold. No one ever found my dresses (positive the cleaning staff stole them) and ended up spending another 45 minutes of my life on hold/getting hung up on just to find out they were stolen. One dress was sentimental and I was so upset.I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. There are way better hotels in Jekyll. By the way, notice the manager wrote a response saying it will get fixed to every one of the recent bad reviews, but the service is still terrible. You’d be better off anywhere else.

This is my first time ever writing a review. I have stayed at this hotel since I was a child, before it was even Holiday Inn. My family comes at least once a year, usually twice. For the first time, our experience was AWFUL. There was no wifi. The entire pool area was unavailable which is fine but we were not given notice. The room phone did not work. There were no operating spigots or water hoses outside. Several items in the room, including the remote, were falling apart. Which is a safety hazard with children and batteries. After a day of no amenities, we decided to cancel our stay. It is impossible to have a beach day with children and not be able to rinse your belongings. When I called the front desk to request a cancellation, I had to vacate the room in 14 minutes to not be charged. Due to the high volume of problems, I requested a small leeway, which was denied. I had a 2 year old and 3 year old inside asleep. We gathered our belongings and essentially threw them out the door while housekeeping waited, staring. When I first spoke to the front desk AND when I went to check out, the manager refused to speak to me. I sent three emails through IHG customer service as well who stated the manager would reach out, they did not.It makes me sad to know this hotel is going down hill as it does have arguably the best view for a hotel on the island. Please think twice before booking here! And no need to attach the automatic return comment of how you strive for excellence when no one could even speak to me at the time, although IHG stated it was their policy.

Rooms are out dated and not well maintained. Our room was to be ocean view but you cannot see ocean from first floor unless you walk outside your room and down a walkway. Room had bare essentials. Had to ask for additional towels and the towels appeared to be old and worn out. Water pressure in shower was horrible and water temperature was barely warm and tub drains slow.Would not recommend this hotel and will never stay here again. We come to the island every few years and thought we would try something new. That was a bad decision.Walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors as well. Patio chairs were torn and worn out as well.

The location was amazing. Right on the beach. The pool, fire pit, and nesting areas to watch the ocean were perfect. Prime location. But for a "resort", the rooms were in a sad state. We had some issues with our first room, and eventually were switched to another room, with still some issues. The staff were friendly, but the maintenance guy that tried to resolve our issues, couldn't be anymore friendlier and professional. He truly felt sorry for us and did his best, while stating that our issues might be due to other staff trying to jeopardize our enjoyment by trying to make other staff's jobs more difficult. We weren't sure how to take that comment, but he tried his best to help us. The initial room was musty, extremely smelly, like a thick moldy air that had a salty rotten smell to it. After a few hours realizing that our air conditioner didn't work, we were switched to a different room. It still was a similar issue, but a little better to at least sleep in. The appliances were sad. Like the 30 year old extremely rusty lamps or windows that were extremely dirty. The location was really perfect, it just was obvious that Holiday Inn just never improved a single thing in the rooms since they first opened decades ago. The view was 4 stars, the room was a 1 star.

The room was large (2 nice queen beds, big living room, hot plate, toaster, refrigerator, sink, deck looking out at ocean), but it needed an update (not very clean, big gap in front door, corner had sheetrock knocked off and counter had dust all over). The office has been updated, and the outside area is very spacious. The pool did not look like it was ready to be used. The room charge was $184.00 the first night (weekday), and then there was an amenity fee on top of the room rate of $21.50, plus you had to pay $24.50 per person if you wanted to eat breakfast there and don't forget the taxes. If you wanted coffee there in the office, it was $4.00 a cup.The second night jumped to $249.00 (weekday) plus amenity fees and taxes. Still no breakfast. The people who work there were nice but never indicated that the second night was going to have a $65.00 plus increase. Customers are not recognized as partner members. The location was good, but any hotel there on the island would have been just as good for location.Walkability: Jekyll Island is very pedestrian friendly. We rode our bikes around the whole island. There are sidewalks all over the island. Jekyll Island is a great place to spend some time. The island is very prestigious. There is a $10.00 fee to park on the island.

