We were there for 6 weeks and were treated like family. I cannot recommend place enough. Heide is amazing, the owners were welcoming, housekeeping helpful. The white sugary beaches beautiful, the water Absolutely phenomenal, and the sunsets were painted by angels. The rooms and suites are extremely comfortable, balconies spacious and private. They even have a little store and gift shop!Rooms: Well equipped, comfortable and clean.Nearby activities: Plenty to do- there's Port St. Joe, Cape San Blas and thevstate park, Panama city is not far away and an hour from Panama City Beach if the kids want to go to the amusements offered there.Safety: Cameras, staff aren't nosey but they are observant.Walkability: You can walk all over Mexico Beach. Its a small quaint town.Food & drinks: Mexico Beach is small, so google food bear you. You'll find choices there and in nearby Port St. Joe.Noteworthy details: The grounds are beautiful and the Inn is pet friendly.

My son and I stayed a few nights at The Driftwood Inn during a sailing trip through the gulf this week (@Heidi, Shawna, Tom and Peggy, we made it home safely)! The rooms were beautiful and very clean. We made use of the outdoor grills and had a wonderful time. It’s not like staying at a hotel, though—it’s more like visiting your aunt and uncle with a really big beach house! The owners and staff were so warm and friendly that we didn’t want to leave. The owners and staff gave us numerous restaurant and seafood market suggestions that we could sail to, and even drove us to a couple of places we could not reach by boat. One of the staff even helped us shove off on our last day.I cannot say enough nice things about the Driftwood Inn and all the people we met there. The beach was gorgeous and active but not crowded. Mexico Beach and the Driftwood Inn are a great destination for family vacations or a quick getaway. We will be back, thank you all!

Driftwood Inn is the place where dreams come true! This is a brand new hotel owned and operated by the Woods family. For 50 years, the Woods have raised their children, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren in Mexico Beach and at the Driftwood Inn.The original Driftwood Inn was a must-see, must stay beautiful Victorian style inn. The landscaping would take your mind back to romantic peacful memories with the lavish and exotic tropical flowers and plants everywhere. Water fountains, wind chimes, birdhouses, and wooden swings kept you in paradise. The front yard is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, facing the Gulf of Mexicos, breathtaking sunsets.Mother nature destroyed the old Inn on October 10, 2018. But she couldn't destroy the Woods family and their stewardship to the community of Mexico Beach, Florida. The brand new Driftwood Inn is beautiful! If you're looking for a wedding venue, reunion location, or event location, look no further than the Driftwood Inn. The Woods have helped create lifelong memories for 50 years, and the family tradition is alive and ready for another 50 years.Nearby activities: Mexico Beach is known as the Mayberry by the sea. If you know what Mayberry is, then you understand how friendly and loving Mexico Beach is. If you don't know what Mayberry is, ask someone older. 😀There are very few places left in this world, like Mexico Beach, Florida. You owe it to yourself and your family to spend some time here. Unwind, recharge, bond with others, pick up a few shells, catch some fish, and watch a few sunsets.

Beautiful new hotel, right on the water. I’ve been going to Mexico Beach my whole life, and it’s such a joy to see it coming back to life after the Hurricane. The staff was friendly and helpful. The price is very reasonable considering it’s a new facility and right on the water. I particularly appreciated the time and effort they put into the comfort items, from the playground in the back that my grandson enjoyed, to the swings on the back pavilion, and the ability to have chairs and an umbrella set up for us before we went down to the shore. 10/10- will most definitely be back again!Rooms: The barn door that shuts off the sliding door to the balcony is convenient to keep kids from sneaking out, but the windows do allow light. If you’re hoping to sleep in, bring a sleep mask!Nearby activities: Lots of food trucks nearby, and Port St. Joe is only a few minutes drive if you want a fancier place to eat.Safety: We felt completely safe and cozy while staying there.Noteworthy details: All rooms have a balcony that faces the Gulf. Lots of Martin houses out back, which I love- the eat the bugs! Plenty of shells, and while there we saw dolphins and even a manatee!

Very clean and extremely relaxing! The key fob for the room entry is up to date and secure. Rooms have fridge, microwave, glasses and cups. I loved the old Driftwood but the new still has character, beautiful artwork, right on the beach with the worlds best sunset. I love the bird sanctuary on the beach. This place has so much character.

A great place to stay! The Driftwood is an all beachfront hotel that has some great amenities. With a full size refrigerator, toaster and coffee maker you have everything you need to make sure you can drink your morning coffee while watching the waves. All of the rooms are west facing so you can sit on your balcony and watch the sunset. The staff is also amazing and helpful! Highly recommend.

