Love this shop! They have a great selection of fresh and salt water fish, tank, supplies, etc. James is absolutely great!! He’s always very helpful, informative and so nice. His mother too is such a sweetheart and very helpful! Highly recommend 😊

I always buy my salt water fish from Coral Sea Aquariums. Not only is it convenient in location to my house, but the owner is super knowledgeable. Super lucky to have this gem of a store so close to home. I'm never rushed as I like to browse the store slowly and look at all the fish and coral. He has a good selection of coral too. I used to take my water to be tested regularly until I bought a kit.

Dr James is the best. I first met him when he spoke at Mote Marine in Sarasota for an Octopus conference. He is very knowledgeable, kind, friendly and has a great sense of humor! Support this local gem. Ask the questions - get the answers with excellent service!

Let’s start by saying I was in the store about 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me I guess that’s ok “ NOT “ ! Prices are not that good from my travels around a few places. They do have a Huge sign saying they will beat or price match anyone’s prices and then when asked I was looked at like am I joking and the lady turned and saw the “ Huge Sign” I mean you can’t miss it . I was told I guess so , then I proceeded to say ok sooo do I need to bring in screen shots of the store I deal with because the prices at this one Reef spot are very reasonable like same frags she had but for $25 less . She was like Petco , Pet Smart , I was like NOPE it’s a local pet store that does only salt water I was looked at like I had 2 heads and was told well she can’t make that call it’s up to the Dr. Not only that but there tanks were very dirty and looked gross and not well taking care of at all . I can Say I’ll not be returning to this place ever again

I love this place. I know if I'm having a problem with my tanks or fish, I can pop in and get some great advice. The couple of times they didn't have something very specific I was looking for, Dr.James made sure to put it on the next order for me. I love the family feel of Coral Sea.

Stopped by the store and had a wonderful experience. The owner and his helper are both very knowledgeable and very friendly!!I purchased some live food for my freshwater water tank that was hard to find any where else. I will definitely go back there even though it’s over an hours drive from my house. Lovely store.

Dr. James is very knowledgeable about all things aquarium related. My son wanted a salt water tank and I immediately suggested he talk to Dr. James. Not just a saltwater fish shop. I have discovered that Dr James Wood is also advancing the love of freshwater tank enthusiast, while maintaining the prestigious aficionado title of saltwater fish and live coral provider. Coral Sea Aquarium is also a great place for buying freshwater plants at a more than reasonable price.

Amazing local store! Dr. James has a wealth of knowledge and is able to explain things in a really approachable way, which was really inspiring to me as a beginner in the hobby. Everything is very reasonably priced and there is a good variety of fish, plants, shrimp, decor, etc. Come here before going to any pet store chains, you won’t regret it.

James was so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I went in there with some kinda stupid questions but he was kind and patient and took the time to explain everything. His fish are healthy, happy and one of the first things I noticed was he keeps his bettas in tanks with filters and not in cups like absolutely every other fish store I have ever walked into. We came in from out of town for an improv show, but we will make the 2 hour drive again the next time we have aquatic needs to be filled.

Small business individualy owned.Could use some renovations and updates, but we all know times are tough right now just to stay afloat.However, the owner seems to be one who actually cares about the hobby and the hobbyists, over selling a fish to poor conditions just to make a buck.He has a very wide range of aquatic plants and anemone yetHe's still willing to special order fish that he doesn't have for an interested buyer.A respectable establishment!I will definitely be doing future aquatic shopping here!

The owner is extremely helpful, very knowledgeable and he was more than willing to spend some time helping us out with our little freshwater aquarium that we just started. Neat place for quality Neocaridina davidi of various colors including the red type of cherry shrimp. Great for other freshwater or salt live stock too. Everything looks happy and healthy! Having a tough time finding the red shrimp in stock though. Have checked in person a couple times, called and asked a couple times also. Customer service in person is great, could work on phone customer service a little though, so you don't feel like your taking up their time when you call. All in all a good place to check out. Just call first to see whats on hand, especially if you have a decent drive to get there.

Like the place. Nice selection of salt & freshwater livestock, a tad bit pricey on the equipment, but overall knowledge of aquarium set-ups. Bought a few fish, snails, & crabs.. We lost two within the week, I believe they maybe weren’t doing so well to begin with. Also, Dr. Woods PhD, the new owner... is a MARINE BIOLOGIST! Generally recommend this place! Just be observant when choosing livestock, as you would any other store.

