A hidden gem - it’s busy and a local favorite - but any wait is worth it. Even though space is a little tight, there’s such a quaint, homey vibe about the place that takes me back to a simpler, happier time - and everyone so friendly - and they are on the ball too! They are super efficient and the food is always so good! I appreciate so much still being able to find southern meat and 2 places where you feel welcome and like you’ve come home. I recommend the fried chicken!

The quality of the food here exceeds the cost. Country cooking with lots of love. The server we had was phenomenal. She was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly and genuinely happy to take care of us.The food was delicious with lots of exciting flavors. This restaurant has got it down for homemade meals.Thank you!

After hearing about this place for over a year I have been dying to try it. The food looks great, but lacks flavor.. It's a small town restaurant and I support small businesses. I'm just disappointed that for a place to have been serving southern foods for so long that my first time eating here that it would have tasted like a real home style southern meal, like with flavor? I don't understand why everything tasted so bland. I popped a piece of candy in my mouth to make sure I could taste it and the candy tasted exactly like it should. So I know it wasn't my taste bud. Their sweet tea was fantastic though. All in all, I will not be coming back but I appreciate all the kind servers and for everyone showing up to work and doing a great job.

Great little spot with a back home feel. I had the breakfast plate. The food is just like your back home and your mama fixed you breakfast. Everything was so tasty and good. Great homemade biscuits! Lots of options and would love to come back and try the lunch/ dinner menu. It was Sunday afternoon and the place was packed but the wait was not too long. Our waitress was so sweet too. A must try spot if you are out near Cartersville. A+ for sure!Vegetarian options: So many options if you want just veggies all homemade....

Well restaurant owned by family unfortunately Doug has passed as a matter of fact the local bridge was renamed in his honor. The restaurant has been sold the new owners promise to keep the charm and the menu the same. But they're going to do a major remodel of the entire place and fix the parking lot.So if you want to down home Southern meat and three or breakfast with country ham biscuits and gravy this is your place. Lunch is printed on a paper and passed around because it changes every day they do always have chicken livers which are always good. Also one thing unique about it the servers take your order on a Post-It note and then you take the post-it note to the register when you're ready to go of course they also give her the cook so by the time you get us out of the grease on it. You can see it in the pictures.Service is friendly if you've been there a couple times I know you that will come up hey how you doing give you a hug most the people that walked in that kind of do what their order was right away a regular down home country feel.Today I had breakfast eggs hash browns biscuits and gravy with two friends with me both have meatloaf with sides. Everything was wonderful. So come on down and see the place quickly before they remodel it. Then come again after remodel to see who that looks the food will probably be the same excellent down home meat and three or two LOL

I haven't been there in any years, but last night Thursday menu they serving fried chicken livers!! I luv them, a darn Yankee,So took my two southern friends,She had salmon patties, flavorful fried squash, ( not much flavor) & cream. corn,He had bbq sandwich & mac & cheeseI had chicken livers, broccoli, ( no cheese) great meal, the livers were tender! cooked great., broccoli was not over cooked,I would recommend Doug’s place if u like country cooking.Let me note, when we got seated busboy was wiping down table, but didn’t move the napkins holder and things on table, so I suggested he do that, he did. There was no crumbs under the napkin holder that’s a plus too in my review,Call me picky Vicky,

First time coming here! My family and I had a great dinner. My wife ordered the beef tips with rice, green beans and sweet potato. She said it was amazing but didn't care for the oats that were on top of the sweet potato. My daughter had the fried shrimp with cole slaw and creamed corn. She said everything was perfect. My son had a cheeseburger with fries and he said it was very juicy. I had the all you can eat cat fish with roasted potatoes and Mac n cheese. The cat fish was amazing along with my sides. I have nothing to complain about! Their biscuits and hush puppies and tartar sauce are so dang good we ordered a few more to go!!I know every one has their own opinions on food, but let me tell you something! The amount of folks coming in and out of this place was unbelievable!! Seeing the owner working the tables and bringing food out showed us how much he appreciates all his customers and made sure everyone was happy with their meals!! I will be coming back for more, thank you for serving my family tonight!P.S. Don't leave without having their banana pudding!!!!!!

