My family and I purchased a Weimaraner puppy about two weeks ago, and we have been very happy overall. The puppy was on the older side at ~16 weeks, which made us a little nervous due to missing most of the critical socialization window. However, Petland seems to have done a great job socializing her while she was in their care for over a month. She is a confident, intelligent, loyal, gentle puppy who has done well with all people and dogs she's met, is eager to please, and learns quickly. She is my fifth lifetime puppy, and has been one of the easier ones so far.The only reasons for four stars instead of five: first, our pup did have a couple of minor health issues. Cellulitis (skin infection) on her abdomen, and a diarrheal illness. Both cleared up quickly with antibiotics. No big deal, but still had to be dealt with. To Petland's credit, her vet care, including treatment of these concerns, has been free/covered by Petland.Second, their initial pricing is eye-wateringly high. That said, they were quite negotiable with us. I don't know if that's the norm though, as our pup had been "in stock" for a month and is not a breed they typically carry. They special-ordered her for someone who never showed up to get her. Anyway, we negotiated 33% off their ask price, which still translated into about $500-1000 over the average breeder price for a Weim. In fairness, the free vet care has given substantial added value.Last thing - admittedly a bit of personal commentary. We were willing to pay a premium for our pup because of the privacy and convenience of the Petland experience. I am old school I guess. All of my prior puppies I went to a breeder, spent five minutes meeting the puppies, picked one, plunked down some cash, and went home. I guess a lot has changed in the past 10 years since the last time I bought a pup. It seems Petland is the only place you can go now without being subjected to a total invasion of privacy just to get a dog. The application requirements at breeders and rescue centers have gotten absolutely ridiculous. Thank you Petland for not going this route. I'm happy to pay a little more to a place that respects people's privacy and does not act under the premise that everyone is a dog abuser until proven otherwise.

We just got an amazing sweet puppy from Petland Sarasota! We love him! We have had many dogs over the last 40 years including a puppy from a breeder, and this by far was one of the most amazing experiences we ever had Our saleswoman was Beth. She is kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. She loves all of dogs She explained everything we would possibly need to know about adopting a puppy. We got everything we could possibly need with the purchase of our puppy. When we got home, the puppy was unafraid of the crate and just about housebroken. The puppy is sweet, affectionate, smart, and a happy little guy Never have we adopted a dog that was so emotionally secure and easy to manage. We are very grateful Beth was there She made the whole experience memorable Love our new child!

Words can't begin to describe how much help Cade was during our process of purchasing a Cavachon. Staying with us the entire time to ensure that all the paperwork and even the credit were in order. Though it was getting late, he was able to show extreme energy and was ecstatic to present us with 'Seraphim'.Please give this store a try, they will do miracles for you.

Has anyone experience purchasing a puppy from here and the dog started having seizures after a year old? The state law is only 1 year warranty but sometimes illness doesn’t show up right away. That should be extended without emptying your pocket more buying certain foods and vitamins every 3 months - that’s added up really quick - and if your on a tight budget it’s not fair to the customer

I came into Petland not even planning on purchasing a dog and ended up walking out with one 😊. I was helped by Liz and she was AMAZING SERIOUSLY. I am a first time dog owner so I am still learning a lot. Liz answered all my questions and made me feel so confident in the whole process. Not only was Liz great but the ENTIRE staff was so kind. I will say my puppy did get a bit sick after being in the kennels BUT they have great deals with their Veterinary so it ended up being a quick easy fix! If your thinking about getting a dog I would definitely recommend here!!!

Just lost our dog a few days before Christmas. Went to the store in a need of a pick me up. I saw the sweetest boy. They let me sit and visit and play with him till my heart was full. If the puppy wasn't out of my budget I would have taken him home on the spot. He was a teddy bear puppy. The people in the store were so kind and respectful. They took the time to show me how all the puppies come from top breeders and are very well cared for. Highly recommend this location. If you see the teddy bear puppy hug him for me and tell him I think about him every day!

We could not be happier with our experience! We were able to see the personality of our new family member before we brought him home and when they place him in our arms he chose us❤️ it truly was beautiful experience!

