This is an awesome dive! I have done the creature feature many times through the years as well as regular dives with Captain Slates. The crew is awesome. Safety first. Swimming with the nurse sharks and moray eels is amazing. Highly recommend this dive operation!!

Captain Slate’s is absolutely awesome! We were traveling to the Florida Keys for an early spring diving experience. We wanted a dive shop that would show us all that Islamorada had to offer under the water. We set up our diving by calling (though I am pretty sure you can do it online as well), the front desk was so helpful and knowledgeable. But the actual dive days were everything we were hoping for. Captain Slate has put together a terrific crew that was the perfect mix of friendly, accommodating and safe. Capt Dillon and first mates Grant and Clay made our dives fun and full of beautiful coral, fish and unique creatures. Being experienced divers, We loved having the independence to make the experience our own. But they offered excellent advice and kept us safe the whole time. And every day ended with yummy rum punch and music to motor home with. We felt like we were part of the family and would easily return for another dive experience with this crew. #divingisfun #shutupmeg.

We spend three days diving with Captain Slate’s. I have nothing but positive things to say!! I have been diving for greater than 20 years and it was such a pleasure to be diving with a company who treats you like family! All the staff was wonderful from dive shop operator to the diver master and captain!! Our favorite dive was the creature feature! This is a must if you want to get up close with nurse sharks and Green Moray Eels. We also dove the Eagle wreck which was fantastic! Dillan our captain made the trips fun with great music! Josh our dive master made sure we were well taken care of and comfortable. We loved the rum punch at the end of the day diving! I felt so comfortable at Captain Slate’s I had my 15 year old daughter certified for her Open Water Diver with Grant. He was awesome with her! Grant made sure she knew her stuff and had fun! Captain Slate also made it out on one of our trips! I will be diving at one place when we return to the keys - Captain Slate’s!!

Capt Sharky and DM Clay were great! Casual but professional and very personable. They know their business and even gave us the contact info for an Everglades tour that does smaller trips. I will definitely be diving with them again.Also, the predive trip manatee encounter was the icing on the cake.😁

I was on the island for just over a week, and during that time the staff there were nothing but kind, accommodating, and, simply put, fun to be around. The boat crew knew their reefs and the animals on them front to back. Dillon and Grant were professional yet kept a good atmosphere on the boat with excellent music choices and well mixed rum punch. Chris was also a gem of a dive buddy on an excellent, (if chilly) night dive. The fun dives were exactly that: fun!But if you're looking for instruction, whether you're a novice or a professional, this shop has some of the most experienced individuals in the industry. They're frank with you, they don't blow smoke, and you'll become an excellent diver if you learn from them. If you have the privilege of learning from Skip, you're on the best possible path you can be. Never have I met someone who's more experienced and still active in the diving community than this salt, and I am grateful for the opportunity. It's thanks to him that I'm now a dive instructor.If you get nothing else from this, please know that this is a family-run organization with a bunch of amazing people that you would do well to support, because not only will you be supporting a local business but you'll have a fun and safe time doing it.

Captain Slades Scuba Adventures is fantastic! The office staff is Wonderful! The Captain and crew are helpful, attentive, and fun to be with! My sister-in-law and I took my 13 year old to scuba dive for two days on the reef and were very happy with the crew! The Captain took us to great dive locations and the instructor helped my 13 year with identifying fish and thorough diving instructions! We hope to go on more diving adventures in the future! Oh yeah, Captain Slate is a lot of fun as the host!

We had a great dive this past Saturday afternoon. We visited two sites, and they were awesome. They gave excellent tips to see the various sea creatures. Professional, knowledgeable, ran on time. The office person who runs the office incredibly friendly. Chris, our Captain gave me some tips, which I appreciated.

My friend and I had such a good time with Captain Slate on his creature feature that I came back the very next weekend with my fiancé to get him scuba certified and dive with them again! I went diving and my friend went snorkeling the first weekend and Dillon was so helpful for my friend and made sure she could still safely interact with the nurse sharks and she was able to actually pet one! Thank you Slate and Dillon for such an awesome time!

