My Sun conure got his little leg caught on a towel and damaged it severely. I came to Paws and Claws Medical Center knowing the damage could be bad. They did a full check on him, from the most obvious damage to his overall health, weight, and behavior. They provided the meds, encouraged a new diet, taught me and helped me feed him the medicine and new food prep. Whatever the outcome, I know they did everything in their power to help my bird. We have a follow up in a few days. Am praying everything goes well, and am definitely keeping Dr Ramon as my bird´s primary doctor along with the amazing staff at this place. Thank you 😊

I am providing 4 stars Dr. because you and your team really did try to save Cotica Sr. And I appreciate that. What I did not appreciate is you jumping to conclusions regarding how I treated her. Both my girl and I are in therapy now due to the lost. This how we treated her. You said she smelled like smoke and I regret having my vice. The car I transported her that day in is the one I unfortunately smoke in. She was also always under my chin as you can see. I have to live with that but I also now have to live with you implying I abused my babies. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. I know your number 1 priority is the animal but your people skills can use improvement. I will use the prescription you prescribed and attempt to save Cotica Jr. I thank you for that alone. Nothing else. When she passed on Friday night a little bit of my Father and myself died as well. I only hope she is with my Father in a better place.

My husband and I have been looking for a Vet for our bunny of 3 years who is our everything and our little princess. After 2 vets who we didn’t feel comfortable with, we thank God for leading us here to Paws and Claws. The staff were absolutely amazing especially Ashley and Jessica and Deville. We were greeted by Ashley and she had such a sweet and happy spirit which immediately made us feel as home. Jessica was kind care compassionate and gave us so much information during our visit that we immediately knew this would be our new home vet for our baby Becky. Deville was very kind courteous and a great help while Jessica gave our bunny a check up. If you are looking for knowledgeable staff who have a passion for exotic animals this is hands down the place to come!! I know you will have the most amazing experience just like we did! We feel at ease knowing our bunny is finally in good hands xoxo

We have been to Banfield and other vets but this vet gets the gold medal. He is kind, supportive, and knows his skill way more than those hacks in the other so-called veterinary clinics. Don't go anywhere else and you will be a forever customer. You animals will thank you.

This place saved my bird! I knew something was wrong with him and called around to multiple places but they were one of the only ones who took us immediately. We got in there and they saw us right away and gave us a fast diagnosis with meds right away. I owe to them for my bird being alive and would highly recommend him for birds. He was knowledgeable and explained thing very calmly and nicely. It was a good experience.Olga is awesome and she makes you feel really welcome and comfortable. She’s a gem of a person.

Dr. De Armas and his staff are remarkable! My 14 year old Yorkie was in so much pain and I thought I was going to have to say goodbye to her 😢 I called the office early in the morning and they received her right away. Dr. De Armas knew immediately just by seeing her walk a few steps that she was having an arthritis crisis and he put her on a plan immediately. She was under his care for 2 days and is now back home thriving and pain free. She will have to continue with her medications for some time but his knowledge and quick care saved her, saving me the devastation of having to see her in pain. I highly recommend Dr. De Armas and will continue to take all of my pets to him as he sees all pets from A to Z! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone at Paws and Claws! They are top care and professionals!

Dr. de Armas and staff took excellent care of my Sulcata tortoise this past summer. She was severely dehydrated and was off feed. They placed a feeding tube which was kept in place for over a month, until she regained an appetite. Several months later she is still doing great and I am extremely appreciative of the high quality patient care as well as compassion I received from the staff. Highly recommend.

I never had issues with this vet as I have used him many times before and even recommended people to his place. I don’t usually take the time to write reviews but this place left me with such a bad impression that I had no choice.Unfortunately on my last visit my dog needed medical attention and once I was given the list to approve treatment it totaled to $1,165. Dearmas didn’t want to try other routes of diagnostics or treatments for my dog and was insisting on taking all the tests listed. He didn’t want to work with the budget I had preset and would rather let my dog die if it did come to that. They then charged me the visit cost when my dog wasn’t even examined fully. This vet clinic is overcharging and quite frankly moneyhungry.I found an exceptional vet that tested and treated my dog for a third of what Dearmas was trying to charge me.If you truly want the best for your pet go anywhere else where money isn’t a driving force on whether your pet gets the compassion and treatment they deserve .