Let's start with the good. The location is perfect! Nestled right against the beach, it's a wonderful space to relax and take in the scenic beauty. The staff is courteous and attentive as well. Now, the not so good. The beds were horrendous! I've had a better night's sleep on a cot! These mattresses had zero give! The rooms were spacious, but the beds were simply terrible. All in all, I would say give this hotel a try, maybe you'll sleep better than I did!

Our hotel room was very large and clean. Gorgeous view of the ocean from our window. However, the AC unit was squeaky and was not able to keep the room cold. It would come on sounding like a mice rave party and freeze you to death and then shut off and immediately get hot. Other than that, it was a very nice room. The staff was very nice. No free breakfast. You can go to the beach house next door for $13 so that was a little disappointing. But it's because they are remodeling. I'm sure it's going to be amazing once they finish. There are 2 very nice fire pits and a kids playground. The pool and hot tub were closed but they looked very nice. I'm guessing February is off season and things are closed for maintenance. Would like to return in the summer with hopefully a room with a better AC unit.

There’s a lot of chatter about this hotel, and after staying there for a couple of nights I can understand the mixed reviews. I don’t think any of these reviews are “wrong” in their assessments, but it all comes down to what you value, how you set your expectations, and maybe a little bit of luck.Heres what I loved about the Holiday Inn Resort on Jekyll Island - because of the way the hotel was built motel style parallel to the ocean, all of the rooms (save those behind the new restaurant being built) have an amazing ocean view. You can watch the sunrise over the ocean from most room windows, the attached patio or balcony, or take a short stroll to the beach. The lobby and common area are nicely appointed and there’s the most adorable and lovely lady (Linda) who serves coffee to guests on the third floor in the mornings (with pastry like items for purchase). The restaurant next door serves a buffet breakfast and while the service is slow the food is decent and the screened in porch is divine in the morning sun. They lit the fire in the fire pit each night (doesn’t warm you but looks pretty and is a nice place to socialize with other guests) and the pool was warm. They also played an outdoor movie on Friday night that would have been very fun had it been warmer while we were there. My daughter had fun playing on the little playground by the pool. I found the front desk staff to be courteous and always available to help. I am pregnant and thought the beds were very comfortable and medium soft. The sheets and pillows were in good shape and clean too. The rooms are pretty large and have a small kitchenette area with a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. All of the guests we met were nice people and seemed to be having a good time. This is a great hotel for families. All that said, yes the rooms are worn down and they could have been cleaner. They need plumbing work and ultimately the rooms (and bathrooms in particular) need a renovation.* Part of the problem is that the foot wash from the beach is rusted out completely so sand gets tracked into tubs and the pool. While the pool water seemed well treated (i think it’s a salt water pool) it desperately needed to be vacuumed. Some of the pool cushions and seating were tattered or frayed, which is a little thing with a big impact on the overall appearance of the place. There was a cigar butt on the window sill of our room when we arrived and one of the towels had tooth paste on it. Kinda gross but not a vacation ruining experience unless you let it be.In summary, this hotel is really a fantastic value for a beach front room on a gorgeous island. If you are a looking for a high end, spa-like resort, then you should stay at the club resort on the western side of the island. If you are looking for an unfussy, laid back vibe and can overlook a few things, you’re going to love it here, just as we did!*The consideration in renovating these rooms is that it will surely make this hotel more expensive. One can’t have it all!Suggestions for management - fix the foot wash by the beach, invest in plumbing maintenance, get the pool area spruced up, consider having housekeeping clean rooms every other day so they have more time to ensure rooms are very clean between guests (especially with more attention paid to bathrooms).

