This store was so fun to be in. Lots of different species of animals, reptiles, and insects. The staff was amazing, very welcoming, and educated us on so many interesting things! We loved stopping by and will do so more often! I loved how friendly the birds were and how well kept the place was. You could definitely tell the animals are cared for!

It's a fun store , birds ,ferrets ,baby birds,snakes , bearded dragons and a whole back room with beautiful fishtail displays. The people are knowledgeable and sweet. Anthony is the owner. He hand raises the baby birds . Let's not forget he has rabbits as well and all different kinds of food for what ever your pet needs XxoDP

I've always loved Mr. Petman, though today had me questioning things.I stopped in to get some toys for my ferret and took a look at the ferrets they had in stock. The two that were in the enclosure were so young had to be close to 4-6 weeks old, they didn't even had their back canines in yet. The cashier had mentioned they were 6-8 months old which I understand not everyone may know but that is close to impossible for how small they were.The more alarming part Is that the white ferret was nothing but skin and bones. This little guy was trying to express his bladder multiple times with no luck, was shaking, had hair loss on his tail, and looked like he was on the brink of death. The other ferret seemed to look healthy so it was a stark contrast. The white male ferret NEEDS medical attention ASAP. I visited the store on 10-1-2023 and I really hope that he gets vet attention soon because he may not have much time left judging by his condition. I am really disappointed that it seems to have slipped by the staff of Mr. Petman and I would hate to see this guy lose his life or be purchased and only have a few weeks with his new family.

We got our baby sulcata tortoise about 4 weeks ago. Their enclosure is so high up that we couldn’t see any of it. When I show my interest the staff(maybe the owner) just randomly grabbed one and the one in my hand seemed active and healthy (it even peed on my hand). He soon put it back and when we decided to take one home he randomly grabbed one and put it in a plastic container and got us cashed out. We didn’t buy the habitat he recommended so we didn’t get any warranty.The one we have now has bad appetite and not very active. He gets weaker and weaker over time and now his shells are getting dark and soft. We googled about it, most likely our tortoise is dehydrated and we don’t know what’s gonna happen. Maybe we got bad luck getting a sick tortoise but if the staff cares about their animals they should give us some advice about how difficult to raise baby tortoises. If they have told us their not easy to raise then we wouldn’t get it and have it so sick by now.

Took our parrot there to have wings and nails clipped. Very professional and did a great job. Basically no trauma to the parrot. Purchased many cage toys that were very reasonably priced compared to many pet stores. Look forward to going back when we pass through Orange Beach again.

BUYER BEWARE. I would not recommend this place. The conditions of the animals are horrible. The staff is HORRIBLE. EVERY TIME I go in, there are dead animals and the staff could seem to care less. I used to visit often & there was a gentleman (I think his name is Scott.) He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable; the reason I even kept coming back. I guess it gave me a false sense of trust in the place. Because if he's not there... the rest of the staff is insanely rude. Usually on their phones and can't be bothered. Act annoyed by everything. They are rarely doing anything for the animals or for customers when I've gone in. Which the most important thing is the Conditions of the animals is literally always a tragic gamble. Today, the baby cockatiels were so overcrowded, dirty and looked sickly. Half of them were missing their toes... for a baby that means other birds have bitten them off probably from being overcrowded or brought in from a mill environment. (photo) There was a dead Uromastyx - see photo, dead one under the hide- which was NOT a baby. I told the girl behind the counter and she could care less. Frilled dragons SHOULD NOT be kept this way. (photo) Every time I tell them about a dead animal, they act like 👍 👌. Sick. The bugs and putrid smell, you'd think they wouldn't be standing around doing nothing. And the animals are way overpriced for the conditions they are kept in. I know they're the only place around, and they have a large selection; prices on products are not terrible, but buyer beware. Specifically on their poor treatment of animals. Birds and parrots- don't expect ANY info like sex, health or even date of birth EVEN on the handfed (NOT HAND RAISED- HUGE DIFFERENCE) babies. I learned the hard way. BEWARE.

Highly recommend mister petman for all your needs. Great selection of reptiles and scorpions. Staff is very knowledgeable about all pets in the store. animals are also very social. Looks like they get a lot of interaction from staff members and customers. Great store. Highly recommend.

