*UPDATE* pics inc... THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING! WHY?!:WELL HERE'S MY REASONS:Back in October(prior to my original post you can see below still) a mama dog and her two pups literally wandered to our door step I noticed they didn't have collars but were so grateful to have food water and shelter... Long story short we took them all in until I could find help for them making sure they would let me know that if they weren't adopted I'd be called out could call and find out their adoption statuses. Well I cried when they took them my husband said "keep one if you want, besides Butchee (Our 2 & 1/2 yr old we rescues at 4 weeks old) needs a brother" the gentleman who came to get them said they had to take all of them to vax etc but when they came up for adoption we could show up and get him. Adoption day came and instead of being excited I was so sad and miserable bc I wasn't able to go ...I was stuck in a hospital bed that entire week! However my husband showed up before they opened, he went in and got my baby Ottis for me/us!!! Best surprise he's ever given me! He's ALWAYS gonna have love and be safe and sound with his new family. He's bonded with his brother and he's potty trained already and so grateful to be back in the home his birth Mom found for him! Bonus: his sister and Mom were also taken in by great families!(Original post⬇️ before we were blessed with the addition of Ottis *the white puppy*)Stop complaining and start volunteering. If you're saying the lady was rude then I'm assuming she needed help. Did you offer to clean!? Did you offer to donate food? Did you offer to help them whenever they at least make sure to keep them under a roof and not kill them!? People with negative remarks and no remark about their own experiences in helping really upset me. If you have nothing nice to say after doing NOTHING then let that stay to yourself please. I look forward to adopting our next family member there so my fur son can have a sibling to love and grow with...I don't mind if it stinks etc, and yes I will definitely offer to assist in any way I can. That's what good people do!!!

It's more profitable to answer the phones and return messages as if the person on the line is prepped to donate $100. Otherwise you chase off every donor and volunteer you could ask for.I may not have $100, but I did have $25 for the old spay and nueter vouchers you used to offer. Since no one will answer me if you are offering this again, and your website is down, I guess I'll have to take my money elsewhere. Also, stop making your volunteers leave 5 star reviews defending your actions. There is no excuse for rude, lazy, or careless behavior. Why should I trust any animal in your care if you can't even be human towards me?

I got both my dogs from this shelter, and couldn't be happier. The dogs can be very loud when they are in the back, so I was a bit nervous, but once I was in the yard with either dog, they were instantly adopted. I tell everyone to get their dogs here.

People want to complain so much bad stuff about these shelters but yall Rember if people would take responsibi for thier animals they wouldnt be in theses places. These fur babies have a heart ♥ and soul and deserve love and happiness .Don't get a animal if you not going to take care of it.It a big responsibility just like having children is a big responsibility.

I did not take my pet. I discovered that they are not obligated to keep the animals. Thus, they will put them to sleep. 😞.

I give four stars because my only complaint was that they are the only no kill shelter in the area but they had no room for dogs but cats are everywhere can someone tell me who to contact in this area that is a no-kill shelter or do we only have one in the Augusta area

It can be kind of scary if you're getting a dog because of how loud they'll bark. But sometimes, there are some great dogs to choose from. On May 13 I got a Pointer mix named McKenzie who is a very good dog. We also got some cats there. For example, Smokey, a Tuxedo Cat, and Cashmere. (To be honest we don't really know what she is, but she is a very lovable lap cat.) So if you love animals and want a great pet, I think you should give them a try! If it doesn't work out the first time, just go again and I'm sure you'll find the one!

Our area's only no-kill shelter. Operated by a dedicated group of volunteers doing their best to save pets' lives with a limited budget. Yes it is in an old jail but they do their best to maintain the building with the resources they have. I have three happy and healthy cats from here. See through the negative reviews and support the shelter so they can continue their mission.

We arrived at what looked like an old insane asylum with a sign posted to use the side door. The instant we walked into the side door, the room we seen was a complete wreck. Sure, you're painting and trying to reconstruct, but there's no reason for chaos. Once we made it through the room, there were a few ladies standing there looking at us like we had third eyes. Eventually, one of them acknowledged us and we told her we were there to see the dogs/puppies. She handed me a clipboard and instructed me to fill out a piece of paper and wait for the man showing dogs. First, the place smelled like feces and urine from both cats and dogs. Second, there was not one ounce of warmth downstairs where we waited. Third, the staff made us feel so unwelcome we decided to leave after about 10 minutes. Last, the fact that we weren't able to see the dogs would explain why the place was packed to the brim. Do tell, who would want an animal from a place like this? I don't recommend this place at all!

