My mother and I stopped here when we went over to Pine Island for a late lunch. I am so glad we decided to have lunch here. The food was amazing! We had their special that day of Seafood Shepherd's Pie and their freshly made Key Lime pie. The entree was enough for us to share between us. Both were delicious!!! If you have an opportunity to stop here for a meal do, you won't be disappointed

In my book, to get a 5 star rating, the food, service and atmosphere must all be top notch. Blue passes with flying colors.Michele was one of the best servers we have encountered in Florida. If I was opening a classy restaurant, I’d double her pay and hire her to direct customer service. The clam chowder was some of the best I’ve ever had. Perfect temperature, great flavor and not loaded with potatoes like most. The cup is the size of most bowls. We both took our server’s recommendation and had the triple tail (fish). Mine was fried with blackened seasoning added. My wife had it grilled with a lemon sauce with a side of rice/beans. I loved the B branded on my bun. Slaw and tartar sauce were both homemade. Fish sandwich was excellent. Very light and tasty fish. Even though we were full, we finished with the homemade key lime pie. Great crust and flavorful pie without being too tart. Don’t pass this place up and don’t pronounce the name of the town wrong. Matlacha. It’s like Matt LaShay.Parking: Small lot to the front left of entrance.

This doesn't happen often, five stars across the board. Courtney was our waitress, she did a great job explaining different menu options. We had everything from peel and eat shrimp, steak, mozzarella sticks, key lime pie, Caesar salad, 3 stripe and foofoo drinks. Everything was so delicious. The restaurant itself is clean and tidy. This is one of the few businesses in the Island that is running full steam ahead after Ian.I will definitely be back and will be asking for Courtney as our server.

We rode our bikes up at about 1:30pm on a Tuesday. It was very busy with several groups of people waiting. We were told it would be about 25 min but because we were just two people, we only waited about 6 min. Can’t beat that! Service was fast and very friendly. We had the smoked fish appetizer, which comes with homemade picked jalapeños. I had a Caesar salad and added on sesame seared ahi tuna - not sushi grade tuna but it was cooked to perfection. Hubby had the Megan salad with a side of one crab cake. Atmosphere here is fun and lively. You can sit inside, outside, or at the bar. Cute, popular place to eat on Matlacha!

We strolled into this place around 5 pm on a Saturday which was very busy and A small line outside the door. We gave them our name and phone number inside as they will call on your cell u when a table is available. We managed to find 4 empty seats at the bar and were handed a drink menu immediately. The bartender was very busy but friendly and helpful with the drink menu as we did ask a couple questions. She served us fast and my beer was very cold which I loved and very seldom get down here. Within 15 minutes they seated us and Phyllis our waitress took our drinks and food items we wanted. I ordered the seafood shepherd’s pie, and my wife ordered the Shrimp with a bowl of clam chowder as the appetizer. Our appetizers came out fast for a place that was that busy and boy was I surprised that our clam chowder was that good in fact it was the best clam chowder we had since moving down here. Our main courses came out in reasonable time and once again the seafood shepherd’s pie was hot, filled with seafood and very flavorful. To tell you the truth I was shocked at how good everything was. Phyllis brought us the warm brownie with ice cream which we ordered for dessert and let me tell you it was enough for two and very good. I can’t tell you the last time we went out to a restaurant, and they hit it out of the ballpark on all courses of the dinner menu, but this place sure did. We will be back and now are telling all our friends about this place. Hats off to our waitress Phyllis and all the questions we had about the menu being it was our first time there she was the best. We can’t wait to get back.

Fun place for Saturday lunch. Cracked Conch was bomb. Trigger fish blackened with black beans and rice and a mango salsa. Hog fish fried with black beans and rice. Wow! Great flavor. Blackened seasoning is one of the best I have had. Breading on Conch and hog fish was perfect. Who doesn't like Mangos? Great place with local beer. I will be back.