Absolutely one of the best Bunny/ rabbit savvy vet in S. Florida. My sweet Oliver had a random abscess appear which grew quickly. Dr. De Armas gave me options and ultimately had to have surgery. It was a scary situation but I had faith in him and his staff and Oli has made a fully recovery. Bunnies are not cheap but he is still with us and that’s all that matters. In addition, I also have to thank the clinic for caring for our other pet Blue, Russian blue cat, who had odd raw rashes and with treatment has been back to his regular self. Highly recommend Paws and Claws for your pets but especially for your rabbits.

This place is a scam. I took my bird to go see him because he was sneezing They didn’t x-ray and what I’m understanding you cannot scan their nostrils so you cannot see inside their nostrils so that was a waste of money He was treated for some metal that he had a long time ago and he was focused on that not because of the sneezing that’s why I really took him for. third they actually thought my bird had some kind of disease I don’t know where they got that from but that was $436just to check out if you had a disease and and another 400 for x-rays came to my bill to $845 With paper sign, then I don’t know where the owners wife I think is here i’m not sure I’m assuming well, she charged me charge me 875. And she got up look for A receive couldn’t find no receive no papers so I left. so yesterday he had en appointment wit him original doctor asked for the paperwork guess what they did not send it thank God I took pictures of his medicine and showed it to him But really, don’t recommend this please.👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 look up for Dr. Harrison best doctor He tells you things how they are.👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

How do I explain…Pets are more than a simple possession, they are spirits, just like we are. Our little Henry provides more for us, than we could ever offer him in exchange for his captivity and presence in our lives. But we try with everything we have to provide him the happiest most comfortable life we can.So when we needed to find a vet for his surgeries, with Henry being a little dwarf Holland lop rabbit, we knew it wouldn’t be easy. But we had to do everything we could to find the absolute best care for him that we could afford. Many vets simply don’t possess the licensing and knowledge to take care of rabbits medically, and if they do, they lack what is necessary to instill a feeling of confidence, and sense of their humanity when it comes to handling pets and their owners. He was originally supposed to go to another vet for this surgery, but something inside me on that fateful morning just stopped me, right before we were scheduled to take him in. It just didn’t feel right. After a close call with making the wrong choice, I decided it was best to look again and I ended up researching “Best rabbit vet in Florida” Henry’s life weighed in the balance so we were willing to do whatever was necessary. We were so relieved to find Dr. Armas among the top in the state of Florida, and as a consolation for us, it didn’t mean an overnight trip.Did I feel bad for cancelling on the other vet?Well, in the grand scheme of things, to them, it is a business. But for Henry, it meant the difference between his life or death and I absolutely, unapologetically made the right choice!I will never take Henry anywhere else. The treatment we received from Dr. Armas and all of his staff was unparalleled from anything I have ever experienced. You can tell I’m a fussy pet owner, and I believe they cared every bit as much for Henry’s well-being and existence as we do.It’s three days since his surgery now, and while he is still recovering after such an uncertain and scary time for him, he is doing super well considering,We’ll never be able to repay Dr. Armas and his staff for their kindness, care, patience and handling of our little fluffy Henry, other than to share the fact that because of him and everyone at Paws and Claws, we can continue having Henry in our lives another day.

Good staff, clean place. However, the doctor was unresponsive at the need of time.Responding to your reply: Don't mislead the public with your statement. You need to take responsibility for your actions. I had to take my pet elsewhere. When you called my daughter the day after that I wrote the review your only concern that you had was the review. Therefore, I do not have anything else to say.

This review is long overdue! I first discovered Paws and Claws Medical Center several years ago, back when I was searching for a veterinarian who could perform a cryptorchidectomy on a pot-bellied pig. Since this is a complicated surgery, I had several questions for the doctor before I scheduled the procedure. Dr. de Armas answered all of my questions thoroughly, which really put me at ease. Even though I had about a thousand questions, he always remained patient and kind. The surgery went extremely well, as I knew it would. After that, I had Dr. de Armas spay/neuter the rest of my rescue pigs. I also made him my regular vet and began bringing all of my companion animals to see him. I 100% trust him with all of my babies. I know that he will never brush off any of my concerns. My fur babies are happy and healthy because of Dr. de Armas and his wonderful staff! ❤️