Enjoyed looking at all the puppies! Was interested in Yorkies. One female....so cute...easy to fall in love with her. Hopefully some males will arrive for my perusal. Expected the price and was not shocked. If you love puppies this is the place to go and spend some play time with the variety of breeds

Shout out to Liz & the staff of Petland in Sarasota for the amazing experience in bringing home my Pomeranian puppy ♥️ they provided so much information & assistance & are partnered with one of the best vets I have been to (Sarasota Veterinary Center)The package they give you along with the pup is worth so much in itself!Also, the nicest staff who remember all their customers & furpups!So happy I found Petland & would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for making my first Pom the happiest big sister ever!

THIS PLACE NEEDS TO GET SHUT DOWN, STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!! IF YOU ALSO BAUGHT A SICK PUPPY FROM HERE REPORT THEM TO THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER DEPARTMENT!!!!!I Went through a huge issue when I baught a puppy here. My puppy came home sick with parasites, breathing difficulties which turned out to be a respitory infection and giardia he continues to struggle with a digestive disorders and still doesnt breathe like normal 7 months later. Their "warranty department" is just ONE NEGLIGENT PERSON, jennifer, who Is not at all helpful. After going back and forth with her for months I sent her all the paper work she requested she hardly responded and and when she did she would argue EVERYTHING, NOT COVERING my out of pocket expenses. Petland has yet to reimburse me for all the out of pocket expenses. Do yourself a favor and buy directly from a breeder and stay clear of this place. Another BBB complaint will follow this review and I have reported them to the department of agriculture and consumer service department to inform them of this!!

Be very cautious when adopting from Petland and be sure you know the breed and what to expect when adopting from them. Their contract is very deceptive and if you are not happy with adoption the claims department is full of lies and deceit when discussing what you signed. Make no mistake about it there really no returns with them. They just as well state all sales are final because everything you are told is a lie. They were advised that I had an allergic reaction to the puppy we adopted they told me that was not covered for a return which is a lie. Our puppy also was seen less than a week from adoption at the vet for vomiting and diarrhea and was found to have a parasite which we are now treating her for costing us hundreds more in vet bills. Likely she picked this up prior to her adoption.Avoid Petland if you can.

I just pick up newest member of my family 6 days ago. Absolutely love her. Sweet best temperament calm yet can be frisky believe it or not .I think sometimes we actually communicate. Its crazy but true Teddy Bear is her breed.

I am furious!!! we bought a rare french bull dog puppy from here. Next day he began to cough and had mucus and discharge coming out of his nose. 3 days after getting him we took him to the vet. He was diagnosed with an upper respitory infection and a parasite he was given round of medication which we are still administering and he has frequent vet visits. We are constantly on high alert of him when we should be enjoying our time with him. unacceptable!!! they are supposed to be seen by vets before they go on sale let alone when they arrive and when they leave, clearly he was not seen or they would have caught it!! I will be submitting a BBB complaint following this review. We paid way too much for a puppy who was not given the proper care!!

I started looking for a Lab puppy but I did not see any that made my heart skip a beat. So I looked at this local pet store in Sarasota. I saw this chocolate and tan Chipom Puppy and it was instant love at first sight! I made an appointment to meet the little fella. Dustin was very helpful and knowledgeable on the adoption process. He also helped pick out his name. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. The adoption process went smoothly. I absolutely luv my puppy Conway Milton. He is perfect❤ I will definitely buy another puppy from Petland.

Beautiful puppies. Just overpriced. They will try and tell you that they give you so much when you purchase from them, however the extra thousands isn't worth it. You could find the same puppy for less elsewhere.

This was a wonderful store. I purchased 2 harnesses for my dog. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I think the dogs for sale appeared to need their hair cut, and a good bath, but that is just my opinion.

I have lots of mixed feelings about this place. Everything was very well organized. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. It was a Saturday afternoon and lots of people were in looking at dogs. We held several sweet little puppies, one in particular we fell in love with. Price tag...$8200. That is not a typo. The clerk explained that this breed cannot have babies on it's own. The breeders inseminate the female artificially, then perform a C-section to retrieve the puppies.This seems brutal to me. It had to be traumatic for the mother. At the very least it helps me understand why people argue against puppy mills and breeders especially when there are perfectly healthy, cute puppies up for adoption. I left there feeling ill. So much money for a dog. And yes, the dog gets all of its shots, papers, a kennel, bowls and food, but there are a lot of people making money on this. I can't condone it. It isn't for me. The pups we were interested in ranged in price from $3500 to $6500 to $8200.I'll be going to the Humane Society to get a rescue dog
