We camped here as a family a few months ago. We were fortunate to get a campsite right along the rivers edge. My kids loved fishing from the bank and walking on the trails at the back of the property. They even have a really nice pond for swimming at the north end of the campground if you are so inclined. Campground was quiet and the spots were large enough to fit two tents and a minivan with plenty of room to spare. We will definitely come and camp here again!

Fantastic place for camping, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bird and nature watching. Usually not very crowded very nice boat ramp and you can even rent canoes and kayaks. This is one of my most favorite places for kayak nature watching. There aren't really any swimming accommodations unless you are Keen about swimming with the Gators. There is a little convenience store at the check-in place where you can buy basic necessities and refreshments. There are showers and restrooms.

I grew up camping here, so I'm definitely biased. As far as car camping in south Florida goes, this is some of the best. The people at the camp store are some of the nicest people, the fishing is fun, but not excellent, and the creek is beautiful.

We went camping with the kids for 4 days and had a great time. We rented bikes, went canoeing, and hiking. We recommend going in months when it's a little cooler. It can get very hot in the summer months. We will definitely be back.

Lots of alligators!!! Great camping areas! Kayaks are nicely priced. Staff friendly. Bathrooms could use a weekly cleaning or bleach scrub and spray. Laundry area available and clean. Swimming pond also 5 stars because I didnt come here for the bathrooms

Great place for an early morning hike. Can get a little hot in the middle of the day (not a lot of shadeuntil you reach the fort center historic site.) Lots of great birding here as well, crested cara cara, bald eagles, kestrels, swallow tailed kites, egrets, herons, and many little warbler friends. There are also snakes here too, black racers, Gardner snakes, greens, moccasins, pygmies, yellow rats and more! Only negative can be all the cows, they are cute but sometimes don't like to moove (ha). Good place to bring pets, keep on leash (the cows) but usually not too many folks here and plenty of acres to explore. Awesome historic site at fort center and you can see all the old citrus trees from the Spanish. Oh, and gators, LOTS of gators. I've either convinced you this place is awesome or made you swear it off, but I love it. Fun place to bike too!

Natural Florida in all its beauty. It's right off the highway so you will hear vehicles at night but that's something you get used to. The trail is a great experience, and depending on when you go and what site you pick, you can be in total seclusion from other campers.

Excellent park. Canoe rental daily or for over night trips. Camping sites looked very efficient, (I did not use camping facilities. )Call ahead for vacancies as this weekend the girl scouts had taken over. Over all great place to do some paddling, plenty of wildlife.

Beautiful, old Florida, full of nature! We kyakked down river and saw so much nature we were amazed. Well worth it for a day trip. They rent canoes and kayaks.

Such a huge expanse of protected land, just a short trip away from the hubbub of it all! No hookup spots so ideal for those who want a quieter camping experience. There is a gun range in one part, camping across from it, and a huge area of land I haven't even begun to explore. Please respect the environment and keep this pristine!!

Great for Kayaking, canoing, small motor boating. Large enough to make a day yet small enough you can get lost. Lots of alligators to be seen, some larger ones get up close and personal! Looks like a great weekend camping experience.

We love fish eating creek. Every year we try to put together a family camp and this is our new spot as the place we used before went to the dogs. Everyone here is friendly the staff are very nice and I love that everything is under the canopy. I love this place.

Eh hit or miss for me. Have been twice. April a few years ago water was low had to walk river devices some times, still a beautiful and fun time. They had kareoke at night and arts and crafts for the kids... This time the bathrooms were gross and not kept up on toilet paper or soap... Bathroom floors were nasty.... I usually were flip flops and bring my own to anyway but this was a bit much... And the campground wasn't even really busy. There were boyscouts doing more than staff was for sure. It is a beautiful place to visit and escape the city for a bit but this rating is solely on my last visit this past weekend.

Stopped here to check out the campground. Once you register, the office will let you in to do a 30 minute tour/drive.There are lots of tent spaces and RV sites as well. There is a boat launch and a place to rent kayaks and canoes so you can tour the river.There is a small lake for swimming (if you are ok with gators) and lots of trees so you can get a shady spot if you need.A great place for families with kids!

Underrated Florida river and nature area. Tons of alligators, birds and flooded cypress trees for you to walk, canoe/kayak or camp. You'll feel miles away from everything while still being a stone throw from the main highway, nice campsites, rentals. They have a 9-mile canoe trip worth doing, it takes ~4 hours and very little effort since you are going with the stream. Highly recommended

I would give it 5 starts if it had a playground. The lake is very pretty, there was a nice breeze (just not in campsites L, where we were). And the roads were all under construction, the bicycles were or not of service, and the swimming home closed. We enjoyed playing in the sand, it's a great place for hiking and biking.

Do not bother going there to plan on small game hunting in the morning or duck hunting the creek. They do not allow Hunter's access to the boat ramp until 8:00 a.m. in the morning, which is too late in the morning to start duck hunting and pretty late to start small game hunting. Absolutely pointless to say on the brochure that the boat ramp is access year-round and then have a gate there that you need a code to get in. Worst Management area I've been to.