Took my red foot tortoise for the first time for a wellness physical exam, after having her for 12+ years and Paws and Claws made the visit a breeze. Appointments run on time, very friendly staff and so knowledgeable about exotic pets. The Vet tech Jessica (which funny enough is my tortoises name) was amazing!! She was so kind and patient answering all the questions I had about my tortoise and gave so much important information to be on the look out for. Thank you Jessica for the fantastic service you provided to my tortoise. 🐢❤️

Took my 2 turtles with a really bad eye infection, they hadn’t opened their eyes and had not been eating in 2 weeks. I called several places and thank God Stephanie the receptionist gave me an appointment immediately. 3 days after being treated by Dr. Ramon De Armas they started to eat and 5 days later they have started to open their eyes with the medications he put them one. Jessica the nurse that gives them their treatments has been amazing, the entire staff has demonstrated to care for my Babies 🐢🐢 Thank you All, from Donatella & Baby

Beyond fantastic customer service. I live very far and they were the only vet to accommodate me due to the fact I have 90 bearded dragons. They did everything in their power to work with me on price since I have so many animals and they even were in touch with me after hours. I couldn’t recommend a better vet especially for exotics.

Took our pet Cockatoo for a routine (baseline) checkup. An X-Ray revealed that she had a tiny piece of metal in her stomach, which could be the cause of the occasional diarrhea symptoms she was experiencing.Dr. DeArmas told us she was only half of "normal" body weight. (FIRST CLUE AS TO HOW DELICATE HER CONDITION WAS).They sent us home with a bag full of medicine. We were told she needed injections every 12 hours, as well as two daily vitamin syringes, for five days. Because it was impossible for us to administer these meds at home, we took her back to Paws and Claws the following day. We paid to have her admitted into the hospital, AND for them to administer her medications. This morning I received a call at precisely 8:58 AM that our beloved pet had died. Our Cockatoo Ruby was in their care for less than 72 hours.Hindsight is 20/20. I now know that we should have kept her at home. The stress of being in an unknown environment, with strangers, and being "forced fed" those medications was too much. They called this morning to tell me she had vomited (after receiving the meds), and then supposedly had a "cardiac issue".

I brought my rat in to see how much it would cost to have her tumors removed. They said it would be $1500, which is not the part I’m upset about because on average it can cost that much. However, when I asked how much it would be to euthanize her AND cremate her, they said that it would be $305 in total. After they euthanized her, I was getting ready to pay for the whole process and they said that the total would be $200 more to get her cremated. I didn’t have the money for a $500 charge, but I did have enough money for a $300 charge. They purposely withheld that information from me until AFTER they had already killed her. If I had known it was going to be $500 to euthanize and cremate her, I would have taken her to another vet. They took advantage of my grief and decided that the best way to get money from me was to withhold the full amount of information until I had no other options left. That is disgusting and I hope they are ashamed of themselves.I would like to put it out there that they did accept me even though I came in late to the appointment and for that I am grateful at least.

Our guinea pig suddenly developed a painful, golf ball-sized growth in his throat. Another vet told us guinea pigs require the attention of "exotic animal" vets and referred us to a location on US1, but we found Paws and Claws using Google Maps as a closer option. So glad we did. Dr. de Armas and his staff run an amazingly professional shop, are incredibly friendly/courteous, treat their patients with care and dignity at par with that of family members, and run a shop (front and back - I saw it all) that's so unbelievably clean and organized it can only be described as "sterile." Our cavie came out of surgery just fine and with a healthy appetite. I saw a couple of complaints about prices and can only say the following: (1) The shop, equipment, staff, supplies, medications, etc. all cost the business money and it also needs to make a fair profit; (2) If it was you or your child that was in need of medical attention, you would most likely want to receive treatment in this exact environment; (3) There was no pressure or upselling -- the doctor was very generous with his time and explanations, and also with exploring options with clients. For example, he strongly recommended a surgery to remove the abscess after identifying what it was, but after removing it agreed it sending it off to a lab for pathology testing would represent an unnecessary expense; (4) In my experience similar services at any Banfield cost at least as much if not more. If you legitimately care about your critters and understand them to be family, we can vouch for Paws and Claws and strongly recommend you pay them a visit/draw your own conclusions.
