I went to Companion Animal Hospital a few years ago when I still lived in Athens. I originally changed vets because during covid, Companion was one of the only ones I could find that let me go back there for the exam with my very anxious dog. I went in for a typical wellness exam where she also got a few vaccines. As we were on our way out of the building, my dog started vomiting and getting very lethargic. I immediately went back into the building with her where the whole team there, led by Dr. Weaver, jumped into quick action. It turns out she had a very extreme anaphylactic reaction to the vaccine. Dr. Weaver did an INCREDIBLE job. While it was touch and go there for awhile, she ended up saving my sweet girls' life. Dr. Weaver knew the importance of my dog's bond with me, and even before my dog was entirely stable, she let me come to the back area and start talking to her, which they noticed really helped her. Dr. Weaver even let me stay back there with her until we could transport her to an animal hospital. Ultimately, my pup made a full recovery! I was SO appreciative of Dr. Weaver and her team. They were not only knowledgeable enough to save her life, but they also treated me so well during it and made sure I was able to be there with her. In our follow up appointments, they were all so grateful to see her alive and doing well, which made me know that they truly cared about her. I now live out of state and am looking for a new vet, which reminded me how hard it is to find a good one and how lucky I was to have Companion Animal Hospital during my time in Athens. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone in the area! They are so good at what they do and really do care about our pets. I'd go back there in a heartbeat!

We have been going to Companion for over 20 years. They have been with us during the birth of puppies and in there sickness and in death. They have stood by us during all of it. And we will always be grateful. And we will continue to go there until we no longer have fur babies. Which we will always have. There are fantastic.

Over the years of my dogs life this clinic gave him sub par health care. My dog is a difficult patient, he's terrified of vets. The office staff was 90% fantastic, but one lady always had an attitude.My dog is now 10 yrs old and in need of care and they fired us. In his elder years they kicked him to the curb with a "good luck". That is not health care professional behavior.Cash the checks of the easy patients... shameful.

I have had multiple dogs that I have taken there and have always been completely satisfied with their staff and doctors. Dr. Navarro is absolutely AMAZING!!! She was so caring and compassionate to both me and my senior Chihuahua throughout his last year of life and as we had to put him down. The entire staff is so caring. My new fur baby loves them all as well. Best vets ever!

Our skittish little rescue dog now walks through the door on her own four feet and no longer requires a muzzle. This is high praise, indeed!Our older dog died about six months ago. They were always very clear about his condition and treatment, and respectful of our situation and wishes. They could not have been kinder, either to us or our little Max.

I have brought multiple animals to the practice and they have always given my animals too knotch service and were able to accommodate us fairly and quickly with what few emergencies we have had. Doctors are very diligent in care and finding exactly what is wrong if able. Have even been able to give explanations of my dogs behavior and they were able to pinpoint it right then and there. The quality of care is unlike any other I’ve received and I can always tell how comfortable my dogs and cats are in their care which speaks volumes. The prices are so fair for the quality we’re receiving, it’s just very hard to put a price on quality care like what they give, but they do a great job at keeping it fair. Thanks again to the wonderful staff for always being so kind and accommodating to our needs and worries. We appreciate it.

I have had the best experiences with companion. I have two cats and the staff has taken such great care of them over the years. Everyone is so personal and helpful. The vets are great at what they do! I’ve also boarded my cats there numerous times with no complaints. The cat condos are a wonderful option that keep my cats comfortable while I’m away. Highly recommended for all veterinary needs!

I couldn't be more ecstatic about my visit here. I was visiting a vet that clearly only cared about the money, and would just try to give me quick fixes which were not healthy for my small dog in the long run. THIS VET LISTENS TO YOU!!! and truly cares and tries to fix the underlying issues. She not only educated me on the issue my baby has, she gave me options and CALLED A WEEK LATER TO CHECK ON HIM! Not to mention my dog is not nice to everyone, very protective of me.. but she knew how to act and what to do around him and kept him calm. I've never seen my Kermit act that well behaved in that setting. She is truly amazing. I don't trust easy but this is someone I trust!

