As a new Florida resident, I visited the Sparr location in The Villages, Florida. I spoke with a gentleman named Gerry and explained to him that I knew nothing about how to take care of a Florida lawn in The Villages. He spent 30 minutes with me in the fertilizer area explaining exactly how to maintain a healthy yard and saved me hundreds of dollars with his advice. I will be buying all of my materials through Sparr as a result. The store was impeccably clean, well run and every employee was courteous and helpful.

Sparr building and farm supply is conveniently located for me. They have a good supply of things. I can always find something to make it work, even if I can't find exactly what I went for. I wish they carried a better selection of chain and cable options. The store is clean and the staff is friendly.

Very nice and helpful people once I arrived, but I had a hard time getting anybody to help me on the phone before I drove there to see if they had stock. I was hung up on and left on hold too long.

I normally frequent your other location, in Wildwood. As a matter of fact, that was the only one I had been to until the other day. From my first interaction to loading my vehicle, it left a terrible taste in my mouth. This location really needs to take notes from your other store.*First, I went in to ask where the mulch was and was told it was outside and noticed she was pointing to the front of the building, outside. Knowing that doesn't make sense, she asked which kind I wanted so she could ring me up.Your other location has sample displays of the different types so you can visually see and make your decision. Apparently, this store requires you to know what they have in stock before you get there. If you don't know what they have, you'll have no other option than to do this;-You've gone inside the store and are now directed back outside and next door.- Go back and get in your car.- Drive next door and up to a gate.- Sit there for an unknown amount of time until an employee walks over to you.- Drive to the mulch and determine which you want.- Drive back to the gate and wait for an employee to not check the receipt you don't have and explain what you're doing.- Drive back to the main building.- Go back inside to pay for what you want.- Go back outside to your car.- Drive back next door and wait at the gate again.How does this a) not bother people? b) fly with management? How is anybody ok with this absurdity? Why do you not have anything in the store to look at for customer's to decide THERE so they can pay THERE, then drive to pick it up?! Unreal.*For the love of God, give your employees a golf cart to go back and forth. People wait forever at that gate, sitting.. Waiting.. More waiting.. Just to watch one person walk a quarter of a mile, just to walk back again because the guy in front of you needs fencing.It's very unorganized and because of that, I spent more unnecessary time rather than something that should have taken 10 minutes from start to finish. Your cashier's look and act like they hate their job. Seriously, take a look at the Wildwood location and compare it to yours. It's night and day.

Well I bought some stuff and paid with a cc. There was a gentleman out in front of the store raising money, and I needed change! And they wouldn’t give me any! It’s for supporting families that need help and they wouldn’t give me change so I could donate to a good cause!

Friendly staff, always willing to help you if you can't find want you wanted. Every time I've been there, I've left with what I needed. Great place, fair prices, like a down home hardware store.

Every single person there is great! The staff really cares! They go out of their way to help me understand easier ways to accomplish whatever home repair I might be facing. They really take the time. On top of that the prices are usually better than depot or lowes. Always my go to spot for any home repair needs. They even have all the odd new light bulbs for the modern light fixtures...not what you would expect from a farm and building supply place...so much more!

Went to this place to get some lumber and some 2x4s. We bought almost $500 worth of pressure treated lumber and went to the lumber yard to load it all up. We pulled in and the poor guy couldn’t even find the 3/4 inch plywood. He also couldn’t read the tape measure to try and find it, so my husband did. As they’re helping us load it into the truck, halfway through they had to get another pallet of it which was fine. While we’re waiting for the rest we notice the top piece is infested with termites. After looking at the other pieces we discovered they were too. We checked the other batch and it was also infested with termites. We kindly went back inside and got our money back to go somewhere else. If you’re looking for lumber I don’t recommend here. The people were nice but the product was not. Please check everything if you decide to buy from here. They should check this stuff routinely, especially before giving to customers.

Customer service at register was very unpleasant. Cashier was rude, cold, and definitely not suited for any type of customer service position. We almost left without the sale. However Brandon also an employee in the loading area was extremely pleasant, polite, wonderful customer service very out going young man. Because of Brandon I give my experience rating a five 🌟! Way to go Brandon!!

Horrible farm supply store. I have called this place and visited this place three times within the past 2 months for pig wormer. They have told me each time they have not weighed out the pig warmer but would have it done by the next day. I've drove 30 minutes there and back three times with no Pig wormer. Two members of management standing right next to me as I'm explaining it to the cashier and neither did not have one thing to say about the situation. I would say this all falls under poor management! Will not be doing business with them any longer!