It was absolutely awful! The whole place smelled disgusting. I understand animal shelters aren't suppose to smell the nicest but this was something else. The dogs were all very very mean, they were not well socialized at all. I understand most are strays and may have trust issues but the lady did not even seem to care, she didn't give us the names of any of them. They only had one bowl of food per cage and it was freezing in the room. And the floors are all nasty. Also, I understand it was a jail, but atleast for the love of god, take out the jail cell doors. And maybe atleast try to make it look more pleasing and welcoming. Not sad and negative.

This facility needs more funds or something because the conditions were not so great. I’ve been to a few shelters and this one was the worst overall, 😔 We went looking for a kitten but went with a 2 year old calico. She has some fears that linger from her previous home but she is so loving and smart! I’ve never seen a cat play fetch! Her name was Daphney but I changed it to Kali because she didn’t respond to her old name.

They are not helpful at all. The lady was extremely rude over the phone and is super judgmental. Respect goes both ways but she didn’t care about my situation and had something negative to say instead of being helpful. They should have more caring people answer their phones.

Please donate any support you can to this place as they are dependent on the goodwill and compassion of the community. This can be done financially, by donating old blankets or pet beds, toys, food, etc., or even donating your time helping keep the facility cleaned and in good shape. Another way you can help is by spending time giving these homeless animals your love and attention. Of course the best way YOU can help is by adopting an animal. I came by today just to give these fur babies treats, cuddles, pets, and talking to them in a loving voice. They need affectionare human contact as much as possible!

They were rude and the place was disgusting. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in yrs and the lady was very rude. The building was burning up and she couldn't tell me hardly anything about the animals I looked at. The adoption fee is also incredibly expensive for adopting. It's probably one of the highest I've seen.

I adopted my cat from the CSRA Humane Society. The staff (made up of hard working, committed, compassionate, and caring VOLUNTEERS) was very interested in making sure their beloved RESCUE was the perfect fit for my family & vise versa. They had taken very good care of her making sure she had been socialized, spayed, microchipped, and was up-to-date on her vaccinations. I received a copy of her vaccination, microchip, and surgery records. After taking my new baby home, I was contacted by 3 different VOLUNTEERS to see how SHE & I were doing. They were very friendly and respectful of my time & privacy. However, their primary interest was HER well-being & happiness. This organization is committed to providing the CSRA with a no-kill shelter. They rely heavily on volunteers, fosters, and donations. They are an asset to the community and the animals they love and care for.

It was so sad to go to this shelter. The dogs are kept in what looks like a basement area in fences. It looked and smelled as if the cages were rarely cleaned. The dogs were not socialized what so ever. Many of them were trying to fight each other through the fences between them. The dogs would try to bite you (not nibble) through the fence. I was actually bit by one and the lady walking me through did not care and just said "oh yea, some of them do that". The bite was enough to draw blood in an area. It is clear that these dogs are not getting what they need and not taken care of adequately nor are the workers taking care of their visitors and ensuring their safety.

The place was filled to the brim with junk. The room that held the cats smelled horrible. Overall, the place was very run down. To be honest it look more like a house that belonged to an animal hoarder than an actual animal rescue.

I adopted a beautiful Maine coon cat mix from the CSRA Humane Society in September 2014. Her name is Barbie and she is my best friend. The people at the CSRA Humane Society are very sincere and care about the animals. Operating a no-kill animal shelter on a shoe string budget is not for the faint of heart. One thing I really like about this shelter is that the cats are not kept in small cages - they can interact with each other which I think helps them socialize. Instead of carping about the physical facility people need to jump and support this extremely worthwhile organization.

Well these people are rude. Called to inquire if anyone had tried to surrender any reptiles to them and the lady told me to just go to petsmart and hung up on me. I prefer to adopt animals that need homes over buying from mass produced wholesalers.

They're a great volunteer run shelter that cares very deeply about the well-being of the animals in their care. They're a no-kill shelter, and all the animals are fixed and up to date on their shots.

It saddens me to see so many negative statements made about the CSRA Humane Society. I just hope that everyone who felt that way made a significant as possible a contribution. Here's my $50.00 coming your way. Not much but if everyone gave a little, things could change. Please.

I have tried calling for weeks, no one will answer the phone in the morning or return a voicemail. I have messaged via Facebook and they will read the messages but not reply. I have sent e-mails with no reply. I'm not sure if they are actually open anymore.

I don't know how these people are in business. The first thing I noticed was the smell. Dogs were literally walking and sleeping in their own filth. This place should be shut down.

The people here are very helpful. There are a lot of great dogs and cats to choose from. I found the perfect dog for myself.
