I adopted a kitten from them and the experience was great from start to finish! They are so sweet and clearly care about their animals. Dreama is the best! She gave me the best guidance while my kitten was recovering from her spay. The Foster who looked after my kitten in the meantime was so wonderful as well! She sent me the most adorable update pictures of my little baby.Thank you Oconee Regional Humane Society!

We can’t recommend this shelter enough. The cats are socialized extremely well. We adopted from the “teenager” room (both were 6 months - 1 year old). You can see the personalities come out at this age, and these kitties have remained just as true to their personalities as the day we got them. They are so sweet & happy! ❤️

Our new puppy is gold! He was one very happy little woofer when we met him first time, because they are kind and take good care of all animals in a shelter. He was the same puppy we saw on a picture and fell in love with. The application/adoption process was quick and the staff was helpful and nice. Thanks guys, you are doing a good job!

Their spay and nueter programs are life savers! They are extremely affordable, upfront and informative, helpful and patient, and the staff abviously care about the pets and owners. My advice is call them asap as there's currently a month long wait for appointments. After getting over 20 cats fixed I can confidently say these people are the most caring, understanding, and helpful I've ever met. I appreciate how they kept me informed and answered my questions every step of the way.

Gene was absolutely incredible and super helpful. We found four dogs on the side of the road and didn’t know what to do. She immediately helped us find where we could take them and was so incredibly sweet. Thank you so much! Highly recommend

The staff here is great. Very kind and informative. And they're super affordable (especially for someone with multiple animals). I'm more than glad to give them my business and support! Thank you Oconee Regional!! 😁

Adopted a dog here who was well cared for. Everyone was friendly and caring. You have to really want the animal cause it's expensive.

They are wonderful people! Especially Lillie. They worked with my schedule and allowed me to come a couple times to see Jack before I made up my mind. If they were closer to me I'd volunteer.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I got my cat neutered here. I wish I could adopt so many of the animals I saw. Please visit them and adopt if you can.

I've been looking for the perfect puppy for me, and thought I found her at this shelter. I submitted an application and was contacted the next day or so and told that my application stood out. I chatted with Lily and asked questions about the adoption fee and the puppy being spayed. We agreed on having me come in Friday at 2 and meet the puppy in person to see how well we click. Unfortunately, I was messaged the next afternoon and told that the puppy was already adopted that day and that I could still come in to look at others. After expressing my confusion on how the puppy was adopted when I had an appointment set up, I was told that there are no holds on the animals. I understand that, and I'm fine with that. My issue is, this should've been explained while on the phone prior. If there is no guarantee even after an appointment is set, that should be made clear right from the start. In my opinion, that's very bad business.

Great place to adopt your next pet. My family and I adopted our puppy from here and we very pleased with our choice. The staff was very helpful even sent us home with helpful tips to train our dog and documentation for our veterinarian. The facility is clean and well maintained. It was worth the one hour drive good for a smooth adoption process.

Great job. We adopted puppy Riley a week ago from this location. We drove from FL to pick him up. They really care for these baby's and they are well taken care of. They care about these dogs and cats getting forever homes. Keep up the great work. After reading some of the bad posts don't believe them. If you want to adopt from them you must put in a application just like we had to do. At least with the puppys they must be spayed or neutered before they are released. And to respond to the post about the wheel chair. My mom uses a scooter to get around as well. We had no problem with our adoption. Our last dog was her service dog a border Collie that went across the rainbow bridge after 19years and 3 months. This location does a great job. Please help them keep saving these sweet animals. Bless you all.

I adopted my sweet puppy here in August. The process was quick and the staff is very easy to work with. While the price may be high for a rescue, she was loved and spayed for me and I also received a lot of coupons with the adoption. I would adopt from them again!

75$ and I got the cutest kitten and the best service. I adopted from one of the adoption days at a different location than the shelter, but I have had a wonderful experience with them the entire time. They didn't mind me changing the name and I had no problem asking them questions about medications and just her life. She gets microchipped and spayed in a couple weeks.

