Thank you Vero_IRC Humane Society for our wonderful, sweet, ‘best good boy’. Magick has brought so much happiness to us.You took the time to help us find “my hero” and BFF. We appreciate all you do and your facility is amazing as well as everyone who works there.Thank You so very much!!Magick’s mom and dad (Susan and Jim H.)

Had the pleasure of visiting this facility recently. The staff was welcoming and very knowledgeable and there was no barking. The lobby and outside areas were pristine. Unfortunately I didn't find the small dog I was looking for at that time but will definately follow them to see if one comes in. They could certainly be a role middle for other humane societies.

I was reading some of the reviews about the humane society and I believe it's a good place to take your pet or adopt. My mothers cat currently needs to be euthanized, and we are devastated over it. The cat went downhill so fast after a urinary blockage. He was taken to the vet but he did not get better unfortunately. It's better for him not to suffer. As I was reading through some of these reviews, one imparticular caught my eye. I was really disappointed in this womans attitude regarding the dog she wanted to adopt. She goes on to say that she was upset with the humane society for not refunding her money because the new dog she adopted bit the dog that was already living there? And only in a matter of two hours! It's people like that, that I believe should not be pet owners. First of all, you cannot blame the humane society for the dog reacting to another dog. I don't care what anyone said to you lady, you cannot expect to predict or anticipate an animals behavior that you don't know, but that goes for all animals too! Lady, you cannot expect your dog to not be a dog. What I'm saying is, your animals are going to act instinctively whether you want them to or not! And you can't try and hold the humane society accountable for the dog not responding how you expected my dear. Again, animals are mostly unpredictable. And the girl at the humane society only told you what she knew of the dog, it's not her fault that the dog snapped at another dog. And the fact that you would demand a refund from the hs blows my mind. People are way too demanding , entitled and ignorant now a days it's unfortunate . "I want my money back because the dog didn't do what I wanted it to! It acted on instinct and I am gonna need my money back since you told me it was good with other dogs!" LOL come on people think before you act or react

I lost my dog June 27, 2023. I was in Palm Beach emergency vet. I started to look at a new dog immediately ended up at Vero Beach. I looked hard for a good fog for my elder pup.. I got all my expectations filled. I looked at about 150 dogs from palm beach to vero not one of them was a match for my older dog cause I didn’t want a puppy I’m 62 when I was leaving Vero Beach, they were walking a dog that look just like the one I lost so I went to meet him and I’m sure glad I did best ever his name was Seamus, but I named him Snickers and I love him to death. He loves dogs, cats people kids all ages he doesn’t run he’s good with my older dog , I don’t know what he was doing at the shelter 🐾🐾🐾🐾🙏🙏🙏🙏🐾🐾🐾🧡🧡🧡

My daughter found a dog on there site Sunday 11/26/23, We called to make sure the dog was at the facility before we made an 45 minute drive to their county. Someone confirmed the dog was there but by the time we got ready to go they called my daughter to let her know the dog had been adopted. One hour later someone called my daughter back saying the dog was back at the shelter. On Monday 11/27/23 my mother daughter and I drove down to the shelter (we live up in Brevard County) to go look at the dog so we had to wait a little bit to do a meet and grèet with the dog we were interested. We decided to take the dog. We were told by staff the the dog we were interested in was really sweet and seemed to be good with the other dogs at the facility. Once we got home and tried to do a meet and greet with the new dog and our Pomeranian. Things were okay in the beginning. About a half hour with the dog being in our house the new dog went after our little Pomeranian. We took the dog immediately back to shelter because of what the dog did to our dog. They would not give us a refund on the adoption fee. Its not like we had the dog for a day or two or week. The dog was only with us 2 whole hours (when we left for the drive home 45 minutes 30 minutes in the house and a 45 minute drive back to return the dog). The money used to adopt the dog was Christmas money that was my 82 year old money who is on a fixed income and adopting the dog was going to be my daughters early Christmas gift from my mom. I feel its totally wrong of them for not refunding the money to us being the situation. However it would not be fair to anyone else trying to adopt a pet. When I left Monday to return the dog the girl at the desk she couldnt do anything until she talked to her boss on Tuesday. I called yesterday 11/28/23 to talked to someone as I was instructed to do so. The person who answered the phone said she would talk to someone and return my call by 1pm and no phone call. Today 11/29/23 no one will answer the phone. If this doesnt get resolved I am going to seek help to get my $$$$ back

