I went there from my high school during Job Shadowing Day. The experience is wonderful. As a volunteer, you can even play with dogs or cats. Which one is you perfered. You can even pick any dogs, and they will bring a dog for you inside that room. The smell is kinda weird, but you will get used to it after 5-10 minutes.

I took my male cats in to be neutered. They were so friendly, and took excellent care of them. They also gave very good after-care instructions, as well as answering any questions, and said to call them if there were any questions or concerns.

I adopted my new fur baby from here. The staff are very kind, spend ample time with you to make sure it’s the right fit, and truly care about the animals. Highly recommend getting your new best friend from here!

There are so many precious cats and dogs waiting for a good home. MOAS really cares about the animals, always has an event going on to help get these sweeties adopted, helps people in a tight spot who need pet food so as not to have to surrender their pet, and even has a fostering program. Please volunteer here! It would help a lot! I know from experience that the cats love volunteers 😉If you found this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up! Thanks!

The staff is caring and knowledgeable. Best place for adoption or spay/neuter surgery, or to make a donation where your money is well cared for! They are very good stewards of donations and of course animals. Check Amazon for their wish list, every little bit helps. Help them help more animals in need. Oh yeah, and btw GO DAWGS and rescue dogs ROCK! -thedogtrainingdiva

I have adopted my puppy Benny who is now named Doobie AND my best friend accidentally got his brother Gus! So yay for brother play dates!! My mother fosters kittens for them as well as my family has adopted from this no kill facility many times with no issues. I find they are always helpful and kind. I sympathize as I know they get SO full so quick and I'm always trying my best to reccomend people to them for any pet needs!!

They are always very good with all my furbabies. They are the most reasonable with their prices on spaying and neutering. I have 6 cats 2 females and 4 males and 1 dog, female and they have fixed all of them.

Stopped in today to adopt a cat for my daughter on August 5th 2023, staff acted like they do not want to adopt our animals. Stood there for 30 minutes waiting while other people who came in after got priority. I recommend Athena area humane society, better communication, and they actually want to adopt out animals

So I went in the animal shelter 5 different times to look for my son a dog for his birthday. When I first went in there they had a lot of dogs to see but only a couple were available. The first dog I was interested in they waited until I had gotten attached to the dog and the dog defected on me to tell me the dog was going to a different state. Then I found another dog that I was interested in and when they gave me the adoption paperwork there were way too many questions on it that were way too private for me to feel comfortable answering. You don't need to know what I do aevery day inside my home to be able to sell me a dog. Most horrible experience I've ever had. I will not be back there.

So nice and patient, didn't get a snooty attitude at all. Very understanding and helpful. Thanks for understanding and not losing your patience as I struggled finding somewhere for the kittens to be safe and finding a fit for a new loving family. Every time I've had to take all my animals there, I always walk out happy. Don't ever change that! 😃

I was nervous because of some of the reviews. Yes, when I called the phone conversation was dry, I wouldn't say rude, but dry and blunt. However the people working inside once I got there were all very very nice and helpful. Even though one lady was very busy she still took time to answer my questions. The young lady that assisted me was very pleasant, friendly, and professional. She had a kind spirit and seemed to love what she was doing. We adopted a puppy. We were allowed to play with him before and while we made the adoption.Overall, I drove over 2 hrs to adopt. I was nervous because it says on the website that it is 1st come 1st serve so I knew they wouldn't hold my pup even though I called earlier. I'm happy with my experience and happy to have the cutest fur baby. Would recommend.Don't let the dry phone conversation stop you. I just think they get a lot calls and are very busy.

Have adopted from MOAS twice & had great experiences. Adopted my buddy George a hound mix in 2005 and my girl Heidi an English Setter mix in 2018. Got the two best friends a person could ask for. As far as cleanliness and care of the animals they are the best in the area. I absolutely adopt from MOAS again.

The people here really care about animals. There are so many babies here that need good homes. I want them all. MOAS makes neutering and spaying affordable. Please save lives by having your fur babies fixed. There are too many being needlessly euthanized do to overages at shelters.

The people here are amazing. Friendly and welcoming every time we visit. We got our dog fixed here last week, and they were cheerful when we dropped him off, and answered all of our questions. They did a great job, and he was back to himself in no time. Adopting, spaying/neutering, and the vaccine clinic are all really well done here, and we very much appreciate these guys.

We will take my dog at the end of the month. It will. Be for her yearly checkup. My dog is the sweetest Rochweiler a person would want to meet. So we are see if she like them. I am looking forward to meeting them and comparing the athens clarke county human society.

It was very clean. The girls were super sweet. Even though there was a quarantine, the went back to see if our cat was there. He was not, but we will be back.

We always get our animals slashed and neutered at their clinic. I love the staff and volunteers and I completely believe in the work they do. They obviously really love the animals there.

I took my cat to the Vaccine Clinic today. The volunteers and staff were friendly and efficient. This clinic was so well organized that they took my Hamilton before the appointment time and had him back to me in less than 5 minutes. Always friendly and supportive.