My favorite hardware store. That is incredibly polite. And they go out of their way to help you. Prices are reasonable and location is perfect for me living in Citra. I am in there at least two times a week. As I am pulling up right now LOL

Great local supply store. From horse feed to baby colored chickens through Easter, they have it all. Good prices and quality merchandise. Store employees are very friendly and always welcome you to the store. Definately better then the large commercial stores. Remember, if you have a large order you can call in your order and they'll deliver it to your barn. Super store Fantastic employees.

What a joke this place is. They may have been around for a long time but they definitely don't know how to treat someone THEY offered a job to. I was lied to and kept completely in the dark for WEEKS!! If you're looking for employment I would definitely not recommend going to this place. And they will definitely NOT be getting any of my business for as long as I live here. I'd rather drive to Ocala and give my money to Lowe's.

The older cashier was rude. When I asked where the things I wanted to buy she called for help then sent me back there. I went not knowing I had to pay 1st. But the young lady in the back barn was super nice. Not knowing the process was intimidating almost to the point where I almost left.

An awesome surprise!On March 10 2021 I bought a lock from Sparr Building Supply in Citra Fl, for $7.48, at the time the computer was down so I had to fill in the Visa Card manually. To my surprise the amount was posted to my account twice. Because I was in the process of finding a car to rent to drive to Canada and packing, I didn’t have time to return to the store about 11 miles away so I decided on my return months later I would still go to them and bring it to their attention, even if I was a bit on the late side.On March 27 I was checking my bank account activities as I often do, and there it was, a refund of $7.48. What An Awesome Surprise. Note: it’s not the amount, it’s the honesty of this company. A rare commodity these days. THANK YOU SPARR in Citra - I truly appreciate it.❤️

I called from out of State to pre pay a delivery for my parents. I paid last week and asked NO NAMES to please call or text them to let them know it was there. Called today Dec. 21,2021 and spoke to the same individual. I confirmed the phone number with her? Called back in the afternoon and still no go. I asked if they had a gift card or could text or type something - NADA. She told me she would credit my card and e-mail me a copy. Well I was frustrated yes. Think about it. I prepaid last week. Don't bug them til a week later and all I get is it is TO MUCH TROUBLE. That's sad my parents got deliveries from them HMMMMM. Well they don't get the feed gift and Sparr is out $386.00. On a happy note Happy Holidays

We go here a fair bit and am usually satisfied with the service, but today it was beyond appalling! The young girl at the checkout couldn't have been more disinterested if she tried. We were given two different prices for lumber from two different people. We were left waiting at the lumber yard for over 10 minutes for service. Called manager to complain, he said he would be down, but was a no show. In the end we drove over and started loading ourselves.

Extremely difficult to get merchandise prices or I quite about delivery. This uses a very cumbersome process. I found what I wanted, I clicked on “submit quote” I ended up with an email saying the quote number but no prices no more information. I finally called yo ve told it has to be accepted by the manager who does not work weekends snd it won’t be looked at until Monday. My question is????? What if I just walked in and wanted to purchase on the spot? I’m asking for delivery because would I have to get a quote??? Truly very confusing to me. I guess Lowe’s is where I’ll order snd get it delivered without the hassle

Love this place. It's been around since I can remember. They just moved across the street to a new building. It's like a old time Hardware Store to me, very nice people & always helpful. They have everything from Livestock & Animals food, Viggie & Flower plants, chickens & other critters & alot more. Just know they do run out of some items & get some of the items are only available there during certain Months. 🍅🐔🍉🦆🍓🐓🌶️🐤🍆

I always go in to Sparr with a great attitude, thanking a hardware and feed store in the heart of horse country must know what they're doing. I always leave completely P.O.ed. Either they 1) act like they have no idea what products I'm talking about even though it's a common farm implement or tool or fixture or 2) you pay for an item and they load the wrong thing at the warehouse. They are lucky they are the only game in town, because if they weren't they wouldn't be in business for 10 minutes.

Okay place to shop, but observing some of the items prices, the home depot has better deals, also my paying attention to the cashier associate scanning my items, i notice, and had to bring to her attention not to charge me twice for one same item, after all she was very courteous and polite.

They have a great variety of animals food (personal pets and farm). Also I was glad to be able to order ducklings before they came in. Online prices of ducks from duck farms are ludicrous and these are a reasonable price.

Disappointed that Sparr isn't better about standing behind the products they sell. Bought a split cross fence beam and it broke in the center where there was a big knot. We had just put up the fence and bought the materials about a month ago. The manager would not refund me the cost of the beam. I had to buy a new one, so essentially I had to pay double. Stinks in times like these. I won't be shopping here for a little while. TSC an Rural King are closer and cheaper.
