This is the coolest pet store I've seen in Sarasota hands down. They have all kinds of cute fuzzy critters, plenty of cold blooded beauties, and a plethora of winged chatterboxes. They even have tarantulas!! The staff all genuinely seem to love working there. They don't mind if you come in to browse, but if you can buy something they are a local small business.

The best pet store around here! Their fish tanks are clean & not overcrowded. Their reptiles aren’t kept in tiny enclosures in multiples. The baby birds are handled so they’re easier to adopt out & adapt to their new home. Their bird boarding is a huge relief when I go out of town! Affordable, accommodating, & I know Beakman is in good hands. When I left her for a few days, she seemed so happy! She got to make little birdie friends in the cages next to her. Overall the staff know what they’re doing, the prices are better than most places, and the husbandry is 100% better than most pet stores. Love this place!!

I’ve been coming here several times a month for years. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. The shop is well organized and always clean. Pricing is better here than most pet stores and they have a wonderful wide range of healthy, happy animals to bring home to your family. Over the years I have brought three animals home so far and they are my absolute heart. Family Pet Center Sarasota is also the only place I trust to purchase my frozen feeders from for my reptile children.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience! I got a baby love bird and the staff was suuuper helpful and patient with helping me choose and get all needed supplies. The store was very busy and the phone kept ringing but the member (s) helping me were still so kind and professional through out. AND my new bird companion is extremely sweet and well cared for. I’m so happy! Thanks for a great experience and a wonderful new member of the family!

As far as fish stuff goes, this place leaves A LOT to be desired...! You're better at a big box pet store than here...! I did buy something, can't remember what though... Fish are an "oh yeah" product and dry goods were very sparse... It's too bad that newbies to the fish keeping hobby may be fooled that this is the standard for fish...! Much improvement needed in that department, so for fish(live stock) go to Wet Pets for quality or a big box store selection & quantity...! Thanks, I'll check back in in a few weeks/months and hope for some improvement...!

Super cute little pet store with some of the most beautiful birds! They also had some of the sweetest little bunnies. There’s a 27 year old gray parrot named Quincy who needs a good home so maybe someone can go rescue him!

Have been going in to look at the different reptiles there for over a year now. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Last month I bought a hypo red leatherback bearded dragon and it just gets more and more beautiful. I make sure to stop in now weekly for supplies and to see what’s new.

Over priced. I understand the stores have over head put when four dozen feeder shrimp cost over $22 that is crazy. I also know that $350 for a ferret is over priced. I would not go to this pet store for any reason. They lost me as a customer.

Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about all their animals. Fish tanks always look so clean and healthy unlike the big "name brand" stores that always have tons of dead fish in them. Reptiles are very well taken care of and not stuffed into little tanks. I get all my reptile needs from them as well as all my fish for my aquarium. I highly recommend them.

fantastic staff. we board our demonic green flying attack pigeon here. also known as Bean the quaker. everyone there takes such good care of her even though she is such a handful and has special needs. I really can't praise them enough. thank you

They have a large assortment of animals fish hamsters lizards snakes geckos bearded dragons, ferrets and all kinds of pet related products, I really like the salt water fish room it's beautiful and the fish are very healthy

We went there looking for a bearded dragon for my daughter. The young lady we spoke to was extremely nice and very helpful. She got us everything we needed and answered all of the questions we had. Needless to say we left with a new family member. And what a beautiful reptile he is.

Great pet store! Went today for a fish tank setup and left with that and 2 parakeets. Everyone was very helpful and nice. We definitely will be making the trip to go back and use them as our go to pet store!