This property has been under construction after being heavily damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 2018.The pictures of the property after being renovated are nice but the prices are steep especially for a single couple. The location is close to the beach but not directly on the beach. I feel like this is a place better suited to large families or perhaps a larger groupWho are splitting vacation costs.

This is a great place to stay! It has beach access and if you go to the front desk, they'll order chairs and an umbrella for you (you pay for it at checkout). Definitely a great thing if you have children! They are only open 8-6 so you have to plan ahead of you want to stay here. The rooms are beautiful and clean. They have more space than you'd average motel room. There's actually a small kitchen of sorts in them plus a regular size fridge (this is in the room we stayed in, I think they might have larger ones). There were plates, cups, toaster, microwave, and a few other kitchen utensils, can't remember them all. A small table and chairs... Go check out the Mexico Beach Market and get a few items to eat in your room or on the beach!

This is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed at! It is right on a beautiful, big and white beach. You would think that such a beautiful beach would get crouded but it is not! In the main season there are only five other people on the beach infront of the hotel usually!🏖🏖The rooms of the hotel are amazing!.... they are more like apartments. I came all the way from Germany to stay and I am already planning my next stay! Mexico Beach is such a nice place to relax! It's not touristy like many other beaches are these days. But still lots of things to do for younger people like me!

Wonderfully situated directly on the beach with boardwalk access across the sand dunes. Pure beach heaven!!! Love the vibe, decor, comfort, and more. Customer service exceptional plus a friendly bird Mango in the lobby. Fav listening to the tide roll in from private balcony or thru open barn style doors to room. Extra special touches all around to indulge your senses. Beautiful renovation after Hurricance Michael. I could live on this property.Nearby activities: Shhh, don't let the secret out ad this is truly the forgotten coast. Let's keep it our secret.Enjoyed a local holiday market at the park on Sat morning. Lots of creativity snd talented individuals. Plus fun conversation.Safety: Couldn't have felt more safe with secure and hi'tech access at all points of entry. Cameras and monitoring on property.Food & drinks: In house market. Free coffee in lobby. No breakfast served on site, but room had functional kitchen.

My husband along with myself and our 21 month old decided that we were just going to up and leave for Mexico beach last month. We had no idea where we were going to stay and we found the driftwood online, so I called and luckily they had a room coming open the morning we would be arriving. I explained to the owner that what we were doing and she said she should have that room probably cleaned by possibly noon. We got there @10 & they gave us the key to our room. Everyone there was really nice. The room was very nice and so convenient. I loved how we could go out either front door or back door which led to the beach. Only thing I would say could use improvement is a bigger shower :-) They had a place to wash off at after returning from beach, a little play set for kids, a nice swinging area and fire pit for the adults when the sun went down. All around great place!

Just left the inn this morning. Very relaxing atmosphere, the beach at its best. Sons wedding yesterday, and couldn't have asked for kinder people on staff. They were very helpful and attentive to our needs. The tea room was perfect for the reception. The gardens full of blooms, bird houses and butterflies. Rooms were very clean. We will stay here again #bestkeptsecret

Came down on a mini vacation and had an amazing stay. The hotel is beautiful with an old fashion beach theme. It's very nice to stay somewhere peaceful. The staff was super friendly. Reminds me of what life was like before highrise hotels and internet. Was able to relax and have a enjoyable time. Will definitely be back to stay with my family.

Stayed in one of the 2 bedroom Victorian Houses. The house was pretty nice but not very clean at all. There was dust all over the tables and counters, the windowsills, and the furniture. I know pullout couches aren't supposed to be comfortable but that was probably one of the worst beds I've ever slept on. Nice place but needs a bit of an update.

We absolutely loved it. Perfect size rooms with easy access to the beach. One drawback is the lack of a pool, but the old world feel of the place more than makes up for it. Proximity to food and shopping is great.

This is my most favorite place to stay when we visit Mexico Beach, FL! Peaceful, Beautiful, the best beach scenery and the owners of the Driftwood are awesome! I love the flowers, the birds and listening to the waves crashing into the shore. My only regret is I can't visit more often. ♡

Stayed there one night. Arrived late it was dark. Room was large and outfitted in a 1950's mode. Bathroom large in a 1940's mode. Spectacular view of exotic flowers and the ocean. Very laid back. Bed was comfortable and room clean. Shower was excellent. Don't go if you expect a Hampton Inn experience - go there to relax and laugh at the giant reb/blue macaw and huge Great Dane dog. Interesting and exotic place with beautiful flowers. 🌺Go to lose yourself in the ambience and walk the beach. Not your average place more reminiscent of a twilight zone serenity experience.Pete Gould SGM (R)