I know some reviews are iffy here but I really enjoyed my stay here . The room was clean and well appointed with maybe only a few cosmetic things needed. The view and the grounds were incredible and the beds comfy. A great area for a walk on the beach or paths . I can't wait to go back when the restaurant on site is finished ! It's a quiet area and I felt safe as a solo traveler.

Location is absolutely beautiful! Nice clean beach with nice sands and clear water. The Hotel itself was dated, and unfortunately it was not that clean. The shower had built up soap scum on the glass, and there was hair on the shower walls. Staff was very friendly, and the Bar / restaurant was very nice. We will be back in this area in about 4 weeks, but we will venture for a different Hotel.

This is a hotel style resort and is a good bit older building. Somethings could stand updating inside the units as well as outside. The location is beautiful. We'll definitely revisit this place in the future and look forward to spending a bit more time than just a single night. A new full service restaurant and bar is being built on site and is hopefully opening up by the end of May this year. Bring the bug repellent along.

This is my happy place. And not just mine-- my dog's too! Beautiful space with the beach just a few steps away. Peace and quiet, this is a perfect vacation spot for anyone looking for tranquility (vs. a party scene). The village, marketplace, and restaurants are just a 3-10 minute drive away when you want/need to get into town, and St. Simon's is only a 30 minute drive away if you're looking for something more.Rooms: I've stayed in the 2-queen bedrooms with a view as well as the suites, and both are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen in the suite helps for longer term stays, but I'd stay at either again!Nearby activities: Walk the beach, visit Driftwood Beach, explore the historic "downtown" area on the opposite side of the island, or visit the GA Turtle Sanctuary - all within a 5 minute drive from the hotel.Walkability: You can walk up and down the beach, and if you're up for it, all the way into town, but it'll take you 30-45 minutes to get there. Otherwise, it's a 3 minute drive to the market.Food & drinks: There's a restaurant at the facility next door, but others are within a short driving distance too.

Booked a family suite and a double queen room. Rooms were fine; nothing spectacular but they were clean. I had a total of 6 kids under 9 with us and the main thing everybody was looking forward to was the pool and hot tub. Unfortunately the pool was very dirty and green with a VERY SLIMY bottom. The hot tub had an incredibly bad smell (the kind that sticks to your body) and the rail going in was molded. We’ve stayed at the residence inn on Jekyll several times in the past but elected to stay at the Holiday inn for the bunk beds. Unfortunately this trade off wasn’t worth it with the pool/accommodations /no breakfast situation.

The views from the upper floors, and the proximity to the beach, are fantastic. The main grounds are nicely kept and it’s lovely to have the free two-hour bicycle rentals. It’s a quiet area with ample parking near your room. Sweet, sweet Linda in the upstairs cafe made me an excellent latte. However, there is a dark side to this motel. Upon arrival, we asked for our room safe to be unlocked, but that never happened. We asked for a ‘do not disturb sign’ and that never happened; then, we asked for no housekeeping service but we got that when we didn’t want to be disturbed. There was no Wi-Fi for an entire day. The whole pool area was closed and we were not alerted of that ahead of time; the new hotel restaurant ‘to be opened in the spring’ is still very much under construction. The second-floor ice machine near our room looks like it has not worked in a long time. The state of our room’s housekeeping can best be described as gross; the mildew stench from the bathroom was so bad that we left the exhaust fan on for much of the visit. I’m not sure what was on the bathroom wall beside the toilet, but it prompted me to go to the market for disinfecting wipes before I touched anything in the bathroom, and thoroughly deterred me from using any dishes in the kitchenette. I stepped on something in the bathroom and found it to be a dried-up contact lens. We actually ran out of toilet paper because there was not a single extra roll in the room (even though we had gotten the unwanted housekeeping the day before). I cleaned old dried food and drink off of the outside balcony table before we could use it. A previous tenant had smeared what looked like sunscreen on the coffee table, and it was still there for us. There were fingerprints and hand prints all over the beachside window. The whole room desperately needed dusted. I had to use hair pins to keep the privacy curtains shut so that people walking past our room could not see inside, and the heavy decorative draperies were ripped halfway off. There are holes and cracks in the walls. If you truly want the resort vibe, this is not it.