Sorry this is so long. If there was a minus zero that’s what I would rate Worst customer service ever. Been a client for over 7 years. Needed my bird nails cut. Have a broken foot and going for surgery for knee replacement on Tuesday. Manager was awful. Three people working when I got into the store there was one other person that needed help in the back. She absolutely refused because they had to help people in the store. I guess that’s not what I was. Also was buying close to $100 worth of food since I wont be able to drive for 6 weeks. She could have cared less. Never suggested I wait until she helped the 3 people there on line or go shop and come back FYI the others came in after me and the time it took her to argue with me the bird nails could have been cut. Takes likes 5 minutes. Sometimes you just need to make an exception for a good customer Obviously not how she was trained. So I am no longer a good customer and will never step foot in there again which the manger was very pleased to hear Wouldn’t give me any information on owner so this is the only place to complain. I can tell you I was not nice when I left. My background is customer service and I guess I just expect to be treated how I treated all my customers. I always try to buy from local businesses rather than chain stores What a disappointment, I guess pet smart now has my business

A Family Pet Center is the BEST place to get a pet. 2 years ago I was looking for a class pet. I came across this place after going to many pet stores. This place stood out because they actually let me hold the hamsters. The other places would not let me unless I adopted them first.I could tell that the people here actually care about the animals they had which made me happy.Our hamster lived for 2 years (Spicey Meatball) she was the best hamster anyone could have asked for. She never bit. She did escape a few times but we got her back. The kids loved her and the parents loved her. When parents asked me about where they should go for a pet I told them to only come here. When spicey passed I knew I'd have to come back here for a new friend. Casey was so helpful and helped me pick out and name my new hamster. I couldn't be more thankful. She was so kind and she was taking such good care of the birds that were being boarded there. I'll recommend anyone and everyone here.

I love this place so much. The staff are so incredibly knowledge and passionate about their love of animals. I'll board my parrot there when I need to, and at this point they know her by name, it's really sweet. They're very accommodating if something comes up, and I always know she's being well taken care of and well loved. Besides the great staff, they also have great products, they're the only place nearby that I can get the kind of food I need for her and they have all kinds of high quality stuff you wouldn't find at a PetSmart or other big chain. I can't recommend this place enough.

I came in here for fish for the 1st time in a while and the employees don't seem to know what they're talking about. I wanted to buy a scarlet badis that was in a tank with some peacock grudgeons and the girl kept saying it was a peacock grudgeon. It looked nothing like the grudgeons, acted completely different and they kept telling me I was wrong. I didn't want to pay 3x the price just bc the employees are uneducated on the fish. I also wanted to buy dwarf/pygmy corys and they brought me over to a panda Cory tank. When I told them "no I'm looking for the tiny ones that are silver with a black line" she said that I'm thinking of a panda Cory and that they don't get over an inch and are considered the same as a dwarf/pygmy. They are not the same type of Cory at all. I left feeling extremely frustrated and will not be back.

This place is amazing they have a huge selection of exotic birds, reptiles, animals and fish. Their aquarium section is super dope as well. Bought our sugar glider from here too.

I would not pay attention to "good" reviews of this business. My wife left our pet bunny there on Sat 7/22 to be boarded for 5 days. While traveling, on Monday 7/24 she received a call that "Bobby " was DEAD !!! Allegedly, he was found dead on Mon AM? Needless to say my wife is DEVASTATED. Bobby was older but he was EXTREMELY well cared for; Vet checkups, Nails clipped etc. As for ME..I more ANGRY--and CURIOUS as to HOW this could have happened??? That being said, I am NOT my wife--I will INVESTIGATE this matter and find out EXACTLY what happened.This TRAGIC incident is NOT over. And in the meantime I will let everyone I know about this place--along with posting reviews on as many platforms as possible.D ThomasSarasota

Great selection of stuff, fair prices and I take all three of my parrots there for beak, and talon trims. Also, gotta love Grandma, the Amazon parrot, who is sometimes there. The service is friendly too, it's the only place I go here in Sarasota, and I live a block away from another establishment, so I'd rather drive 10-20 minutes so come here than to go somewhere I am ignored, I can't say it enough, the customer service here is unlike any other owt store I've been to.If you have parrots they do offer free trims if you spend a certain amount of money on merchandise, and as a parrot owner you know it's easy to spend money on toys for them to destroy, so this discount special is very welcome to have. Overall, if you have any type of pet and looking for great customer service and expert advice, this is your place.