I adopted the cutest little black 9 week old kitten named Branch last week. I changed his name to Jet Blackson. It took a few days for him to come out of his shelter shell, but He is everything you could want. Sweet, cuddly, cute, sassy. There aren’t enough words to describe how great he is. Everyone should adopt a animal from the humane society. He had all of his shots and was nuetered and microchiped. He gets along great with my mothers shitzu. He is getting a lot of attention and love. There was so many more cats I wish I could adopt as well. Thank you to the human society for providing me with such a wonderful pet.

We went to look at a cute little cat missing his eye. The staff is very knowledgeable and asked many questions to help find us the perfect match for our household. We ended up with a different cat that would be better suited for my active young cat. Stanley is settled into a bed an hour after getting him home now and loving his new accommodations.

Despite me being a retired USAF officer on 2 acres with a large fenced yard, the inspector graded me as unfit to adopt the dog I selected. These people really pissed me off.

Feeling pretty sad that I have to leave a negative review on a place like Humane Society. But I have been hunting for an orange kitten for the last few weeks as a surprise for my daughters 13th birthday. They had two, so I drove an hour up here with my 3&4 year olds. Walked in and told the girl at the desk we were there to meet the orange kittens. She was helping someone and told me we needed to have someone let us in but we could look in the window. We looked in the window and then patiently waited in front of the desk to meet the kittens. The girl at the desk completely ignored the fact that I was even standing there as she helped a couple other people. I stood there waiting patiently for over an hour and when she was finally done with everyone (except me) she started chit chatting with a coworker about the cats who’d been adopted that week. While I still just stood there waiting. About 5 minutes into their conversation, the other employee noticed me and asked if I’d been helped. I said I was still waiting to meet the orange kittens... The girl at the desk looked at me and said “oh you wanted to meet them?” (Which were the exact words I’d told her when I walked in the door an hour earlier) so yes, I want to meet them and take one home. I certainly didn’t drive an hour to look at them through a window. She sighs and calls someone else to let me in to meet them (mind you now she’s made us wait until AFTER they closed). Another girl showed up to let us meet them, she seemed a little irritated that we were there after closing, but I’m guessing she had no idea we’d been waiting to meet them for over an hour. So she let us in the room but told us we couldn't touch the kittens and couldn’t adopt them today bc they were closed and we should come back the next day to meet and adopt one. This was very irritating as apparently orange kittens are a hot commodity and we drove back home disappointed. We were unable to go the following day as it was a Friday and I had to work. Got up early this morning and both of the orange kittens were already adopted - it took one business day. So I’m back on the hunt for my daughters birthday present after wasting two hours of gas & time driving there with small children to be completely ignored for over an hour until they closed and turned me down.Extremely disheartening for me and my 3&4 year olds who didn’t understand why we didn’t get to take one home. I understand that the people working here might be volunteers but if you’re putting someone at the front desk they really should be trained in customer service skills. Personally, when I walked in wanting to meet them, she should have buzzed someone up right then. I unfortunately didn’t speak up the entire time bc I figured she was going to be the one letting us in and I was trying to be understanding that she was helping others. I don’t understand what she could have possibly thought I was standing there for that entire time or why she chose to ignore me and let me continue to stand there once she was done with everybody and have a casual conversation knowing someone was still standing directly in front of her desk. This girl was you with brown hair and glasses.I gave only one start for the girl at the desk and I decided to give two stars simply because the facility itself seemed great. The cats were happy and cages were clean. It was very well taken care of.

I personally love the Humane Society I got my first kitty Mrs. Fuzzybutt from there 21 years ago she was already full grown and she lived an incredible 20 years. I recently wanted to get a new kitten and wanted a brother and sister so naturally the first place that I thought of was the Humane Society. I got my self 2 beautiful little kittens Star and Gizmo and hopefully they will give me 20 years of happiness like Mrs. Fuzzybutt did. If anybody is looking for a new furry friend I highly recommend the Humane Society.

