Great food at competitive prices. Nightly specials. Nice portion size. Well made drinks. Beautiful, relaxing setting. Wonderful service. The only improvement I suggest is to serve bread with the salad and entree. A once a month murder mystery dinner sounds fun. Plenty of room to hold any kind of special event. Looking forward to the next visit.

Attended murder mystery dinner. The pot roast and pork medallions were enjoyed but the baked Ziti was very disappointing. It took almost 2 hours before we got our dinner. Acting was amateur hour and dialog was crude

First of all let me say my husband and I went for lunch about 3 months ago and it was really good . Food was delicious and our waitress was very friendly .Tonight totally different experience. We walked in the hostess said do you have a reservation? We said no . Then she proceeded to tell us We're out of Prime Rib . We said ok can we sit outside? She said hold on went outside and came back and said ok follow me . She sat us at a table far away from the beautiful view we wanted . My husband saw another table closer to the beautiful view and asked if we were able to sit over there . She looked and said ok take your menus and I'll send someone over to wipe down your table . We sat for over 15 minutes without anyone coming over . We were very disappointed we really wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with beautiful scenery but that did not happen. After 20 minutes without anyone coming we left . I'm sorry I've been in the restaurant business for over 15 years and this was not acceptable. Very disappointed Grand Oaks .

We enjoyed the VIP evening with the International Horse Gala which included a simple meal yet good, a glass of wine, and carrot cake. There was a cash bar, off-brand liquors, but cheap prices and generous pours. The indoor VIP seating with dinner was excellent. We were 20' from the performing horses as they walked by. We love Grand Oaks, much more intimate than Ocala Equestrian Ctr.While the meal was good, it was pretty simple. And there was a mix up in the advertisement on what the meal was. We were expecting pork loin and got ham. Even just a little something extra, as a sauce for the meat, or gravy for the potatoes.Definitely recommend and we for sure will go again.

Love this gem ! Keep the stuffed porkchops please ! Yum! Everything on their menu is to die for ! Excellent Chef ! Great service! We come on a regular basis and are never disappointed !😀Vegetarian options: Mahi, fish and chips salads of all sorts. The chef will make practically anything to meet your needs!Dietary restrictions: My sister has dietary restrictions and had a very delicious meal made to order

This place is beautiful!! We went to hear Lisa Coan sing so we didn't try the food. That will be for our next trip. The surroundings are gorgeous and walking around looking at their beautiful horses was a real treat. We look forward to going back very soon!

The absolute worst fish n chips I’ve ever tried to eat. It was so hard I couldn’t even cut thru it with my fork. It was greasy & fishy! A few other tables also sent back their fish. I substituted it for penne alla vodka with shrimp and it had NO FLAVOR. I ended up taking it home and giving it some flavor. My husband has smothered chicken which was over done and not good. Our appetizer was bacon wrapped scallops which were not flavorful either. $70 later I’d rather of had McD’s. We will never go back. I don’t know how they stay in business.

I had a woman’s luncheon with 28 women and it was in the private room, the room was nice but very dark . The food was brought out and it was cold , by the time everyone was served half the people were finished. The remarks from the ladies were please do not make us come here again. I spoke to the manager and he said they were working short , the trucks did not come in so they were short on food . Too many excuses… very expensive a chicken croissant and fries with the drink came to 23.00. … not worth it !

Excellent Prime Rib Special. Server Robbie and Margo were pleasant, helpful and kind under pressure due to a very busy night.

The Bistro is truly a hidden gem, it has a beautiful bar and dining area. They recently changed all of the tables which are gorgeous. And are fairly larger than the previous ones. The outside has also changed and looks to be some new outdoor seating as well. More tables and chairs to come for sure. They do get very busy at night I would definitely recommend reservations. Food has always been great.

I start out at Morning Star Cowboy Church that is held at the Grand Oaks Museum and if you ever want to hear a moving Pastor, you should attend this Church ( social distancing respected) after Church the Grand Oaks Bistro is open and serves a bvariety of food and beverages. Lastly I sometimes take a horse drawn Carriage ride around the 400 acre resort. It is a wonderful way to fulfill your mindset for the upcoming week of business.