Great group of folks that do so many wonderful things for animals in need! There are lots of opportunities to help this great organization by either donating or volunteering. Anything you can do to help is always appreciated. I must say that by volunteering, you can get lots of fur-baby kisses and love, which is awesome! 💕🐾💕

Poor Communication Caused Me My Time And Played With My Emotionsthe man i talked to on the phone was very kind however, they failed to inform me about all the requirements needed to adopt the dog. we drove and hour and 45 minutes there, brought my dogs who got extremely stressed out from the whole experience, only for them to turn us down once we arrived. they told me, “sorry i should’ve told you this on the phone but..” and then explained why we couldn’t adopt. our family had our hopes up about a dog to adopt. we wouldn’t have gotten our hopes up and wasted an entire day and stress our dogs out if they communicated better to us.

I picked up my newly adopted puppy earlier this week, and we are happy campers! Kudos to the ORHS staff and host of great volunteers who run a super clean shelter with care, skill, and lots of hard work. Best shelter I've ever seen, any where- stop there first and check their web site for newcomers. A+ place for adoptions!

I am a regular volunteer at the shelter. It is a small shelter where we take excellent care of our animals and our facility! We have lots of animals looking for their furever home!

I am a person with different abilities and contacted this shelter about several puppies that were listed with pictures. I called to tell them I was on my way from over an hour away. I use a wheelchair but am very capable and have raised many puppies. I own a home and live on an acre property. I keep chickens and do most gardening and housekeeping. I am early retired after a 30 yr career in executive project management. My last dog daughter was a well trained service animal that I trained myself. I have vet records with the same office for all my animals from the past 20 plus yrs. Not one of the puppies there was listed on the web page for adoption. I felt it was the old bait and switch. After a grueling interview process and their assumptions I may not be able to care for a puppy, I was disgusted. I am more than capable, even if all they could see is my wheelchair! I met several pups. The ones I was most interested in were already adopted but still in the mix with the others. Several pups were in a separate pen but in the same room, sharing the same floor as the rest and labeled with ringworm. The other puppies were able to get out and mingle near the quarenteened ones. The adopted pups were waiting for vet care and spay/ neutering. I made a selection but was told I would have to leave her there for more than 10 days because they refused to trust I would spay her. For the $250 adoption fee on a mixed doggie, the spay should have been completed b4 making her available to adopt. I declined the adoption because I did not want her to stay, exposed with other pups and adopters and wait to be trained another day, certainly weeks! It is shameful that many puppies will be killed at other shelters while this one provides employment for staff that is in dire need of training in soft skills and beaurocracy elimination. I was told to go have lunch so the decision makers could have a meeting to decide if i was capable of adopting a puppy. Wow! The only kind and caring person there was the volunteer receptionist. I adopted a lovely girl and will have her spayed as soon as she finishes her puppy shots. Ladies, learn some humility and people skills, these animals and people deserve better?!

I wouldn't choose to support them I use to love this place until I was discriminated against when trying to adopt a puppy. They claimed that me and my family weren't financially stable when we NEVER talked about our income with any of the workers. just not that but they also went on to tell us that our life is to busy to adopt a dog when they never even asked us about our day to day life. They also told us that because of our " family dynamic" weren't stable for a dog when they don't know anything about our family. It sucked because me and my family prepared for this dog after visiting it and letting them know we wanted to adopt it.

We adopted a puppy from ORHS over the weekend. It was a wonderful experience. We read Henry's story online and immediately filled out an online application and made an appointment to meet him the next day. The facility was very clean and neat. The staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. They did a great job with Henry. He almost died, but thanks to their wonderful foster care, Henry is a happy and loveable puppy and we are grateful to have him in our lives. Thank you Amy and the rest of the folks at ORHS.

Got a puppy from them that ended up being fear aggressive and therefore not a good fit for my family with children. It also tortures the cat we had prior to getting thenpuppy and has made her life miserable. Tried to get them to take the dog back and find him a more suitable home. No response. Dog is now going to have to go to animal control or be put to sleep.