My Wife and I stopped by last night for the first time in a few years. Coral Sea was a great place at one time but fell apart a few years ago. Nice to see a new owner working so hard to bring it back. Stop in to see the new Owner James. Bought a Yellow Angel who is looking healthy at home eating and acting like he owns the Quarantine tank. Great color. Stop by and buy something to help a local a guy. Thanks James for staying open a little longer for us answering our questions.

This store will now be my go to for everything for my fish! The owner helped me understand how to cycle my tank after buying the tank and fish from a big box pet store. He’s super knowledgeable and helped me make the right decision based on the situation in my tank! Definitely recommend beginners who don’t know everything to go here!

I travel the State of Florida for work and can usually tell about a store immediately. Upon walking in I was not overly impressed as the store looked dated. I was immediately (but not in a pushy manner) approached by the owner and then his mom (who immediately told me of there daily specials). The coral selection (Mostly LPS that I saw) was not bad, prices reasonable and the owner was very nice in packaging and answering questions for me which is the number one thing I look for. Some enhanced lights in the main Coral tank would do them Justice as my corals looked much better when I got them home.A diamond in the rough. I will be back.

James and his store are fantastic! He personally helped me find everything from a tank to substrate to rocks for my first aquarium! His store is great for both highly experienced aquarists and first timers like myself! My tank is freshwater and he has everything you could need for it, but he specializes in saltwater. If you have or are looking into starting an aquarium, especially saltwater, or already have one set up I would not hesitate to drop on by and talk to James!

If you are new to either fresh water or salt water aquariums, you will be well advised to start your investigation at Coral Sea Aquariums! Dr. James is a font of knowledge and is running a top notch store and destination to visit.If you are experienced with marine and fresh water systems, this place is a gem! A real find!The invertebrates are literally glowing with health and gorgeous! The fish are possibly the healthiest collection of fish I’ve seen in South Florida!In a prior life I ran the saltwater section of a pet store for several years, later I graduated with marine science and geology degrees, this shop is inspiring and wonderful!Visit it! Be inspired!

Knew what kind of fish I would like before I did!11/23/2019 update!I was busy with work for a few months but I've come back to it and I now have my aquarium all set up thanks to Dr James! The fish all look very happy! Side note, he's very humble, I only learned recently he's run large aquariums out in Hawaii and California, and done extensive research as a marine biologist and educational outreach, as well as co-authored a book on the octopus! Do yourself a favor and come by the store if you're curious about starting an aquarium or are looking to expand your existing one. This was a hidden gem and the expertise you have access to here is invaluable!

After a disappointing experience with the large chain pet stores (I should have done my research beforehand) I was lead to this small, but fascinating shop. When walking in, I was a bit discouraged by the initial appearance inside. But to a trained eye, this place is amazing! There is such a wide variety of species from both salt and fresh water fish, corals, rocks, tanks, pumps, you name it! This little shop has it all. Including knowledge..! Dr. Wood, PhD is a Marine Biologist and was also featured on the Discovery Channel! I’ve never heard of a shop owned and managed by someone like him. He walked me through the beginning steps of my new aquarium, even pulling up a chart to visually explain the cycling process of water in the aquarium. He was very hands on with me and I feel like I left with more knowledge on this new hobby of mine in 10 minutes with him than all the reading I did online.The prices are fair compared to other local shops, especially for the quality of service you will receive here.I HIGHLY recommend this shop to any new and experienced aquarists. I absolutely will come back when my new tank has finished its cycle and look forward to Dr. Wood’s advice and help in selecting my first fish! Thank you!

Dr. James is a SAVIOR! I listened to the employees at Petco when buying a new fish tank for my 2 little boys and their recommendations resulted in killing 5 fish within a month's time. I spoke to 4 different employees at different times and not one of them gave me good advice! I'm sad; my boys are sad...NOT a good situation. Dr. James is helping me to pick up the pieces of this nightmare they created. He is so knowledgeable and always available to help. He always answers my calls and talks me through any questions that I may have. I highly recommend you go see Dr. James for all your aquarium needs and most especially if you are uneducated as it is not as easy as one may think. Can't rave enough about him!!
