Unfortunately I had to rescue 3 baby kittens in my backyard shed the mother never returned to nurse them so I had to save them! I was looking for an adoption center for 2 days that would take the kittens until I found hoffmeyer at the pet supermarket! without question they look through all resources to try to help us, they found a nursing mother at they’re rescue center that adopted them and they were very experienced knowledgeable people that helped the kittens. Because of them I know the kittens will be happy and healthy and go to a great home. I’m happy to leave a five star review, as they kept me updated throughout. Sending me text messages and pictures to let me know how the kittens were doing.

We have adopted two new family members from Hoffmeyer Animal Rescue. Both kittens were well adjusted as they were given excellent care by the Foster volunteers from Hoffmeyer. Both fit in perfectly with our family and our dogs and cats. I highly recommend adopting from here.

I cannot thank Hoffmeyer enough for what they were able to accomplish for us. We decided to purchase a home in Grand Island that was a fixer-upper. Not only did the expansive property and inside need work, but there were nearly 100 feral cats and kittens on the premises. As an avid animal advocate, lover and rescuer... I knew we needed so much help. This was far beyond what we could do alone. During our inspection, my significant other and I were able to gather a litter of kittens so filthy and flea infected and sick, that one nearly died in my arms. Lake County Animal Services came out to assist immediately and recommended Hoffmeyer for the level of animal hoarding and TNR needs. With the consent of the previous owners, Hoffmeyer began trapping prior to our ownership. They continued to do so after we moved in. All but 2 cats were able to be trapped, who have since moved on. We could NOT be more thankful. We've finally gotten control of the flea infestation for our 5 rescue animals to be able to be outside comfortably, and it's such a blessing to know that they helped nearly 100 souls from the torture they never asked to exist in. They go above and beyond to help as many animals as possible even when kittens are stuck in sewers, they called for help to make a rescue! This rescue truly helps the most in need animals and they all have the biggest hearts of gold!

Awesome animal / cat rescue . I moved to the area a few months ago and recently a cat has came to my yard and been living in the drainage ditch . It was very skinny but super nice . I have a female German shepherd who is not super cat friendly and we were unable to keep it. I was concerned that the bear or coyotes that live in the neighborhood may end up getting it or that it would starve so I started looking for rescues that may be able to help it .Hoffmeyer responded immediately, let me borrow a cat carrier to transport and took him in. Turns out he was not a kitten- he was about 3 years old , very underweight and had some medical issues going on. They were very kind and clearly very experienced with cats.Highly recommend them for anyone looking to adopt or donate .

From my experience, this shelter and group of people really do care about their cats they have! I got my boy 4 months ago now when he was about 8 weeks old and this shelter helped and communicated with me every step of the way. My baby was born from one of their rescue cats so the foster mom filled me on with every single detail she had about him and what she knew of his mom& upbringing. A few weeks after taking my kitty home he did get sick and the shelter was so accommodating to keep him for care and provide proper medications. This place is still a rescue shelter so there are still going to be some sick or rehabilitating cats there, but after my experience with them you can tell that these people really love these lil guys and what they do!*almost year later UPDATE*I got a second lil guy from them and have had him for 7 months and the shelter was yet again just as kind, caring, and supportive as they were when I went almost a year ago. Plus the team loves updates and remembers these little guys and with how many of them they get, that’s super impressive!!

This shelter is doing such an amazing service to cats and the central FL community. We just adopted a kitten that is the perfect match for us! Throughout the process, the Hoffmeyer team was super kind and helpful. They get MANY cats and house them at the main shelter or the Pet Supermarket 25 minutes away. We arrived at the shelter for a specific cat to find out he was at the Pet Supermarket. Luckily, they put a hold on him so I could get there before someone else. My advice is to keep an eye on their availability and act quickly if you see a cat that may be a good fit. They get adopted very quickly. Try calling the shelter beforehand to ensure the cat you are interested in is there and available.Warning: If you do go to the shelter location, be prepared to see a lot of cats. I could not stay long because even though the shelter was very tidy and clean, the odor was extremely overwhelming. I will also say that my kitten was sneezing a lot, had some dried mucus, and passed on laryngitis to my other cat his first week at my home. Apparently, this is a very common occurrence with adopted kittens and maybe not specific to this shelter. However, that caused me an unexpected $300 vet bill for my cat right off the bat. Because of this, I will not bring him back to the shelter for neutering. I will opt for a place I am sure is sterile and safe. Just be aware!Edit: It wasn't Laryngitis, it was coronavirus that developed into FIP so it was actually a $3000 unexpected bill. I'm lucky my cat is alive.