Don't do it! The only good thing I have to say about this place is that their Corporate Office was very apologetic and comp'd us a free night stay.We booked an oceanfront room for a 2 night stay. They're in the process of building a new restaurant and the construction blocked 95% of our view. No housekeeping and they charged us $50 for some reason. Again, their Corporate office was great and refunded us that because they weren't sure what it was for either. We had two towels, two washcloths and two plastic cups in our room. This is definitely not a resort, more like a run down hotel in desperate need of renovation. Picture from our oceanfront room.

Perhaps it is better in the summer but the staff was not very knowledgeable (I had to be put on hold twice when trying to call my room) and had to call maintenance to fix the heat as it was blowing cold air into my room. Property is having a little work done but the rooms need a little update too. On the plus side there was a door to our room leading out to the beach. As I said perhaps this hotel is better in the summer.

3.25ish really. First to be CLEAR this Motel style and not what you think when you think Holiday Inn. Outside entrance.Cons:SMELL. It seriously smells soooo bad. 3 nights and it never got better. See other reviews. Water even is soooo smelly. Not super clean. Stains. But I’ve seen worse. No breakfast. It says “breakfast optional” but it’s in a whole separate restaurant next door and it costs. They do have a coffee bar with the sweetest lady on the 3rd floor of hotel. The ONLY thing free is coffee.Ocean Front is not ocean view. Promise you. Ask for a view room on second floor.Overall it’s super dated.Pros: Beach and access could not be better. Bikes for free. Very sweet staff. Bed is comfy. Super quiet. Location is amazing. The grounds are so pretty and kept up. Pristine location.I would stay here again if I wanted to go and it was the only hotel with opening. It wouldn’t stop me from going, but I’d look for another place first. Oh, Pool is closed and there is construction going on FYI.

Best thing about this property is the location. Steps from the beach with easy access. Views from the water side are beautiful. Great potential here. Close to everything.Rooms are on the small side and need updating. Paint was chipped and dirty in many places. Overall feeling is one of neglect.Ice machines not working except for second floor lobby level. Would likely choose to stay elsewhere on a subsequent trip.Rooms: Definitely need updating.

The location and property are wonderful. We especially enjoyed morning coffee on the 3rd floor balcony and the evening fire pits. The rooms are well used and in dire need of an update. The furniture is in rough shape and the lighting is horrible. There are only 2 lamps for the bedroom/main room lighting. Also, there is not enough space for suit cases or clothes. There should be some hooks in the bedroom and bathroom to hang jackets, robes, towels, etc.

Their great location and pet friendly policy are the top reasons we keep going back! The beach and biking trail is right next to the hotel. Note that not all rooms are beach facing. The beach facing rooms open out to a small private seating area. The non-beach facing rooms have a view of the parking lot with no outdoor seating area. As a Platinum Elite and frequent visitor to this hotel, was surprised when we received the parking lot facing room for the first time despite booking this months in advance - but we did receive some free breakfast and coffee coupons!

Out of all the IHG location this is the worst. The room smells like mold when you turn on the A/C. Then you have to keep holding the handle down on the toilet to make it flush. The shower handle does not work properly and the shower does not maintain preasure. The power outlets in the lamp beside the bed are messed up aswell as the phone. The view from the room is great. The beach acces is also good. The pool and hottub is a green tint and not in a good way. In the pool on the deep end you can not see the bottom. This is a safety concern. The website shows crystal clear and it is no where close to that. I don't like the fact that there is no continental breakfast. Also you have to pay for the coffee, fruit and muffins. The cart that we used to bring up are stuff looked like something out of a flea market and keep pushing to one side. Overall this place is like a newly painted motel 6. Not worth the money.
