We found out the monkey passed away which I’m sure is now in a better place than Monkey Shack.There isn’t anything better or different here than any other beachfront store in PCB. (Unless you’re looking for a t-shirt that reads “I heart Sl*ts”.)The claustrophobic store has a few caged parrots of various types with patches of missing feathers around their necks, which can be a sign the birds are stressed or depressed. The owners would do themselves and the birds a favor by handing them over to an animal rescue organization. I’d keep driving past the Monkey Shack and Monkey licks unless you’d like to rescue some birds.

My husband and I were very hesitant to come here because of these horrible reviews. But, curiosity took over and we made the drive. So glad we did! And I HAD to write my own review because maybe these other people went to another place & not here?? 🌻We met the nicest people ever!!!🌻No one followed us around like I keep reading here... Maybe you just look shady?? Most of their birds were in excellent condition! Birds like to pluck when they're stressed, yes. But who knows that particular birds story? Anyone even ask? Sometimes those feathers do not grow back no matter how long ago they plucked. They honestly didn't seemed stressed out at all to me. They were talking and whistling away when we were there! Every single cage was very very clean. Fresh food & water in all of them. Plus we got to talking about their poor monkey that passed. 😢 They really loved their baby like a child. It didn't live in the store. They took it home. Primates basically live on their owners hip, so you usually can't leave them alone very often.. They drove all the way to Tampa for the best veterinary care for their baby. It developed a life threatening tumor, as humans & pets can. They did everything they could to save their baby!! The poor thing passed during the (I'm sure very expensive) surgery trying to save her life!! So please do not judge this place based on some of these comments. Also, this is truly a REALLY COOL STORE!! They have so much random cool things & clothes! I only wish they had women's bathing suits that matched those really cool metallic men's shorts hanging on the back wall! Lol I looked everywhere, twice! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Either way, we definitely WILL be back here again! It was an absolute pleasure meeting you!

I went into this store because it was close to our room and Live monkey. I read the reviews after going back to my room. Somehow I keep ending up at this store about daily for a week. I must say the bird's cages were cleaned every day. They were always feeding them as well. Everyone was very sweet. The owners even offered to make my shirt because they didn't have my size. I actually even got 🍨. Plus a tattoo and some turtles along with a bunch of other stuff. This is a must go to store. They have awesome prices and rescue pets!They girls working were really sweet!!!

this place had a bunch of good beachwear and pcb souvenirs. the owners are very kind and you can tell they absolutely love their animals. i will never forget seeing and talking with the beautiful birds.

I would never shop at any of their stores...My 82 yr old mother lost her wallet in their store and the owners refused to help us by looking at video footage and didn't take our info if by chance it was found... I called the police to make a report because we are from out of town, we didn't care about the $900 cash we just wanted the id and her medical insurance cards! The owners proceeded to have us trespassed from their stores because I called the police for a report. That right there was an admission of guilt I hope they enjoy my mother's income tax money. Shame on them! God don't like ugly. karma will come for you 7 fold!!! 0 stars!!!

My young adult daughter left crying because the live animals were beautiful but not in good shape. It was sad. They do have plus sizes, nice looking souvenir shirts, and reasonable prices.

Would've given 0 stars if it was an option. The poor animals in that store are heartbreaking. The birds wouldn't even hold their heads up or make noises, and their cages were too small for their size. Their gimmick is a free turtle or hermit crab with purchase of cage, but they're kept in overcrowded too small of enclosures. I felt so horrible for the animals I had to leave.

Very sad to see the birds trapped in such small cages and environment in general. They are depressed and aggressive. They do say hello when you walk away but once you go back to talk, they stop and stare. It’s like they’re asking for help!! Also they don’t have a monkey anymore, it died last year. I wonder why…

I went there on spring break me and my friends were browsing trying to find things for our family and to take a Souvenir. We were browsing and just looking and the staff was extremely rude and disrespectful and started to curse at us worst experience and customer service I’ve ever had/seen in my time at pbc if you like being disrespected then fine but if not I do not recommend you go to this store if you are not sure on what to get.