Did a Sunday AM snorkeling trip with Slate + crew. Everyone on the crew were seasoned professionals, fantastic senses of humor and made everyone feel at home. We had an incredible time. Highly recommended!

While tied to a "ball anchor" on the coral reefs outside the Keys, a commercial dive boat from this company approached our position and anchored RIGHT ON TOP OF US.The crew acted like we were not even there. We kept quiet until a couple of divers went in and swam under the stern of our boat. We had exposed hooks near them plus the rolling sea was causing the outboad lower unit to rock up and down, a hazard to their heads. When I called over to the crew to let them know their divers were at risk, the response from the dude in the blue t-shirt was "well go ahead and hook them", VERY unprofessional. I told them we were here first, why did they have to anchor next to us and he responded, "this is my dive spot". Well, I reminded himNO ONE OWNS THE OCEAN and water and he could of anchored in a hundred other places. I am often on the water and there is no way I would set my foot on a boat where the crew were so complacent concerning the safety of their passengers and other boaters.

Capt slates is a great spot. I've been diving with them 4-5 times per winter for the last 2 years since I was certified with them. Most recently w capt sharky and clay in November and we had a great time 2 days in a row. As always turtles, sharks, eels, lobsters and a variety of fish but this time we saw a pod of atleast 8 dolphin with 2 babies as the highlight and clay taking a swim too. Solid family business whether you deal with Hunter, Sky or the old man. Thanks guys, I hope to be back soon!

Thank you Dillion, Grant, and Abby! My trip with family and friends couldn’t have ended on better note! Really cool dives, tons of Marine life. Hands down, the best dive crew I’ve seen in Key Largo. If you want to progress or get instruction, they have two of the best instructors I’ve seen ever. Grant, was cool to talk to and get advice from and you had Dillion and Abby with great vibes. Brining family back this summer!

My family and I did the Moray Eel and Shark dive, aka Creature Feature. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but the person on the phone made me feel like it was a good idea. He explained that the 3 incidents they have had in 30 years were due to not following the rules.The crew thoroughly explained the rules on the way out, and it all made sense. We hopped off the boat and began one of the best dives any of my family had ever been a part of. The Eels are incredible, watching them swim past you only a foot or two away is a rare sight. There are always those who refuse to follow the rules, one genius had a GoPro strapped to her wrist and pushed it directly in front of a Moray Eels mouth for her video. Most use a extension pole for this, but not her. These are the people that give unique things like this a poor name. Somehow, she lucked out. The shark dive was equally amazing, and none of use ever felt concerned at any time. This is a well structured dive with excellent safety protocols that make for an incredible experience with marine animals most only see at a distance or in pictures. The crew were all very nice, the boat was spacious (something I don't often get to say about a dive boat), and we look forward to diving with Captain Slates again. Thanks for making our Keys vacation memorable.

Best experience for a real family friendly Florida keys dive experience! We saw so many great wildlife including nurse sharks, eagle ray's and eels! Great crew, safety is a high priority and FUN a close second! We loved the adventure and the celebration rum punch at the end of several very successful and exhilarating dives. Greatest place to scuba dive or snokel in the Florida Keys, probably even in all of Florida. Staff and Captain Slate are excellent, safe, educated and entertaining...seeing is believing. If you are ever in the FL Keys you must check it out for yourself, you will not forget it. You will certainly have an adventure!! I recommend Fri and Sun morning dives...enjoy :)

Dove with the legend Mr Slate for the creature feature.After a quick check In with the Lovely Mrs Sky we were aboard "The Lost Continent"The crew got us settled in and we were off to the reef.A short boat ride later we were diving in with captain Slate himself and spent a hour on a pretty reef surrounded by fish and 7 sharks.A brief surface Interval brought us to our next site. Here we got to see some bigger sharks, at least 5 eels and some gorgeous reef and fish.A nice relaxing ride back to the dock too wrap it up.Can't wait to do it again soon.