Recently divorced. Live on the lake. My kids favorite restaurant. I'm building new memories here. Rebecca is especially awesome. I have a speedboat the houseboat and video games but the first thing I asked them is what do you want to do and they say Doug's place. Real. A month later. Best hush puppies ever and momma had game. Rebecca recommended

Food was not quite up to what I expected. Meatloaf very dry, biscuit no flavor and the fried squash more bread than squash. Lima beans were just bland with no seasoning. Mashed potatoes needed salt, the best thing on my plate was the gravy on the potatoes. I've had better tasting food at cracker barrel. Very disappointed after all the hype from my friend. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, cashier a little grumpy though.

Doug’s tastes like a home cooked meal. It’s the kind of place that you go to eat food your southern grandma used to make. It’s not elegant or posh. It’s not chef doctored. It’s not excellent it’s just good. And it’s consistent. My favorites after all these decades of going there is probably still fried chicken, turnips and creamed corn but sweet potato soufflé is pretty great. The various offerings come in little cafe style bowls. I think this is a perfect spot for someone missing the comfort of home cooking or just curious what a traditional southern meal might have tasted like! It’s close to Red Top Mountain-a wonderful place to spend the day! And very close to Cartersville, Ga. Which is one of my favorite cities to visit for the historic downtown eateries, wine bar and Booth Western Art Museum-that is world class!

I have enjoyed eating here in the past but our recent visit was a disappointment. My husband ordered chicken livers and they were overcooked. I ordered chicken and dumplings. Sadly there was no chicken and no dumplings in my bowl. I basically got a bowl of gravy. The greens were outstanding. The cornbread was dry and dense. We were wondering if they changed owners or had new cooks.

Flew into Cartersville airport and was looking for some good local grub. This place was recommended by the Phoenix Air FBO peeps. I was so happy when I walked in, my kind of place. Rustic and down to earth local establishment. Everyone working there had a smoky on their faces and I felt very welcomed there. Does look like the kind of place where everyone knows each other there.I love me some fried chicken...and chicken livers...and meatloaf! They had all three in the menu, so I got all three on my plate. It looked like too much to eat at first, but everything was so delicious, I was able to kill it no problem. Very satisfying. My coworker had the chicken and really enjoyed his meal as well. They also have some homemade jams and butters. So of course, I bought a few.Come out and support your local businesses. This place is a must if you’re in the local area!

My siblings & I are retired. We wanted to have lunch together during the Christmas season. Doug's Place seemed like a nice location. There were 7 of us in our party. We were told upon arrival that they would not seat us downstairs nor put 2 tables together, so we were divided. The food was not bad, but certainly not spectacular either. Just average at best. I heard talk that there was new ownership of the restaurant, and that the prices had been raised? Biden economy I guess??? I had eaten here once before and it seemed better back then. I don't really think I'll be back, and I don't strongly recommend this restaurant either.

Creamed corn and Cole slaw were very good. Sweet potato souffle was barely warm, but it was tasty. The breading on the catfish could've had more seasoning, it was a little bland, yet the fish was light and flaky. Fried chicken was better than the fish, but again lacked flavor. Our server was polite and friendly. The atmosphere is down home and comfortable. Overall, a good experience.

Went for breakfast and was pretty disappointed to be honest. I am always on the lookout for good country cooking. The gravy was runny with little lumps, breakfast chicken patty seemed like it came out of the freezer. Biscuit was decent but nothing to write home about. I’ll try them out for lunch and see if it’s any better but I’m not expecting much.Dietary restrictions: Good luck

Staff was good, aesthetic of the restaurant was nice. BLAND food. Nursing home quality flavor, meaning no flavor. Seasoned green beans were mush. Walmart mac-n-cheese has more flavor than this mac-n-cheese. Hush puppies were the saving grace.Save your money.

We had our company picnic catered by Doug’s Place at Red Top Mountain. The BBQ, Chicken tenders, baked beans, Cole slaw was outstanding. Everyone love the food and totally enjoyed the delicious food. The banana pudding was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. We can totally recommend Doug’s to anyone looking for great bbq.

The wait was long, but it was mother's day. The food was pretty good, didn't care for the grits. The eggs were delicious! I love the interior look and the service was so thoughtful and kind! Seating is available in long wooden benches while you wait for a table.