⚠️ANIMAL ABUSE⚠️ ALL the birds there had excessive amounts of missing feather, which is a sing of stress and discomfort!!! The monkey is dead and is probably in a better place now, and the turtles were crammed in a small tank literally climbing ON TOP of each other to try to stay on the rock in the tank which was way too small for them. I felt so bad for all the animals there and got a bad feeling when I walked in. The place also smelled disgusting!!! Do NOT go to this places, or support what they are doing whatsoever!!!

This place is cool and different than every other surf shop/ novelty shop in Panama City Beach! Cool live animals! One of the birds was very chivalrous! You can get your ears pierced here or get other piercings and tattoos next door. If you're nostalgic about old PCB, go here! Great shirts and shorts and fun jewelry!

We just visited this place and we come from Tennessee. After stopping at Alvin’s and other bigger shops they both had similar things.We stopped at Monkey Shack it took me back to the 90’s and early 2000’s of what Beach Souvenir shops looked like back then. They had a different selection of other things we didn’t see at the bigger more commercial shops so don’t listen to these idiots that are leaving reviews about merchandise!The owner is very friendly and will have a conversation if you talk with him. They have birds their monkey had just passed away after a surgery it had.Overall this little hole in the wall is a neat place to checkout! It’s similar prices as other shops but they do have a bunch of cheap items and clearance racks worth checking out. Very vintage atmosphere

Deserve zero stars. Absolutely disgusted at the animal abuse being taken place at this shop. Please do not spend money here. The birds are under so much stress they are losing all their feather, and some of the parrots are very aggressive as a mechanism from abuse. I cannot believe that I saw a review from 5years ago about the abuse that the birds, turtles, and monkey are receiving. The turtles were all on top of each other in a small cage, and some were dead. I’m so upset that they still have their animals.

Went in and love the monkey and birds bud staff wasn't nice at all trying to swindle out of the deals advertised and not honor their price mark Down sticker's. Simple blow up beach ball had a green $3.99 on one side and an orange $2.99 on the other the guy at check out says that isn't supposed to be there and tries to take it off. We almost just said forget it all and walked without purchasing anything. Not because of price but purely the principal of honoring your word. Pay attention to what the rack says they will try to make you pay more than the advertised deal.

We went to see the Monkey, I remembered this place from past vacations and wanted to share the experience with my kiddo. They had talking birds as well. The only big complaint I have is at the end we were leaving and a gentleman in an electric wheelchair was attempting to go into the business. My husband held the door for him but the gentleman couldn't get his wheelchair up the makeshift ramp they had. Please look at making your store more accessible!!

The animal exploitation is sad. These birds need a better life. I’m not an expert but bald birds are plucking themselves out of stress. There were like 5 women working there who watched us like we were doing something wrong. They almost seemed paranoid. Couldn’t turn a corner to look at an item without one of them asking if I needed something. It was weird and annoying. Monkey wasnt there, needed a day off. Poor thing was probably sick or dead until they could bring another Monkey in that small cage. The african grey up front is gonna die from stress. They sell turtles illegally, cause they’re for “educational” purposes.

A fun place to shop. It has all your tee shirt, towel and surf needs. They add a little extra with a monkey and some birds. They have an ice shop with good parking and a friendly staff.

DO NOT COME HERE!!Staff watching over you like your thieves, older man at the register over charged and didn’t offer to give me my receipt , I had to ask for it bc my total was insane for LITERALLY 5 items🤦🏻‍♀️ & charged for a bag(which I thought was their store bags) until I saw I was charged $4 for it WHICH i was never asked if I’d like to purchase the bag.Go elsewhere and get better items for a decent price!

Wide variety of souvenirs. Got a shirt off the $12.99 rack. The woman charged me $24.99 and said it was in the wrong spot. It was not marked. Got hateful when I asked about it. So make sure you ask about prices before you make a decision.

Walk in and immediately there's a smelly birdcage to greet you. Staff wasn't very friendly. There were some fun, unique items in the store. Worth checking out for souvenirs and quirky gifts.
