First time at this location. It was clean. Newer store. Gas line went faster since each lane has 3 pumps vs the two I'm use to at my normal store. Meat selection was very sparce.

It's a great place to shop for major appliances, household items, clothes, tech, etc. Buying food in such large quantities can cost you extra money in the long run if you don't have a good plan to use it. Their return policy is the best. Update: Jan 2024: Made an online appt to get my tires replaced. Wanted to change the date but the website wouldn't let me. So I called my local Costco and changed the appointment over the phone. However, when I got there they said the only had a record of my old appt. They were nice enough to work me in but it took a couple of hours. I appreciated them putting new caps on my tire inflators and driving my car to meet me at the front of the store.I wish there were dressing rooms

Easy access into the parking lots. Friendly employees, clean store. They are well stocked, like other Costco's I've visited in Georgia. The Athens store has vision and hearing centers selling quality eye glasses and hearing aids at very reasonable, almost too good to be true prices compared to name brand stores. The hearing and vision centers also offer hearing and vision exams on site with appointments.

We just went here today 12/19 and got some things. We also bought the rotisserie chicken and its still raw in the inside I was surprised that they let them sell chicken that is not cooked thoroughly.

Costco had lots of great products with varieties to choose from. It was a big place, and we didn't have time to look at everything in this first visit as we tried to wade through all the people. We did find some good buys but were disappointed to find out they only take Visa and debit cards.

I love Costco! I have a membership at Sam's as well but Costco has won me over. I will do price comparison for things I know they both carry and Costco is a little higher. However, Costco has more healthier options especially when it comes to the snack area. I spend about an hour here browsing new items to try, so happy we have one now!

I was disappointed to find Costco mechanically blade tenderizer the majority of their steaks. The lamb chops are big and priced well, but not as flavorful as those I buy elsewhere. Needless to say, I will be buying all my meat elsewhere.

When I picked up my new membership. I was told that if I. Upped it and got a visa I would get $50. So I came home applied for visa on line, got the card. Went to Costco and was told I had to apply for both at the same te in store. I was never told this. I do not feel comfortable applying for a cc in store. I even got an email saying this was a special offer for me.

I like Costco and I'm glad they are finally in Athens. However I asked the store manager where a product was located and he acted like he could not be bothered with questions for a MEMBER WHO PAYS A MEMBERSHIP. Immediately just pointed in a direction that could have been 5 isles and kept on walking around. If this is the type of service from the top, I hate to ask where anything else is from anyone else. Maybe I'll go back to Sam's club. Least I expect them to be rude so it's not a surprise.

Costco is decent for being a typical warehouse. Really disappointed that they appear to no longer be selling Girl Scout mint chocolate covered pretzels! Need to bring those back! Also extremely inconvenient that you cannot use your MasterCard and are confined to using Visa.

Yeah, it's love hate with this Costco. Love the Costco selection. Employees are hit and miss. I shop early and on weekdays, and hate that this location forces you to use self checkout by not having enough registers open. Not good when you have refrigerated items. Last time I was in self checkout I say hi to the guy who starts scanning some of my large items......no reply.What's nice is this is the least busy Costco I've ever been to. No gas lines is a plus. But I suspect the product turnover is slow, which affects stuff like produce, as the grapes I bought were bad, and I've had other produce turn too early.

This was my first time coming to this new Costco. It has the same layout as most Costco locations. Everything is well organized and clean. The employees were friendly. The food court was awesome and the prices at the food court are amazing. The gas prices are also cheaper than anywhere else.

So glad Costco has finally been opened in Athens. Although I’m a member here and at Sam’s it’s nice to have both. I will say that some of the prices for the most random things were pretty higher than anticipated but then again this was kind of evened out by the deals in the clothing section for example. There’s such a great array of things from fresh food, frozen food, wine/beer, games, toys, etc. You can’t go wrong with a Costco membership that’s for sure.

The evening shift lady who was watching self checkout was “helping” us by scanning out toilet paper and water. While directing us how to scan… and telling us where to put things while shouting very slowly. She kept touching and rearranging are things that we’ve already organized to her liking… on the floor. I hope you train your employees on what “preferential” treatment is. We speak English fluently, we’ve been to Costco in Peachtree and Duluth, we’ve lived in the US for over a decade. We know what self-checkout is, thank you.

I initiated membership yesterday. The staff at the desk were very friendly and efficient. The store was clean and stocked, and there were plenty of carts. I didn't have many items, so I went to srlf-checkout. I had no wait. The only thing disappointing was the line for food. I really wanted a hotdog and pop. Next time!

