The only reason someone would shop at Dollar General over Walmart is the convenience of its location. They now force you to self check out which people are very slow at and it creates a line for self check out. I'll save the wait and some money but just driving the extra distance to Walmart.

I went to a Dollar general store on 85, not so good with directions but they had the most beautiful stockings they had displayed which I thought was for sale. The manager sad no their ours for each other. They were beautiful. Then he did the most awesome thing for me. I won't exactly say but he made me the happiest grandma ever. Just want to say thank you and may you all have the happiest New Year ever. Will be visiting again soon. God bless you all.

This is the Bessemer, Al location on Dartmouth Avenue with wonderful customer service. My friend and I stop to get an item an ended up buying a lot more. The store was clean very well organized something we both desire. The manager assisted us with the beverages utilizing our coupons correctly. The parking lot was even clean gave me a great prospective for going inside to shop. Thanks dollar general for the service everything was great and we will return for shopping.

You can find just about anything you need at this Dollar General. Great deals on food and toiletries. They have a table near the entrance where you can always find some great clearance items such as the last holidays leftover candy and decorations you can get for next to nothing. The employees here are always very friendly.

They have most of what you might need in a pinch. The cashier line can be long sometimes or take a while due to lack of help, but not terrible. The parking lot is nice and easily accessible.

This store seems to have items other stores don't have. I'm always pleased to find little treasures! The crew here always makes me feel like I'm part of their family!

You can describe these stores best by "controlled chaos". I can't really rate them as a company, but I can say the staff in this store does their best. I've been in other Dollar Generals, and they are not as clean, and organized as this one. Kudos to a underpaid staff.

Today around 3:30pm a friend of mine and I went to the Dollar General in Shalimar, Florida. My son had to use the bathroom pretty bad, and I was going to look for an item. When I first walked in the cashier had a customer, but since my son was dancing having to use the bathroom so bad I said "Excuse me, where is your Bathroom" the cashier ignored me. So, thinking maybe she just didn't hear me I said it again. This time she looked directly at me, the back at what she was doing and ignored me again. I said "Excuse me, my son needs to use the bathroom, where is your bathroom?" She finally gave me the key to the bathroom, and when I started walking towards the back she said, very rudely, "WHERE ARE YOU GOING? THE BATHROOM IS OVER THERE?!?!" So as I turned around to walk towards the bathroom I simply said "It would have been nice if you would have said that before." She said, again very rudely, "I DID!" My friend that was with me tried asking her for the key to the woman's bathroom and she again completely ignored her. Then my friend heard her mutter "I do not have to put up with this. I do not have to take this today" I then said "This is ridiculous." She screams across the isle "I CAN GO GET MY MANAGER" I told her "okay, please do." The she tells me "I AM THE MANAGER" my friend told her "How can you be the manager? You just said you could go get the manager." She finally goes to get the manager, and as soon as he walks up he tell us to leave. Would not let us explain anything just told us to leave. Then as I'm trying to tell him what was happening and how his cashier was acting towards us simply for asking to use the bathroom he walks outside to get a cart. He had absolutely no interest in what we had to say, no "I'm sorry this has happen", nothing. Simply "You need to leave." I find this insanely unprofessional, and incredibly rude. I understand she had a customer, and any other time I would never have interrupted their transaction, however my son really had to use the bathroom. All I did was asking whether the bathroom was. She could have said it would be a moment, or something, however she decided to ignore another customer and then yell at that same customer. I'm aware that my business will not hurt this company, however I will never step foot into the Shalimar, Fl Dollar General again. I also hope that you get a better manager for this store, and I hope the managers at the other Dollar Generals in the area are not like this one.

Love stopping by this Dollar General to pick up the few items I need (ie toilet paper, coffee, cards, misc, etc) instead of having to go to a larger store, like Walmart! Always friendly employees.

Amazing deals especially on stemware mugs plates and other dining items. I always end up buying a lot more than I intend to! Good sturdy corkscrews have lasted me over a year and would normally cost $10 anywhere else. Sahuaro stem margarita glasses that I previously paid $5 a piece for! Jack Link's wild hot beef sticks that I previously paid two and a half to $3 for! And of course nothing's over a dollar and food has no tax here in Florida! It can be addictive.

While the staff is nice, the store itself is crowded and confusing. Not everything is a dollar, and some of it is in the wrong spot, so you end up paying more than you want at the register.

The one I will ever go to is the one right over the Shalimar bridge, it's clean it's organized the people are friendly. I've never been in a Dollar general that looks like a model store, bravo to the team!

A very neat, clean little store right here in Shalimar. When you are in a hurry and need that one particular item, you can usually find it here. Great friendly staff too.
