This is the oldest general store in Florida, it’s a quick stop, the shop is small but it’s like stepping back in time. It is off the beaten path and make sure you Google it the turn off on 50 comes up quick. There are old time candies, jams, cooking items made of cast iron and replica toys and games. They have scoop ice cream and endless soda pop . We did the whole store in 15 minutes including photos.

Very cool time capsule!! This place will take you back in time! When you turn off the main road it looks like a small road to nowhere, only a couple minutes it appears!!! Very nostalgic!! All kinds of neat stuff you can buy here!

This building is the oldest functional general store in Florida. A very beautiful, secluded, historic place. There are many varieties of store products that you could buy 100 years ago. I loved the huge selection of old time candy in glass containers. It has an old functional drink machine at the entrance. The old crank phone is a real treasure. Pickles in huge wooden barrels were a delight to see. This 100+ year old store is worth a visit if you live in or visiting Florida. We will be back.

Cute store out in the woods. Love the history and it's old Florida uniqueness. Lots of preserves, sauces, relish, dried beans, whole pickles, old time sodas, cookware, dried meats, fresh eggs, candy and ice cream. Told us there are singers/guitar players on weekends. Great stop and the woods are beautiful.

Richloam General Store isn't a stop it's a destination! Open 7 days a week and run by the original family since 1928. Dry beans, boiled peanuts, fresh coffee, ice cream, soup starters, a barrel of fresh dill pickles and so much more. A true old florida gem!

My husband and I drove from Tampa proper to experience this GEM and we were not disappointed. We ate millennials who appreciate all things antique. Driving up to this store took us back in time. We parked on the side of a beautiful country road lined with trees and a quiet breeze on a sunny Saturday Florida afternoon. We were greeted by musician, Tim, who has a lovely voice and sang sweet country folk sounding melodies that is just so sweet to the soul.Upon walking in we opened gorgeous narrow wooden doors that were clearly vintage/antique and had so much charm. We then awed over all the vintage candy (much of it not pictures because we enjoyed it prior to the photo, haha) and Richloam branded goods like jam and salsa. Their soda options are incredible! The ladies at the register were the kindest people with so much knowledge about the place! All around the store, inside and out, you can view pieces of the store from its time in the early/mid 1900s including parts of the old post office! It all literally takes you back in time. It is obvious that no detail went unattended when restoring this delightful and special place. It has been family owned for decades and they plan to build a MUSEUM on the property and more to keep this piece of history alive.Tim (singer/musician) is a great, hospitable and kind man to speak to. He educated us on much of the history of the town back when the store came about and why the store was such a staple then. He described it as a MALL of its day which blew our minds because of how small it is compared to our malls today. We wanted to speak to him longer but had plans to make our way over to Traditions Antique Mall in Wildwood and then explore the Villages Brownwood Paddock area and the Villages Lake Sumter Plaza which we’re all delightful.Thank you to this family and staff for sharing a piece of precious history with us. We look forward to seeing your future plans come to life here and we’ll certainly be back and tell all of our family and friends to visit too! God bless you all!

Quaint little piece of history, lots of memorabilia all around inside and out that makes it worth a trip. Road to it is not very wide so it looks more like a paved back road but at least it was paved. They don't have a lot of stuff to sell but definitely have some unique things like specialty jams, salsas and dried beans. They have some very cool old style toys and even carry garden seeds to purchase that you can't find just anywhere. They have good ice cream and mix and match candy in jars. Was a fun little side trip. Very clean but not a lot of parking, which most of the time is probably just fine. Lady waiting on us was very sweet, fun and accommodating. The coffee "cowboy coffee" we bought was very good and the sign says we could have ground our own on the big red grinder if we wanted. There was something antique around everywhere you looked, even old wanted posters on the front of the original post office area.

Cute little store in the middle of beautiful wilderness. They had a lot of “old time” memorabilia like Nehi and Faygo soda in a bottle, or pop, as we say in my home state of Ohio. They had several kinds of ice cream to choose from. It also had an old time post office. There was a gentleman playing live music and singing on the front porch. It was a nice stop on our weekend slingshot ride.

Richloam General Store is a little piece of Old Florida! It’s such a neat little place and entirely worth stopping if you’re driving down Highway 50 either to Orlando or to the beach. The lady running this store has a lot to tell about the history of this place, from the first settlers to the store’s origins, destruction and rebuilding. You should ask her some questions because she is very much willing to tell more. They have many products made right here in Florida, and there are many snacks, food items, sodas, and other miscellaneous items you’d find being sold here 50-100 years ago. You can find old sodas you wouldn’t find anywhere other than (maybe) Rocket Fizz, jams and snacks that are made by local sellers, and there is even a coffee grinder from 100 years ago that you can use to grind your own coffee! They have ice cream, meats, old candies from pre-1950, kid’s toys and gadgets from the olden days, and so much more. The entire store looks awesome and is super photogenic, and even the surrounding area is cool as well. If you’re in this area, make the effort to visit!

This little grocery store and Post office is off the beaten path, rustic, and so neat. I found toys from yester years for my grands and amazing canned peaches, salsas, meats, jerky , iron wear for cooking and old fashioned candy's. It's just very quaint. Don't forget to get an ice cream cone too!

Super cute little general store, with lots of local goodies, and dry goods like beans & coffee. Feels like a step back in time, about 100 years or so. I purchased some sweet pepper relish I can't wait to try, and loved watching some fellow customers grind their own coffee beans.

Richloam fl. Is approx, 8 miles east of interstate 75 and stateroad 50 intersection. Wonderful history. Built late 1920s. Original owner lived in small backroom with wife and 8 kids. Over 400 local farmers used this place for mail, farm supply, shipping, food not grown locally, etc. Store has been restored and is a functional store. I encourage everyone to see this, especially young people. The surrounding area contains even more history. One is Clay Sink Baptist church. You won't be sorry you visited.

The store was really unique! He only sells items from the 1920 to 1930 era. Just a real treasure. We were told he is going to rebuild the other buildings that used to be there. Would love to go back and see it when he does.

Old Florida: Off the Beaten PathWe moved to the area at the beginning of the year and are interested in learning more about Old/Historic Florida. The Richloam General Store is a 15-minute drive from our home in Webster. About a half mile off of the main road on a one-lane asphalt road, it is worth the drive to find this hidden gem described as a "living, working, museum."The store, dating to 1928, is next to where the Orange Belt Railway once carried turpentine and cedar wood north to be made into pencils. The store is still run by the same family and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.Step inside to original furnishings and things for sale that those of us 'of a certain age' will remember from our childhood. Lots of jams, jellies, soup mixes dry goods and pickled products are for sale. We spotted pottery from Zanesville, OH, near our former home. Other products were made in PA. The jarred products were local. Old time games are also for sale like Tiddlywinks. Candy is sold by weight. Grind your own coffee; enjoy hand dipped ice cream. Until fall, the store is open from Friday-Tuesday. When the snowbirds arrive, it will be open 7 days a week."Musician Jim" plays at the store from 12-3 on Saturdays. He had quite a gathering around him on the rocking chairs: people eating boiled peanuts and ice cream, drinking soda from glass bottles and chatting. We were surprised to see a steady stream of people coming into the store: motorcyclists, tourists and locals all enjoying a bit of Old Florida nostalgia.

The Richloam General Store was founded in 1922. It served as the store, post office and train depot for the community of Richloam until 1936. In 2016 the building underwent a major restoration and after being closed for 81 years, the doors reopened February 2017. In October 2017 it was added to the National Register for Historic Places. You Must visit plenty of caned goodies like jams, pickled just about everything, ice cream, different kinds of soda, vintage new toys
