My initial review was less than satisfactory mainly because of my own misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the diagnosis. My only legitimate complaint had to do with an aide's use of a 'noose' leash on my dog (these may be OK for small animals but can injure the throat area of a large one).Otherwise, Dr. Pope's diagnosis (torn ACL requiring surgery) was spot on and his staff is as courteous, knowledgeable and attentive as one would wish, just like Dr. Pope himself. The main drawback is that this provider is quite pricey as compared to other equally capable area vets.

I would like to thank Dr. Pope and his staff for everything they did for my German Shepherd Rika. Dr. Pope is and outstanding vet that cared for my girl for the past 5 years. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with cancer that could not be treated, and we made the hard decision to put her out of her pain. Dr Pope and his staff were professional and compassionate with our loss. He gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes and gave us the piece of mind that our girl was as comfortable as she could be. Thank you again Darien Animal Hospital.

Vet and his assistants are all knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. And they are all kind and careful with our dogs. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else with our dogs.

So impressed with Dr. Pope and his staff! This was our first visit! We will definitely be back! I was just trying to find a local vet that was reasonably priced and cared. When I couldn’t find that someone told me about this office. The staff were very accommodating and were able to get me in faster than anybody else. My dog was very comfortable with all the staff and I was more than pleased! They are awesome and affordable! They are now our primary Vet.

I don’t know about the vet but the front office staff is awful. I called because my dog needs to be rechecked because of a skin issue and may need another antibiotics shot and they told me to drive back to Florida to have him looked at by the vet who looked at him before because they don’t know his history or have his medical revords( which we’re all emailed to me so I told them I have them. I explained my mother is having surgery on Monday and I am disabled and don’t drive and they did not even pretend to care. Ridiculous!

I met these professionals for the first time when a very difficult decision had to be made just a few weeks ago. They were comforting, reassuring, informative, and super compassionate. They were very gentle with my beloved pet, and they provided a safe and quiet space as I said goodbye to my dog of over 13 years. I am grateful for all of their help and kindness.

I'm so grateful to have Doc Pope and company for my pups. Everyone is so kind and attentive. It's obvious everything is always done in the best interest of the patient, not just the business end of it. Doc is wonderful! He takes his time with you, is honest and straight forward and really goes the extra mile. One of my pups has a chronic liver condition that requires routine bloodwork. Doc always calls me himself with results. That's a bit of a novelty these days. A plus plus. Couldn't ask for any better. Oh, and Jen, the groomer, is a champ too!

Last month we had to put our Phoebe to sleep. Phoebe's health was rapidly deteriorating over the weekend so I emailed the info line on Saturday and explained what was happening. I received a response right away and I was advised that I could come in on Monday and they would make all the necessary arrangements. I brought Phoebe in and we were shown to a room right away. Every staff member that we saw was kind and caring. I was able to hold Phoebe as she left us and it meant the world to me. I could see on their faces how difficult it was for the staff as well as they are wonderful human beings that love our animals like their own. Top notch, caring people that will care for your pet.

I was passing through, spending the night in my RV and leaving the next day. My cat started having blood in her urine and they worked her in that day, even though they knew she wouldn't be a repeat customer. They were very friendly and did a great job at explaining the possible issues and options. I would definitely recommend them!

Dr. Pope and Dr. Rich are both excellent veterinarians. They and their staff always do everything they can to help our pups. We have trusted Dr. Pope in caring for our 5 dogs in the last 5 years, and he has never disappointed. Dr. Rich is new, so he has only cared for our newest addition to the family, but he is also extremely helpful and kind! They are so friendly and patient with any questions or concerns that we have. The staff are also all so friendly! I HIGHLY recommend DAH. Both the doctors and the staff truly care for the health and well being of your pet.

I had a new puppy and had a limited window to get him health checked per breeder requirements. Called several vets in Brunswick. I was told only existing clients could get an appointment immediately due to pandemic causing high demand. Darien Animal Hospital was the only clinic willing to work me in. I love this place. They were friendly and kind and presented me with free samples. Very glad I found them.

Our dog Stella became very, very sick at only 8 weeks old, I know without a shadow of doubt that she would have died without Dr.Pope's knowledge, dedication and caring staff. We were out of town when one of our dogs needed a vet. We called Darien Animal Hospital and they said bring her in. All of the staff, the vet tech and Dr. Pope were so helpful. The kindness, caring and compassion shown to my elderly, sick cat and me was beyond expectations. Though we had to put her to sleep, Dr. Pope tried his best to save her. We were tourists in Darien when this happened, and I am so pleased we found Dr. Pope. He made my last moments with my cat the gentlest. Thanks also to Camille and Jessica who were so understanding and kind. I cannot speak more highly of this Animal Hospital.

Friendly staff. Good with pets. Trim nails for a small fee which is great because my dog won't let me cut her nails. There is a groomer but I haven't used that service yet. I wish they had a payment plan. That would be helpful.

Dr Pope is an excellent vet and takes the time to make you feel like you are the most important client of the day. He also let us park our RV there to bring our pets in and even allowed us to stay overnight for no charge! The staff is friendly and helpful and we will definitely be visiting here again!

Dr Rich and Camille went out of their way to help me put my Sally Dog to rest. They were so loving and gentle. I will always have a special place in my heart for them. When I found the courage to adopt my Grace, they were there to help again with her wellness visit. The staff here loves animals and are dedicated to their wellbeing. Everyone here was so friendly. My dog was terrified, and they took great care of her. The vet was very patient while explaining things to me (I ask ALOT of questions and I don't like it when people make me feel rushed or stupid for trying to be informed). I don't live in Darien, but I will definitely make the drive to take my fur baby to them