We just ate lunch here upon recommendation of friends who are local. The hostess was so nice and welcoming on the phone and in person. And-Wow! Such a varied menu involving mostly seafood/fish. Our waitress was Tania and she was so efficient and friendly. She took time to talk about our mutual love for dogs (we had ours with us). The seafood shepherd’s pie was delicious and my husband had the Megan salad with grilled chicken, also tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

GREAT food and good service. Back patio is really nice, but inside is a little loud for my tastes. I just wish they had a better wine list. If you are picky you might want to bring your own. We had the tuna nachos and scallop pasta. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection. Either of those dishes are so easy to overcook but these were chef's kiss!! Get there before 5:00 pm if you don't want to wait for a seat (but it's worth it if you do have to wait!).

Very delicious restaurant! My husband and I decided to try out the restaurant due to my husband driving by everyday for work. We enjoyed the TNT shrimp, and chicken tenders for an appetizer. Our 2 sons enjoyed baskets of fried shrimps with fries. My husband had a fried hogfish and I have scallops on a bed of buttered fettuccine. Everything was delicious and our server Tina was such a sweetheart. Definitely will be back!Parking: Parking is very limited! I would recommend being in a compact vehicle due to bigger vehicles having a hard time finding parking space.Kid-friendliness: High chairs for the littles ones and a kids menu is available

Let’s start with the staff. The check in hosts were friendly & fun! While they estimated a 30 min wait on a Fri night we were definitely seated in less than 20. Chloe our waitress was so nice, attentive and knowledgeable! Later we were told she was new…..what!?!? She handled things like a PRO!! Including a table of obnoxious diners nearby. Donna, who we thought must own the place, checked on us and the rest of their guests. She worked the trenches like the rest of the crew. Great team at Blue Dog!!Now for the food. We’re not sure what’s in their clam chowder but it was the bomb!! The cracked conch fritters were lightly fried served with their house sweet & sour sauce. The pic of the stone crabs speaks for itself. They were the reason we drove down from Punta Gorda to check them out. Everything we ate was 5⭐️ delicious!!Whether you’re local or visiting, near or far, the Blue Dog is a must stop for great food!

Great! The service was excellent, everyone was very nice and helpful ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The food was AMAZING 👏 👏 👏 we ordered the crab cakes, seafood shepherds pie, peel & eat shrimp, fried conch, the iconic patty melt and a key lime pie so we could taste a few different things. EVERY BITE was deliocious. The combination of hot, fresh, and well prepared meals, mixed with great staff and an island vibey atmosphere, made our 1st (and definitely not our last) trip to Blue Dog Bar & Grill an experience! Can't wait to go back!!

Update: The Blue Dog is still going strong! Enjoyed a family lunch here & they were as wonderful as always. Very happy to see them so thoroughly recovered from the storm.Excellent food, excellent views, faultless service. Could not recommend the Blue Dog more if you're in the area. The she-crab soup and smoked mullet dip appetizers and the Megan salad were absolutely to die for, and the hippie chick sandwich and cracked conch did not disappoint! While my husband and I were enjoying our lunch we were lucky enough to see a staff member feeding fish scraps to the local fish right beneath our table. All-around wonderful experience.

Ate here today for lunch. Food, service, pricing and atmosphere were great. We had burgers with fries and my daughter had the Mahi Tuna. All was excellent. For desert they had the Key Lime Pie. It was close to one of the best we’ve had in Florida and we’ve had a lot. They have some great mixed drinks and a nice selection of local and craft beers on tap. I highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area.

We drove by here while on vacation and decided to stop in for lunch since the reviews were good. I never write reviews, but I thought this place was definitely deserving of another good review. The food was delicious, and our server, Tina, was sweet and attentive. The Caprese salad was tasty and refreshing. My son and I got the TNT shrimp tacos, which were delicious! Although there were only 2 tacos per serving, they were super filling because the shrimp were large and the sides (I got garlic mashed potatoes and my son got sweet potato fries) were plentiful. My husband got the black bean wrap with a side of potato salad, both were really yummy! We topped off with a brownie sundae and took a whole key lime pie to go for the rest of our family. We’re so happy with this place that we can’t wait to return with our friends.I must also add, the restaurant was super clean and so were the restrooms!