WARNING ANIMAL ABUSE!!!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE!I am not one to write reviews (in fact this is my very first one ever) but after visiting this pet store I felt the need to. I wish i could give this place zero stars. I am no animal expert nor do I claim to be but all you have to do is look around to see the blatant neglect and abuse of all their animals. As an animal lover and someone who has 8 animals (bearded dragons, a bird, dogs, cats and a turtle) I felt sick to my stomach just being in there for a couple of minutes.For starters, the turtles are beyond over crowded and half seem to be in pretty bad shape. I understand that you can put a few babies together but this was more than a few, they were stacked on top of each other in attempt to just be out of water. Turtles need to have enough space completely out of water (NOT ON TOP OF EACH OTHER) in order to dry their shells completely to avoid shell rot, which is deadly to them. In the picture you can clearly see this was not the case.Next was the bearded dragons. I personally love bearded dragons and even own two myself. The only time bearded dragons should EVER be put together is when they are young and even then it is a little ify. But, they had older dragons, four in a cage, on top of each other. Bearded dragons are dominant animals, they lay on top of each other to assert dominance and abuse each other. They will eat each other toes and tails, suffocate each other, etc. And you can see that very clearly in the picture. They are not meant to be together, a simple google search will warn you of all the dangers of keeping them together. Just take a look at the one on the bottom, the poor baby is clearly VERY sick and looks horrible.Next was the puppies. I have never seen such sickly puppies being sold in a pet store ever, and I have been to dozens of pet stores. The puppies were in small cage you would keep a ferret or guinea pig in, not 4 BABY PUPPIES in. This cage had no covering on and anyone, including children can just pick them up. It broke my heart knowing that these puppies were living in this condition.A few other quick notes, they had tortoises stacked on to each other in very small cages. Dozens of snakes in tanks with no hide and extremely dirty cages. Chameleons in the complete wrong cage set up with nothing to climb on. Two monkeys in a cage that was not suited for them. Birds in open cages smaller than what most animals had. Employees seem unbothered by these conditions and very unhelpful.I can not preface this enough, DO NOT BUY OR SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. They have not empathy or care for living creatures. This place only care about making money and nothing else. These are living things, that do not deserve to live in the conditions they are in. If you do happen to go, look around first, you will see how sickly these animals are. And based on previous reviews I am not the only one to notice this. There are other stores and breeders that actually care for their animals. Please do your research before buying anything from here. These animals deserve a better life.

I've been going here for years. It's a fun place to visit because you can kinda hold and interact with the animals unlike the "chain" stores.I'm really glad to see they are cleaning the whole place up. It was getting pretty nasty but with that many animals, I'm sure it's hard to care for them all adequately. I loved seeing the monkeys for so long but the last few years it started to bother me seeing them sitting there. 😥Thank God they finally sent them to a monkey sanctuary. They were "fun" but they were basically in prison for years, hope they are in a better place where they can get some fresh air and more interaction. They have a big selection of bird toys and a lot of other supplies for all kinds of animals.

Simple place, variety of all types of "pets" they do get busy at times...so just have patience if u find urself in line, they are moving as fast as the computer will let them. If u need help finding something, they have no problem telling you where to find it and also give recommendations without having to ask, which is an important thing for me.

UPDATE: Have stopped in here twice since my original post and the staff seems bothered and irritated when asked to see a specific animal. My daughter has taught herself a great deal about ball pythons and loved this place as they always had several. The last two times we were in town they had some excuse to why they could not get them out to show her or why she couldn't hold them. We have taken our business elsewhere. Pretty sad.Stopped in here while we were in town and they are like the pet stores were when I was a kid, they allow you to touch and hold the pet's, even the snakes! They were so good to my kids.

I wouldn’t come back here again. I was shopping around for my pet, they were upset that I was viewing my options on which store is cheaper and decided to disrespect me because I wanted to look around at PetSmart before I brought something from them. The lady with the reddish hair proceeded to be very rude and unprofessional with me and tell me not to come back and to do my own research since I’m not shopping directly from them and since I do isn’t buy my pet from them. I went home and called back to tell someone about my experience and she gotten on the phone and began arguing with me over the phone, hung up in my face and blocked me from calling the store. I found another way to call the store and I talked to the manager. He was also rude and also told me that I don’t need to shop there at their store since I’m getting info and won’t shop in their store and how they are in competition with PetSmart. The management is very rude and unprofessional and could have handled things with me differently specially when I wasn’t being rude even when the lady with the red hair was going off on me. My advise to anyone is to not go there at all because their not friendly unless your handing them money. I am truly upset I was talked to in the manner they spoke to me and will no longer be going to Mr.PetMan for anything else. They are truly rude people

I bought two sugar gliders in August 2022. They were 12 weeks oop. I spent $950 on the pair. I took them to the vet and had Walter neutered. I spent thousands on these two!! I had them on the BML diet. All seemed good until Walter suddenly acted weird and I rushed him to the vet. Had emergency surgery only to find out he was infested with cancer!! He died November 27th and now I just lost Luna to cancer!!! Bad breeding!! They sell sick animals. Don’t buy sugar gliders from them. I tried to talk to an associate about it and he walked away. Not cool !!! I will never come back to that store

