Maybe become friends so they can hold dogs for you! They posted a puppy, I did the application and called. The dog was already RESERVED, for someone! So me calling asking about a puppy that wasn’t supposed to be posted in the first place, caught the lady on the other end off guard! Meanwhile, I passed up traveling a hour away to pick up the same breed!

I've had encounters with multiple shady humans, but I've never had a bad experience with shady animals.Humane society did a thorough background check with all my past and present pets before allowing the addition to my family.I am so grateful.

I was able to ask questions on the subject of whether they can pick up dogs that needed to be picked up due to a person not being able to take care of the dog properly. They informed me that they do not pick them up, but infact that the person has to take the animal to them. I also inquired about whether they were able to help a person with a pet that was not able at the time to feed their animal due to financial difficulties and was informed that they use to be able to, but are currently asking the public to help them out in that area.

We adopted our beautiful Ginger from the Bainbridge Humane Society and we couldn’t be happier. The staff was truly outstanding, very responsive to calls and emails and so professional in how the business side was handled. Everyone there we encountered was friendly, polite and focused on us finding the right dog for us but also the right fit for the dog. Thank you all, we are forever grateful for you helping us get our new addition to our family!

The staff and volunteers at the shelter are fantastic and do a great job. Most of the animals enter the shelter with no background information being known and the staff try and give each and every animal the care it needs. In a perfect world they would have all the info on the pets but unfortunately they don't. Each and every animal is dealt with compassion and love. I personally have adopted from the shelter and he is the sweetest baby. To come from the circumstances he did and to be as living as he is you can tell the staff had a hand in that. First and foremost they are advocates for the animals.

We adopted “Kittie” from DCHS. I was surprised at how picky (in a very good way) they were about who could adopt from the shelter. They vet potential adopters, to be sure the animal is going to a good forever home. We love our Kittie. She is the perfect addition to our family. The staff at the shelter are great, and they do such a tremendous job protecting the helpless. Our Kittie was the first animal they rescued after Hurricane Michael... that makes her extra special.

An amazing shelter that truly has the animal's best interest at heart. Great people that work here. I adopted my best friend from here. The staff even keeps up with former residents to see how they are settling in their new homes. This place rocks!

I adopted a wonderful companion dog from this shelter. When I saw how hard the employees worked to find homes for their animals, and the love and compassion they had for what they did I decided not only to become a member, but to dedicate my time to helping them. Please go visit them, your best friend may be there waiting for you!!!

Three years ago I fostered two 6 day old puppies when their mother was killed, and ended up making them a part of our family. The shelter staff was unbelievable with helping me learn how to take care of these babies when they couldn't even open their eyes. The staff fights for every one of these animals more than the community knows. We are lucky to have them there to take care of these fur babies!! #adoptdontshop

My daughter picked out a dog we adopted he turned out to be terminally ill after 3mos he died. It was heartbreaking to try to explain to a toddler what happened to her dog she "rescued". Our vet said he had been sick for a while before we got him if blood test had been done on him by the shelter his illness could've been helped some and at least would've extended his life and time with the child that loved him. I understand funding is limited and its hard to test for everything but I feel somethings could be done differently. I contacted the shelter about what happened and received no form of information or sympathy for my heartbroken child I simply received a " it happens pets die can't do anything about it". This was our first shelter adoption and more than likely will be our last.

A group of people dedicated to caring for animals. I've adopted one dog from there previously, but have interacted with their staff many times over the years. If you ar looking for a new friend, would encourage you to do a stroll about their kennels first!

Adopt don't shop!! The workers are amazing and LOVE all of these animals as if they were their own. I couldn't do what they do, you guys are saints! It breaks my heart seeing all of these animals in jail, I wish I could adopt them all. But it eases my heart knowing they are properly cared for at BDCHS until they find their FUR-EVER home. Please stop by and just walk a dog or two, or volunteer, donate, or find your new family member here. Every little bit helps.Ashley, Beth, Andy & gang-- thanks for all that you do for this city AND county!

My daughter and I have volunteered here for more than 5 years. Amazing, selfless staff that does all that is humanly & financially possible to give the best care possible to animals that are the victims of human selfishness & neglect. I don't know how they face the obstacles they deal with daily, except for the seemingly unending love for each animal that comes in. Funds are simply not sufficient, due to lack of support & donations, yet they make magic happen daily for these "forgotten" fur-babies! Amazing what dedicated humans can do, even with insufficient funds and support! Have seen countless "happy" adoptions while there, and we have adopted 5 from them as well - amazing experiences - all of them! Thanks to each member of this team and to every adopter and foster! SPREAD THE WORK TO SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PETS AND DONATE TO YOUR LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY!

I have adopted 3 dogs and 2 cats from this place, all of which are spoiled rotten. The staff here has more heart for each and every four legged fur baby that comes through their door. I hope that everyone continues to adopt from this humane society, the fur babies here are so loved and everyone does their best for the health and well being to ensure they get a loving and happy home. Remember funds are low, so many come through their doors on a daily basis, many supplies are needed to operate on a daily basis. Thank you all here at the BDCHS for all the love you show each and everyone of the fur babies that come through your door, without you there wouldn't be a BDCHS.

My application was denied, the reason being that I live in an apartment. Heads up animal owners! If you live in an apartment, you will not be able to take care of a dog. It is much better for them to sit in tiny cages with no home at shelters, it's a shame that places like this one have that mindset

I love this place. Every animal I have ever adopted has been an irreplaceable part of the family, every animal I've ever brought in has been pampered and taken care of as well as been adopted swiftly. I love how they give me updates on the animals and the staff is so awesome. They even be rescuin chickens. 🐓

The people who work here are amazing. They will help you with spay and neutering your animals. They put in log hours with these animals to find them home. Adopt a pet from the Humane Society.

BDCHS - helping the helpless. My sister added to her family and became a foster. Love the folks who work so hard for those who can't speak - volunteers, employees - they're all the best. Come see them for your next family member.

I went there to adopt a pet, and was told the pet was being held to send to another state, the pet was sent to Tallahassee. Why was the pet sent to another facility to be adopted when you had someone right there at the facility to adopt a dog. I didn't even get a chance to see the pet or an opportunity to a adopt it