We had a great experience adopting our baby, Jax, nearly a year ago from Hoffmeyer. When a neighbor passed away and his family just abandoned his beloved cat, Cruiser, to the elements, we knew who to contact. As soon as they had room, they opened their arms to Cruiser. Those of us who had been caring for Cruiser are so relieved he is in loving arms until he finds his new fur-ever home!!

Since the moment we walked in, we noticed it was a place full of people that were genuinely passionate about what they do for these animals. It was honestly so hard to walk out with just one because they’re all adorable! We knew we wanted a tuxedo cat and we found one almost immediately. From the moment we had him in our arms, he was ready to be loved. We are very happy with our choice and see ourselves maybe adopting another in a couple of years.The people here are super friendly and professional.

Hoffmeyer Animal Rescue helps so many animals find homes, and it is absolutely wonderful! The first time I came here, I met a woman who was brushing (I think it was) mites off of a cat who had them so bad. I saw this cat again while I was at Hoffmeyer another time, and she looked so happy. They take great care of the cats here, and you can tell that when you walk in the door of the place. The cats are just lounging around, meaning they're relaxed in their environment. There are a few cats/kittens in their own cage, but that is only until they get their vaccinations. Everyone else is roaming free with the other cats. I actually also attend a cat yoga class here, so I get to hang out with the kitties as well. The volunteers work very had to make sure all of the cats have what they need, and are well taken care of. I definitely recommend Hoffmeyer!

Adopted a wonderful cat. I went in wanting a kitten but immediately fell in love with an 11 month old cat. She is perfect and purrs constantly. I couldn't be more pleased with their facility and the information they give you on the cat you're adopting. They made the process extremely easy.

This place was amazing. What a wonderful experience. You get to see the cats interacting with each other... staff was very friendly, helpful, an knowledgeable. They really want all the cats an kittens to find loving forever homes...we adopted 2 brothers to add to our family. Both are full of spunk and super playful. We absolutely love these little guys. Not only do they not tell you the price of adoption before you fill out the paperwork $175. But 2 days after bringing our kitten home we are in the emergency vet for a $1200 bill for a gum infection, respatory infection and blood work we are still waiting on results of.We normally adopt from lake county shelter and have never had a issue with our other 2 cats. On the paperwork they give you they don't even have a vet listed. I knew something was off when we went in and alot of the cats had obvious medical issues with no seperate spaces....its just 30 cats in a room. Which would have been fine if they were are healthy. No I realize why they make pet insurance as part of their adoption paperwork.... Hope this review saves another family from this experience. Do yourself a favor if you want a animal please adopt from the lake county animal shelter at least they make sure the animal is healthy!

I got my fur baby from here about a month ago, Getting her was one of the best things I’ve done, and loved being able to see the other cats while being there! I adopted a kitten from Hoffmeyer in early September. He was very sweet, but seemed ill. The staff began to very defensively claim he was not sick, to the point I knew something was off.Within a few days I took him to the vet and we began a month-long series of appointments to try and help my families new fur baby. I reached out to the rescue to ask for help with the climbing vet bills and was brushed off.Just after a month, our kitten died. I reached back out to the rescue again to ask they help with the 1,500 dollar vet bills they dumped on our family by knowingly adopting out a sick kitten and they refuse to communicate. Based on reviews I'm not the only family they have done this to.They're unprofessional at best, I suggest ANYONE go to your local shelter before becoming a victim of this shelters scams.

I can’t express adequately the love and dedication all involved show daily to help rescue the homeless cat society. I just 2 days working with a couple people I heard story and witnessed how hard the people involved with this organization work to care and find homes for the cats/kittens.I rescued 2 cats from the woods behind my house. One I took to the vet, spayed and shots then found a home. Then we purchased a home in another state and time flew so I didn’t have time to do the same for the other. They stepped in and immediately went to work to help. They CARE and didn’t give up. They help without knowing me or the kitty. I’m still in awe of the level of dedication everyone showed:).

I adopted the sweetest cuddliest tuxedo kitten from Hoffmeyer Rescue a few weeks ago. They really care about their cats and kittens and do their best to meet the needs of these animals.
