Was it pure luck, tireless internet searching or divine intervention that I found these AMAZING people. I have used them to board my dog before I got a service dog through them. My boy can be a little “special” at times and I don’t like leaving him with just anyone. Let me tell you his first stay with them was like he knew them forever. He was so comfortable with them which eased my mind. Emily, Jen, Jim and Jay are fantastic human beings and even better dog trainers! They had my girl Shuri from birth until about 8-9 months old and you would have thought they had her for YEARS. First her genetics are stellar. Personality THE BEST. On top of that she is the smartest and most attentive girl. I often forget she’s a year old and most people don’t believe me when I tell them. They put in countless hours of training to make sure she was ready to go home. When I took her home I was given lessons on what to keep up with and how to keep working with her. When I have any questions they are always more than happy to answer them. I truly believe this was the best thing to happen to my life, meeting these people!

What can I say about Abovethestandard dog training? They are the absolute best! They live up to their name because they go above the beyond. We dropped off our sable workingline German Shepherd for board and training, they did amazing job fine tuning everything that our dog needed. And also trained us as well how to be a better dog handlers to keep our boy happy and satisfied all time. The next thing I would like to say is their customer service is absolutely unbeatable. I would recommend them to anyone who would like to be a better dog handler being able to have fun with your dog and train at the same time. Keep up the great work abovethestandard!!

Absolutely love the team at Above the Standard! All the trainers are very professional and thorough. The team only sets your dog up for success! It’s amazing to see how far my dog has come. He went from being terrified to walk around the block, to off leash trained in 4 weeks. 5 stars doesn't seem like enough! 10/10 would recommend.

This team absolutely changed my life. I had been looking for a service dog for close to if not over a year when I came across them and thank god I did. From the start their customer service has been absolutely incredible, answering any and all questions will full transparency. One of my favorite things is that they post everything on Instagram so you can really get a sense of how they train their service dogs as well as the breeding process too! I loved following along with my Baloo before finally getting to meet and take him home. And the care didn’t stop there. Emily, Jay, Jen and Jim always want to make sure that you are comfortable and confident handling your dog. Any little hiccup I run into they are at the ready with troubleshooting and guidance. You can go to any ole service dog program and get a cookie cutter dog or you can go to Above The Standard and be paired with a dog you can’t help but feel like was bred just for you. 5 stars isn’t enough!!! I know when the time comes and my boy has to retire, I will never look anywhere but Above The Standard for another service dog!

Back in December of 2023, my 4 month old puppy, Arlo, took a trip from NJ to FL to get trained by Jim, Emily, and the rest of the amazing team at Above The Standard Dog. Before them, Arlo would bite ALL the time, had no recall, no place command, tugging always, and honestly just lacked structure since we were first time dog owners. Since then, we have been able to actually enjoy our pup, continue his training at home, and get to take him places!Jim and Emily are great at communicating with you throughout your dogs stay and sending/posting videos with any and all updates! We still talk months later if I need any advise with training.I would send Arlo back just so he can play, enjoy there company and land, and get refreshers/more training if and when needed.10 out of 10 recommend to anyone with a dog! ♥️

Emily and her team are the absolute best of the best. She had my puppy for a board and train and we couldn’t be happier. Emily takes the time to answer any questions or concerns even long after training has completed. Emily took my dog back for a refresher a few years later when some life changes occurred (baby, new pets, etc) to help with the adjustment process and once again we were blown away. Emily is not just a trainer, she cares SO much about all of her clients and their dogs and is personally invested in them being happy. Jim and Jay and the rest of the team are also absolutely amazing. Have recommended at least 10+ friends to Emily and they have all been just as happy. Will continue to recommend her to anyone looking for a dedicated, kind, and exceptional trainer.

I cannot recommend Above the Standard Dog Training enough! They are truly exceptional in their dedication to all dogs, but in my case, rescue dogs, providing them with the training they need to find loving homes. My dog Scooby was a rescue that the Above the Standard team took in, trained him, and advertised him for adoption. Scooby is a testament to their expertise. Thanks to their guidance, Scooby has become the best companion imaginable and incredibly well-behaved.Everyone on the team is awesome. Emily, Jay, Jen, and Jim are the most kind hearted people and super talented at what they do!Even though they moved from New Jersey to Florida, all of my future dogs will come from or go through their training. I can't say enough wonderful things about Jim and his team. We were nervous to leave our Dalmatian, Bruno with them for 3 weeks but what an amazing change we saw! Jim was very communicative during that time and sent us pictures and videos of Bruno's training. We never worried about his well being or his care. Bruno came back a changed puppy and we have continued his training at home. Very loving environment for your dog. Highly recommend!

