The owner is super welcoming and willing to help too! Very nice selection of freshwater fish, inverts, plants, driftwood and rock. They even carry Aquarium Co-Op products (see sponge filter in pic, super impressed with those).They’re also pretty engaged on social media for updates such as the odd early close for power outages/hurricanes and such.I’ll happily make the hour drive and look forward to inventing many more excuses to visit!

Something that needs to be pointed out. I live in the villages and my only local fish stores are the two big chain stores there staff although good intension usually gives more bad information than help full the tropical fish choices are slim pickings at best and the mortality rate runs about 50% Yeh they will give you a new fish but you already have a tank with a problem from the original fish. Yes, I quarantine my new fish but when something dies, I start that tank over and it takes time.Now here comes The Aquatic source yes, I have to drive a little ways to get there but after a few months of using them I can say I have bought several fish, crabs and snails without one single sick anything as a matter of fact they are all thriving including plants. I am thrilled to have a local independent store with good quality. Keep up the good work.

Found this store on the way home from north carolina and decided to stop! It was close to closing time so i felt a little bad but had some great chat with the man working (who i presume is the owner?) and ended up there a few minutes past close with 8 new ember tetras! It’s been a few weeks now and all of them are doing fantastic with no casualties! Quality fish and quality store!

Very impressive what Josh has done here. The product selection, aquarium co-op, extreme, fritz, is exactly what fishkeepers in the know are looking for. The prices are low. He's got some great wood. He's working with a local plant light company to bring in some banging lights. Most importantly, he is demonstrating best practices for fish keeping - quarantine, separate tanks not on a common system - that stuff takes work. I drove from Gainesville to see the quality of this place and will be back as often as I can.

The owners are awesome!! I go there every month to buy anything from plants, fish, turtles, drift wood, rocks, tanks, substrate, and much more. He has been dealing with fish for years and is very reliable. He has helped me figure out many issues in the past and is super knowledgeable. He is also the only fish keeper I know of, who Quarantines his fish and plants for 2 weeks before he sells them. Usually, everyone else just looks at them to see if there is anything wrong on the outside and then has people buy them. When that happens, it can affect your healthy fish. He cares that much to take the extra steps needed to make his customers happy! I highly recommend his store!

It is hard to find a place that you can find quality fish. It's also rare that you find a place that has someone that knows what they're selling. This place has both. High quality fish and the owner is a super nice guy that is willing to help out any way he can. Definitely my only store in town I'll go to!

I found this store as an Aquarium Co-Op vendor on their website, and I'm so glad I did! I was there for about three hours discussing fishkeeping with the owner and his wife. I bought my Easy Green, and about 50 different fish for my assorted tanks. It's been a week, and I have had zero problems. The fish are extremely healthy. I love that he quarantines all of his stock for two weeks before he sells them, and that he pretty much hand picks all of his stock. I live an hour away, but he will be my LFS from now on!

Extremely impressed with this shop. Recently moved to Ocala from Colorado and wanted to set up a new aquarium. In nearly 10 years of the hobby this is the first time I’ve brought fish and plants home with ZERO issues. It’s been two months and fish are still healthy and happy. Fantastic selection and overall just a good retail experience. 10/10 would recommend! Stay away from the chain stores and if you’re local do yourself a favor and shop here!

Store had fish that the name brand stores didn't have any the store was very clean and they had some very big fish as well. if you need anything for your fish or maintenance this is a good place to go and the prices are very reasonable.

Wonderful store. The owner is knowledgeable and helpful and the prices are more than fair. The fish look beautiful and the tanks are sparkling clean. There is a great variety of fish, gravel, food, plants, and aquarium accessories. He is helping us get our aquarium setup and is even getting the type of fish we requested. All and all a terrific place devoted to all things fish.

In all my years keeping fish, have to say this is the best aquarium store I have ever been to. Every tank is pristine and all the fish so happy and healthy. The love and care Josh gives to the animals in his care really shows. My first time here today and so happy I found this place. I don’t mind driving a bit to get here, it’s well worth it. I’m one who never writes reviews but I’m so impressed. He also has nice pond fish too.

This shop is awesome.Well worth the 1 hour ride from spring hill. Excellent setup. Purchased some plants (ludwigia) for my tank. They are growing like crazy.Owner is super knowledgeable. Will be going back soon to get tank mates for my angelfish. If your in the hobby or just starting go here.you won't be disappointed.

I came here with my daughter to check it out and it was the best pet/fish store we’ve ever been too! After going here I’m never going back to Petco and Petsmart. The owner is so nice and has so many different varieties of cool fish and aquatic creatures. Nothing is overpriced, and is very reasonable. He also knows his stuff! The store was very clean and tidy, and the tanks were spotless. I could also tell he actually cares about the fish because they all had clean, good sized tanks with plants and other things. This place is the best!

I purchased $50 worth of various fish and every single fish is still healthy and swimming around today. All fish in the store appear to be very healthy. Great selection of tropical fish, very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

I bought about a dozen or so fish. When I put them in my tank I noticed one fish was swimming funny.. When I called I was told that the fish was under stress and that would go away . The next day more fish were acting the same way, the next couple of days all the fish were dead.

Went to visit and see what they have. This is a great freshwater aquarium store that has been so greatly needed on this end of town. Wonderful selection of beautiful healthy fish and very reasonable prices. The Aquatic Source also stocks many needed supplies and a good variety of fishfoods. Also has a wonderful supply of driftwood, dragon stone and other beautiful rocks for tank decor. Even if you don't live nearby, definitely worth the trip to see this terrific new store.