All they care about is getting that adoption fee. They will adopt you a dog that will ruin your life and try to bite your children but say they are children friendly. But leave all that out at adoption and tell you how great they are. Should really be more honest about the dogs your adopting out. I’ve never even seen a shelter adopt dogs out to literally anyone so quickly usually takes days and home visit, back to only caring about the money. What’s new in this world though.

I can’t thank The Humane Society of Vero Beach enough for their kindness and warmth. I adopted an adorable senior dog yesterday named Moxie and they made my whole process so smooth. I felt so welcomed by Isabella who worked the front and those that brought my dog out were so sweet as well. Moxie was just groomed today and we already love her so much. The care and medical attention she received before my adoption was top notch. 🙏🏻❤️🐶 They truly care so much about every animal and it shows. Please adopt a pet today from there! You won’t be disappointed.

Took my CCHH to the HS for her 3yr rabies vac today, & it was revealed that they now offer complete veterinary services! I remember years ago when the clinic opened & the Vero Beach vets were up in arms because they didn’t want the competition. The HS explained they were not a place to come for ‘treatment’ but only for preventive vaccines. That’s now changed, & I am more than happy!

I recently got a puppy over the weekend (Ariel) now Ella and she is the sweetest pup ever ! The facility was the cleanest I’ve ever seen a humane society. All the staff were super nice and friendly and it was just a great environment. We later found out after taking Ella to the vet is that she’s a pit bull terrier and had gotten hit by a car when she was younger and now walks with a limp but doesn’t cause her pain. So because of that her adoption fee was waived and I’m glad I had gotten her because she is now in a loving home and enjoys playing with her 3 other siblings. 100% would recommend this place.

this review is long overdue but I haven’t figured out how to upload pictures along with it. oh well. just know they’ve got super cute loving kitties and life companions here! I drove 2 hours to this location and adopted a kitten named Blaze a couple months ago and he has brought pure joy to our family. He’s such a lover and got along with my other cat fairly quickly and now they’re inseparable. It was a very easy process and one of the best decisions I ever made!

We went for just a rabies shot for 16$ - - - 70$ later… They did another vaccine, and a physical. (without knowing if even needed) Never told us they would be doing all this up front. They should disclose costs up front. Should have just gone to the vet.

Super friendly staff. Call before going in. We wanted to see several specific animals. But their restrictions disqualified us. The one we got to see was not even one we planned to see. We understand wanting the best home. But to be denied to "see" an animal because it is hyper and we have a child under 14 uears old? That should have been our choice to make. We have a fenced in 1/2 acre for the right animal. We met a 7 year old animal and was told she just likes to lay around.

This is a very nice facility. The staff and volunteers are dedicated and do an oustanding job of caring for the animals. Diane was wonderful and knowledgeable. She took the time to introduce my husband and me to the kitties. We intended to adopt two, but ended up with three young ladies. Cali, Poppy and Summer adjusted and seem to love their new home. Thank you to the staff and volunteers at the Humane Society of Vero Beach😻

My husband and I were so impressed with this facility. Extremely clean, no smelly odors, animals treated so kindly by all. Other shelters and Human Societies should sit up and take notice. Perfect example of how it should be. All people working there were so nice and helpful. And yes, we adopted 2 dogs. Love them already!!

I am a newcomer to the area and as an animal lover one of the first places I was interested in checking out was the local humane society. From the moment I entered the doors my expectations were exceeded! The facility itself is beautiful and clean. The staff was engaged in their respective duties especially in the cattery where I saw many volunteers spending quality time with the cats. I was surprised to learn the shelter also has bunnies for adoption. I found a bunny and cat I wanted to take home and can't wait to return and adopt when I am settled in my new home. Vero Beach residents should be very proud of this facility!

They have a beautiful facility. Everyone was very kind, helpful and informative. 10 out of 10 I do recommend. All the sweet babies get shots, are microchipped and spayed/neutered..