We were really excited to come here for a birthday dinner. It deceptively looked to be a nice atmosphere. 1 meal was good. 2 were not.Two of us ordered $26-$31 beef medallions and they were not good. They weren’t medallions, which are thin round slices of filet mignon…. But we were told they were, so we must be wrong. We were trying to cut thru the stringy hard fat, it had little flavor, just a little undercooked. It was 2-3 hunks of steak—-not medallions. The menu said medallions—they weren’t medallions. It was not a good meal for $31My mother, the birthday girl, asked for no mushrooms. The “chef” must have strained the gravy to accommodate her, but basically, he then didn’t give her any gravy! Hardly any sauce on her meat and ZERO for her mashed potatoes. Can a “nice” restaurant not even handle one special request? It’s not that hard, and many people don’t like mushrooms—it’s not a weird request. The “glazed” carrots had no glaze. None. The carrots were simply pre-cut, bleached baby carrots that they bought in bulk—you could tell by the rounded edges that they weren’t hand cut. Seriously, why aren’t all the chefs in the Villages completely embarrassed about their “professions”? Can no one cut a real carrot these days? I’m literally shocked. In all fairness, the prime rib meal was good. The waitress was nice enough, but brought out the prime rib special without horseradish. Is that normal? Do you have to ASK for horseradish with a $28 prime rib special? Odd.They did not acknowledge my mom’s birthday, even though we told them twice.Really, they’re managed to put cloth table cloths on the table—but it nothing more than a LOW END chain restaurant quality—or less. With triple the prices. We made our polite complaints, but the waitress said she’d tell the manager, but no one ever the management never came. The waitress didn’t alert the management before the bill, so of course there were no adjustments.New management as of last year. Maybe all the good reviews are from the previous management?Don’t waste your time or money.

Amazing service and food. We had the chicken sorrentino with the pasta. It was one of the tastiest dishes I've ever had no joke.

We won’t return. The Bistro has a decent atmosphere and is much quieter than many restaurants. The menu is appealing. So there is clearly potential here. After telling the hostess my name for the reservation, she pointed toward the table, saying, “this is your table and your waitress will be here shortly.” She did not walk us to the table. At first we thought our young female server was new but then we decided she was under qualified. She never gave us her name. In our party of 4, the 3 others ordered Manhattans. Our server asked if brown sugar were an ingredient??? She assured us she couldn’t make the cocktails. I told her I was ordering a glass of the Pembrook Cab which she could handle. She served the Manhattans, then she returned to ask which wine I ordered!! She made no effort to hurry my wine altho I reminded her twice I didn’t have my wine! So, my wine was delayed about 10 minutes. We ordered when she brought my wine, already realizing our server was inattentive and scattered, at best.I ordered the Mahi piccata which allowed me to choose my sides. I ordered a salad and mashed potatoes. The whole table joked about my dislike of veggies to the point where I would have thought the server would have caught that.Another server brought my salad. I asked “do you serve bread?” A brusque “no” was the response. (The salad was excellent.)Our server brought our food. My plate had the Mahi with the dreaded veggies. I said, “this is not what I ordered.” The server froze. I offered, “would you bring me an order of mashed potatoes?” She seemed to be relieved and agreed. All of our plates of food were luke warm. (Except the mashed potatoes!). Everyone was disappointed. We ate it anyway. While we ate, our server rarely checked in on us. When she did, I told her the food was not hot enough; she had no response. We finished our meals, some plates were removed. We waited 25 minutes for our check. Finally, one of our party went to the manager/hostess/bartender to request our checks. Altho she approached our server, still nothing happened. So we all approached the manager/hostess/bartender. She reviewed our check which was not split between the 2 couples, as ordered. Then she had to re-run our bills to correct them. She said of our server, “she doesn’t usually work nights.” And “don’t let this deter you.”There was no apology from either our server or the manager/hostess/bartender.We felt disrespected and under appreciated. This was the absolute low of lows in customer service.

This is a cute bistro located in the perfect setting of the Grand Oaks Resort, surround by beautiful oak trees and horses. The service is friendly and efficient, the food tasty. If you go on Prime Rib, go early because they ran out of it and baked potatoes.