This place disgusts me, they have a row of enclosures with hamsters, Guinea pigs and birds just sitting there completely exposed and terrified. There was a particularly large parrot that had its head under one of its wings which is a sign it’s extremely depressed, it also had started pulling at its own feathers which is an even more extreme sign of depression and stress in birds. Their birds all have their wings clipped which I understand isn’t a big deal for most people, but they took animals that can fly and permanently mutilated them so they can’t anymore. This is a greatform of unrecognized animal abuse because people don’t know any better. I had to stop my gf from attempting to steal some just to get them out of that awful place. These animals were cramped, terrified, and some were even injured. I personally hope this place gets shut down. People like this don’t care about these animals they’re just trying to turn a profit and parents are more likely to buy if their children get to pick the hamsters up without any supervision. If you want to adopt a small pet my recommendation is Pet Supermarket on beach side, their enclosures are much more ethical and their staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. However if you’re looking for any pet I always recommend rescuing. You can often find people on Facebook and Craigslist that are giving away pets they don’t want anymore often for free or dirt cheap with a cage and everything they need. The added benefit being you’re often saving a life, a lot of people take advantage of these rescues to get free snake food. But whatever you do don’t support this abuse, because the animal you buy from this place will be replaced with another that will go through the same hell.

I bought a dozen crickets from Mr. Pet man by the time I got home which is only 8 mins most of the crickets was dead only 5 was left alive. DON’T BUY ANYTHING OR PETS from Mr. Pet Man all their animals are sick and passing it around to different animals.

I absolutely love this store! I’m here a few times a week for various things and everyone is always beyond friendly! Michael and Scott are both great very knowledgeable On fish and fish care always a pleasure coming In and learning from them when I purchase fish! They have some of the best prices around hands down from feeder fish to crickets and feeder mice ! You can get literally almost anything you can think of pet care wise at this location! And from a family owned business can’t beat it!

I strongly discourage anyone from doing business with Mr petman, i wish I would’ve payed attention to all the negative reviews. I spent a lot of time in there today with his staff who were great and very knowledgeable. I was interested in getting a chameleon and ended up purchasing one as well as all the supplies that comes a long with it. I spent over $1100, which was fine, I was excited about My new pet. The owner agreed to let me keep the chameleon there overnight allowing me time to set up his habitat which I appreciated. I was really disappointed realizing the terrarium wouldn’t fit in my car so I had to go pick up a larger vehicle from my house 45 min away. While on my way back to the pet store I realized I was going to be arriving 9 min after they closed so I called to make them aware, I didn’t think would be a problem since I already paid for the item and considering how much I spent in his store. Would you believe the owner said no he wasn’t willing to wait 9 min?!?! After a few words his staff was agreeable to wait the 9 minutes. When I arrived, the owner and his staff were waiting outside with the tank and the chameleon in a box (after agreeing that I could keep it there over night while I set up his home). So since we were not expecting to take him home with us today, he came home with no food. I have to wonder if Mr Petman even cares about the animals he’s selling. Hopefully the animal doesn’t die before I am able to finish setting up his home. I must say, the level of unprofessionalism I experienced today is completely unacceptable. Despite the great customer service provided by the staff, the positive experience was overshadowed by the poor business practices demonstrated by the owner. The disrespectful treatment of customers in this manner is unacceptable, I wouldn’t spend another dollar in this store.

Horrible horrible horrible !!! This place makes me sick to my stomach, I’ve been keeping reptiles and amphibians for over 12 years now. I take in rescues all over Florida all the time and rehome them to good homes. This place keeps their animals in very poor environments with no water, most of their animals are sick and have underlying issues due to unethical breeding. They only care about money. These poor animals are suffering there. I’m in contact with inspectors currently and hopefully can find a way to help these animals out. Please stop buying from this place, I understand it’s a hard choice between feeling bad and helping them but at the same time it’s funding the place, sadly it’s a viscous cycle and people who don’t know about proper care don’t see a problem.

Absolutely astonished at the care of some of the reptiles in here. Walked in expecting a little different than what I saw. First thing I noticed was this bearded dragon—adult bearded dragon inside of a small enclosure meant for a leopard gecko or crested gecko and this is minimum size for one of those already small lizards. This bearded dragon is beyond stressed based on colors, can’t get adequate heat from their heat lamp and looks like the eyes are not doing well probably due to too much humidity naturally that builds in these types of enclosures. I saw other beardies in regular 40-gallon enclosures so why not this one?! Not to mention other reptiles in the barely bare minimum size enclosures. Do better as a keeper. This isn’t okay, take better care of your animals!!

Mr. Petman neglects their animals. They have two very large snakes that are marked not for sale which are kept in small enclosures. They have no greenery or water in their enclosure, just bare. If these snakes aren’t for sale, why keep them to just treat them with discern? Also, they keep monkeys in their store which are not for sale. They are kept in abysmal conditions, and it is disturbing to everyone who sees the poor monkeys. They are obviously in distress. Recently they covered up the monkey enclosure with paper to keep people from getting suspicious. I can also confirm they sell sick, and poorly bred rodents.