This place is overwhelming! Bought the card as a special through Groupon. Still have my Sam's club card, but don't know that I'll be willing to pay for both... may the best warehouse club win!

First off my experience was a little unnormal as you say, I did not see anything posted outside stating that I could not have my legal firearm on me. I did not have it out all willy-nilly I had it tucked under my shirt just the bottom portion was sticking out, and I was run down by a gentleman stating that I had to take it off because I was scaring some of the customers. I reminded him that I am a law-biting citizen with a legal concealed permit and open carry permit, I also mentioned that I had the gun tucked under my shirt to where you could not really see but the bottom portion. After asking the gentleman if he could guarantee mine and my family's safety with just his flashlight he told me I could keep the gun for that day. This will be the last time I shop at Costco because wherever I go I need to make sure I can protect not only me but my family and neighbors as well. Costco you have to do better

Things are usually pretty fast place in here.I’ve gotten groceries, tires and glasses.I made an appointment for new tires, they got me right in, and kept me updated the whole time. Took about 1.5 hours. Which wasn’t bad.I took my prescription here to get it filled, because they took my insurance and my original eye dr didn’t. I had a sweet lady help me pick out a pair, because I’m very indecisive. It took a bit to get all the paper work done and actually order them, but I was in no hurry that day.The only thing is, they are cutting down on people trying to use other peoples cards, so they will ID you if need to be. And if you don’t have the new card with a photo ID on it, they’ll ask you to go get one on your way out. Which is a quick process.

What a hassle to shop here! Have your ID and membership card ready to scan THREE times. I wanted to buy soup and bread not board an international flight. Employees weren’t friendly either. Probably due to the environment.

Absolutely insane that they only take visa or debit cards. Thankfully it was a rare occurrence that I actually had my debit card on me, as we had just finish scanning $700 worth of stuff. With the amount of debit card fraud, few people actually use them regularly anymore, including myself as I work in banking. There is no reason that a company as big as Costco can not accept my Mastercard credit cards, discover or Amex. Total bummer. Just switched from Sam’s, and may end up switching back.The employees are not friendly at all. They don’t look at you when they speak to you. Not a single one smiled. The girl at the register just looked bothered the whole time she was checking us out.

So I signed up when they opened last year. There's some things that are great. But there are just so many glaring things that are completely unacceptable. I have started shopping at Sam's in almost all of those problems have been eliminated. I have gotten multiple Costco rotisserie chickens that were raw / severely undercooked. They then put those chickens into other products like chicken salad and the chicken caesar at the food court both of which were so bad I returned them. Many of the employees don't act respectful towards the customers not all some are wonderful but you know who you are. The store policies are also really silly. They refuse to give cash back on debit. They make you buy 12 bagels when they're packaged with for six. There's always one frantic person working at the food court. They also don't carry regular individual packages of yogurt just Greek yogurt. They don't slice any of the bread and the bread notoriously goes bad in like 3 or 4 days. But probably the biggest thing I hate is that they allow outside people to basically harass you while you're shopping AT&t being the absolute worst. Hi what phone service do you have? not yours it didn't work at my house. Well we just redid our entire network so it'll work great now. After like the third time it's really annoying and you don't want to be straight up rude to them.

2 major problems with costco I see after being a sams member for years: they don't have scan and go on their app so you have to wait in line, and none of their aisles are marked with what products are on them (they only have an aisle number). Also, their selection of products isn't any better than sams, and neither are their so so prices. Example: 5w30 house brand oil was 38.99 for 2 gallons, when walmart sells one gallon of their house brand for $18, or $36, without a membership. And their bakery/in house made food items don't look appealing. Fortunately I only paid what amounts to 20 bucks just to try them out, after I get my $40 shop card, which takes 2 weeks to get for some reason after they can instantly sign you up for a membership....

I was buying a bottle of wine. The cashier, Jackie R insisted on seeing the ID of my girlfriend. We're both over 21 so it wasn't a problem. But she has no right to ask for the ID of someone not purchasing the alcohol. Jackie needs to learn to stay in her lane.

Always make about 3k steps, on a Costco day. In addition to spending about $300 on average. We eat well and healthy. Can't think of anything bad.

We love that we finally have a Costco in Athens. I wish every parking lot was designed as well as this one. The size of the parking spaces is large, which makes it so much easier to get in and out. The staff here are so much more pleasant than other locations that we have visited. Alway have a good experience when we visit this location.