(My original vet kept him in the hospital for 3 days and charged me $1200.00 and still did not diagnose him.)One visit to Companion Animal Hospital and Dr Weaver figured it out and prescribed the correct meds to get my little dog back to his old healthy self. Very pleased! I'm a customer for life!

Up until today the service was fine. My puppy is having surgery and I needed proof of vaccinations so I called to request them while I was on my way there. The lady who answered the phone was rude and did not listen to anything I said. She replied by asking me questions to provide the same information I just gave her then asked unnecessary questions in a rude tone! I told her I was on my way there, when I got there she was on the phone but asked my was I here for records pick up I told her yes, she told me to wait even though she had already printed the records and they were on the desk next to her. Then when she gets off the phone she starts a conversation with another employee, continuing to ignore me. Another employee has to ask her about me then she picks up the copy of my pets records and hands them to me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I can’t stand employees who don’t have the knowledge of proper customer service. I canceled my puppies future appointments and I am finding another Vet. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS KEY & this lady was not it and I do not want to keep paying them my money and be treated like trash.

Good vet if you live in the area but Athens is full of good vets with the UGA vet school. We are spoiled with excellent choices all around. The vets have changed over the years, but the new ones seem knowledgeable just not as experienced as the old vets that have left.Pros: good staff, friendly. Great waiting room with a divider in the middle gives you and your pet some space from others.Negatives: very small and cramped exam rooms, the building shows its age.I've taken my dogs here for years and always received good care, from checkups to surgeries. I do recommend them and have confidence the newer vets will perform as well as the previous.

We recently took our cat for his first visit at Companion Animal Hospital. All I can say is I am extremely impressed with the facility, staff, and the care that was demonstrated during our visit. This is one of the cleanest and most professional veterinary offices I have ever seen. We were seen almost immediately. Our cat saw Dr. Brooke and really liked him! He was extremely caring and thorough with his exam. I am so glad to have found such a wonderful place to bring our pet!

I have to say that I'm pretty surprised to see any negative reviews on here- my experiences with Companion have always gone above and beyond my expectations. The first time I came here my dog was injured and they worked me in at the last minute, which I really appreciated. I've always found everyone from the desk staff to the groomers to the vet to be very kind and informative, as well as cost effective compared to other vets I used to go to in Athens. It's a little out of the way for me, but I'll happily be taking my dog here for as long as I live in Athens.

This place is money gauging.. how can someone pay over $200 for X-rays ? tell me they didn’t see anything wrong 3weeks go by and my puppy still limping .. so I call back to notify them and they tell me they gonna charge me again . Like how can you double charge when you clearly you missed something the first time .. stay away !!!

I have been taking my dogs to Companion Animal Hospital for almost a decade and a half, and I won't go anywhere else. They have always treated me & my dogs with expert care and attention. The staff is upbeat, friendly & prompt. The doctors are knowledgeable and treat me & my dogs with great respect and kindness. When I was a starving college student, they worked with me on my bill & determined a plan of care for my dog that was something I could handle. They are not in business just for the money but for the love of animals. Great job Companion Animal!!

We were treated with the utmost care and compassion when we brought our wonderful old dog, Scooter, in for his last visit. We felt as though we were among friends. Dr. Dan explained our options and sadly, we felt it best for Scooter, to let him go. Dr. Dan and the staff made that sad experience as bearable as possible. They cared for Scooter with kindness and gentleness and showed us great love and compassion. I will always be thankful for the thoughtfulness that was shown to us.

I cannot brag on this vet enough. I have German Shepherd that has seen Companion Animal since she was 8 weeks old. They have always gone out of their way to make every visit a positive experience with squeeze cheese and lots of love. Now I have a wonderfully behaved adult shepherd that loves vet's office trips! So thankful for the staff here.