I enjoy every walk, every trip, every brewery, every steep mountain hike, rock climbing trip with my dog now because of her training with them. Board and train is necessary for busy dog owners to give the foundation to be successful on our own.She is happy, calm, and now confident because of Above the standard. Last weekend she hiked with us past many dogs and didn't bark/lunge/growl like she used to. Then we went to a playground, and every kid hugged her and pet her and she enjoyed it calmly and gently.

We are so pleased with Above the Standard! They not only trained our quirky rescue, but they trained us too! The continued support after training was a pleasant surprise and gives me peace of mind that they are always available for any support I need. We were so lucky to find the Above the Standard Dog Training team for our Goldendoodle Winston! Winston left home and returned a few weeks later a totally different dog! If I could give them 10 stars instead of 5, I would! The team behind ASDT is inspirational. My family was blessed to adopt our dog Balli from this incredible organization. Balli was a stray, that was found with a shotgun wound to his face. Above all odds, Jen, Jay, Emily, Jim, and the rest of the team nursed him back to health and spent countless hours training this amazing survivor. Jen obviously poured her heart-and-soul into caring for and training Balli. During Balli's board-and-train, I received daily updates and videos on his progress - which was AMAZING! Jay drove Balli 1,000 miles from FL to our home and spent several hours introducing and training us how to care for Balli. He has been an unbelievable addition to our family. If you are looking to adopt or need top-of-the-line training for your dog - trust these folks. You won't regret it!!!

I will start by saying can’t recommend these trainers enough!! I was actually recommended by family that had recently sent their dog for training that had great success. So, I sent my 11 month old working line shepherd for a 4 week board and train program. He was having major behavioral issues that were getting out of control. I spoke with Emily over the phone and she not only reassured me that they could accomplish this in 3-4 weeks, but she went so far as to get my dog in within days!! Not to mention she drove 3 hours to come get him! I was updated pretty much daily on his progress and what they were working on in addition to allllll the photos and videos! One major example I will use is that my dog was having severe leash reactivity towards other dogs.. barking, lunging, choking himself, pulling.. the whole 9 yards. I wasn’t able to take him on walks because of how he would behave.. but let me tell you, in a matter of 4 weeks, Jay had my dog walking in a perfect heel and basically ignoring any dog that was in his presence. I was speechless!! This was just one of the many many things they were able to do for us. My dog also was not a fan of being groomed and they were able to groom him with no issues or reactivity! This group of trainers are so dedicated to what they do and are the best! Jay was so kind to drive my dog 3 hours back to my home to work with us because he wanted to make sure I could be as confident as possible with the new training tools. I could go on forever about my great experience with them! They are amazingly wonderful people and if you are looking for a reputable training program, this is the place to go!

Emily was there for me when I was in need of some guidance with my working line German shepherd puppy. She drove 2 hours to my house, trained for 2 hours & then had a 2 hour drive home. She’s responsive to text messages & super helpful with any questions. I’m boarding my dog with her in a week and I’m feeling less stressed knowing my dog will be in such good care. I 110% recommend Above the Standard dog training. Emily is a pleasure to work with & knowledgeable with what she does.

Emily is a class act. We absolutely love her and cannot express enough how much she's helped our German shepherd. We've done several board and trains with her and never disappoints. She's accommodating, reliable and very responsive. When we first got our pup, I would text her non stop and she always responded. Even when she doesn't have our dog, she still checks in to see how she is doing. I wouldn't recommend anyone else!

Emily would get a 20/10 if I could. I am the owner of Vogelhaus German Shepherds and Emily does all of my puppy raising for my families who need/want additional training prior to taking the puppy home. She is also a consistent referral for anyone who contacts me needing training. she continues to provide above and beyond customer service, quality dog training and so much more. she provides consistent updates on how the pups are doing whether its obedience, socializing etc! there is no one else in this area that I would recommend.

I cannot recommend them enough, they completely transformed Kevin’s ability to take family walks (next to a stroller and with an older child riding around too). Emily Richardson and her tribe of Jason Alan, Jen Tice Lear, Valerie Bruder, and so many more are of the most caring dog people out there. I recommend everyone I know to train with Above the Standard Dog Training. From pack walks, to Board and Train, there isn't much they can't do for you. Other trainers talk about Absolutes and Basics while they train the dog you have to become the dog you want. You can train with anyone or you can Train Above the Standard.
