Great, great place for a stop and bight to eat. The cracked sandwich is what I had, very good. Just come in, grab your own menus, pick out what you want to drink and have a seat...they will be by to get your order. Enjoy the many items displayed, take a walk around and soak IN the history, stories, and others adventures via post cards sent from all over.

We stopped for a late lunch after our airboat tour. Great little place, laid back, great staff. We sat on the deck and ordered the Swamp Combo that we shared - gator, catfish and frog legs, hush puppies and fries. Would have loved more than 2 hush puppies they were amazing! Catfish, fries and Gator were good. I wasn't a fan of the frog legs, my husband said they were decent. We like to eat what the locals eat. Frog legs and Gator were new for us. Key Lime Pie was really good!

Came to visit family from CT and they took us to Jonie’s. Debbie greeted us and instantly made us feel at home. We had the Grouper, a burger and gator bites..Food was amazing, and if you’re looking for an authentic and original Everglade experience, this is your place. In the middle of nowhere just the way it should be!! Oh, the homemade hush puppies ..a must!!!!

We visited with some friends that had been there before. We had a great time. Food was good, service was excellent & the atmosphere was a 10!! Shelby was a great waitress along with the company of Lisa the entertainment. We plan on visiting again to bring our grown children there because we know they will enjoy it as well.Parking: Plenty of parking according to the seating space.

Update: Joanie’s is always a great spot to stop for lunch! Debbie, the owner is so nice and friendly. Lisa is always a hoot! Get your drink from the cooler and find a spot and enjoy the ambience. The vegetables in the salad are all organic and come fresh from the local farmers market. The soft shell crab sandwich is my husband’s favorite. The grilled corn on the cob is also very good!We have been going to Joanie’s for years and is one of our favorite spots. It is “old Florida” and the ambience is worth the trip. The food is amazing. I always order the crab cake salad. The first time I ordered, I honestly wasn’t expecting much. However, it came on a bed of spring lettuce with fresh spinach and tons of veggies with some herbs from their organic garden. The crab cake is so good and light. Not greasy or fried. We order their blue crabs when they have them. Shrimp is always fresh and yummy. Overall, great place to visit when you’re in the Everglades or passing through!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free. Organic food.

This is a must stop when on Tamiami. For years we have gone here for lunch. The staff are spectacular every time. The atmosphere has you feeling like you're at an old stop in the old Everglades. We love it. For my friend, the softshell blue crab sandwich is what has to be ordered. I got the gator bites basket - omg, so good. A perfect lunch to end our day heading home from the Fakahatchee! FYI... go to the bathroom - adults only... lol! It's worth it... but just remember, the bathrooms are for adult eyes only- although, the male and female bathrooms aren't equal... lmao!

WOW what a gem!!! Super cozy place and extremely friendly staff and the food was unbelievably delicious. We ordered fried shrimp which was juicy and tasty, soft shell crab sandwich was the winner for me a must try in my opinion, gator nuggets were very good as well, fried cord was delicious as well. Overall a 9 out of 10 spot for me. If you are in the area you must save your appetite and stop by this fabulous hidden gem.

Fun stop. Great lunch. Salad is gourmet level and served in a bowl--large portion. Comes with house made mango salsa; complex flavor with oil and vinegar. Sweet and spicy. Flavor bomb! Get the Crab Cake, placed on the salad. Best crab cake you will ever have. Really. You will feel good and full after this lunch combo. Excellent.Entire menu looks good but avoiding deep fried. Hard to do!Manager Debbie's accent is native, south Florida. Naples. Thanks Debbie for your hospitality.The cook from Guatamala has been there 15+ years. Give her a wave and respect on your way out.Not gonna' find character like this on the Interstate.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! We went here between going to Everglades & Big Cypress parks. It looks like a hole in the wall place but it was DELICIOUS! My partner got the swamp combo and she crab soup, I had the crab cake sandwich and side salad. It was all very good. The side salad was huge and full of a variety of vegetables and a house dressing. Don’t leave with out a slice of the homemade key lime pie, you’ll be dreaming about it for the next few days!

Had other plans for “linner” but after a few hours on the trails, our tummies had other plans and we couldn’t wait to get back in to town. We are so glad we stopped though and will make Joanie’s our grub hub on future trips to the Everglades! Exceptional service! Best crab cake! Best shrimp basket! Best slaw, and last but not least, Joanie knows how a key lime pie should taste! It’s the best I have EVER had- period!

Not only for the perfect crab cake sandwich but for all the amazing staff and attention to personal and hilarious interactions. Lisa is a national treasure and will turn your worst day into your best. It’s beyond important to support such good people and perfect Florida hospitality. Stop here! Our favorite food place on our trip. Go even if google maps says it is closed. I had gator tacos which were yummy especially with their house dressing. My hubby had the best crab cake that he has ever eaten. He loves crab cake! I had to give it a 4 instead of a 5 because of their bathrooms. We had to close our eyes. The food is really good. Well worth the stop. Can get very busy and they ARE open on Wednesday. Go early so you can get in.

Just what we were looking for after our hike on Fire Prairie Trail! “Are you drinking or eating?” was how we were greeted. “Grab your own drink and have a seat.”It is a very chill, laid-back, crab shack environment. They had a nice selection of beers, seltzers, and sodas/waters.. We both ordered the crab cake sandwich, with fries, and cole slaw. The crab cake was fresh, meaty, and light, not dense. We also got hush puppies. They were hot and fresh. Some dipping sauce would have been nice, but it wasn’t really needed as they were flavorful enough. Everything, except the Cole slaw, was served in baskets, so if you’re looking for white table cloth service, this isn’t your place.We were disappointed they were closing and felt a little rushed to finish our beer. But we were also thankful we got there before they closed.We ate inside but there is also a screened in porch, and tables with umbrellas out front.

This place has so much hype online, and it's completely justified.Rustic family run restaurant with delicious food. The service was friendly, fast, and genuinely appreciative of your visit. By the end, you are the one who is greatful for the experience and great food.The gator bites were juicy, tender, but crunchy. Delicious. The crab cake was one of the best I've ever had. Get it. Beers were cold and the fish was fresh. Don't skip this place.

Fantastic! We stopped here on our way back from an air boat tour. Laid back place with FRESH and DELICIOUS food! I’d eat here all the time if I was near here. I had the blackened grouper tacos special. Highly recommend!My mom had the crab patty special- said it was very meaty! Not much breading at all!My husband had the burger. Delicious!!!!We will be back
