I recently ventured 8 miles west of my home to Barnhill Seafood Market in Matlacha where I purchased two 2 lb. fresh red snappers and a pound and half of large, freshly caught Gulf pink shrimp. I also bought a nice slab of halibut which is not pictured as it's marinating to be smoked on our pellet grill later today. My wife was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer and colitis, and although she is on a strict diet, she is allowed to eat some types of seafood. And Barnhill thankfully has those types of seafood. Although the market is small, there's a nice variety of seafood, and you know it's fresh because the store is situated a few hundred feet from the Gulf. One advantage of living so close to the Gulf is availability of fresh seafood today and every day.

While vacationing in Cape Coral Florida we were fortunate to find this gem of a business.The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable in helping us with our choices.We ended up buying shrimp, scallops, blue crab, 2 kinds of fish and some smoked fish as well.We took our haul back to our vacation home and had a seafood feast!It was enjoyed by everyone.The freshness certainly came through in the flavour and pricing was amazing!If we vacation in the area again we will definitely be back for some of the best seafood we’ve had!Keep doing what you are doing because you are doing it right!

Drove an hour and a half to get blue crabs. Best we’ve ever had. Smoked fish dip was awesome as well. Friendly staff and super clean market

Got some large male blue crabs today- they absolutely do NOT disappoint!!! This place is AWESOME!!!!Just ate them- big crabs, strong shells, lots of sweet meat, - was absolutely one of the best ‘crab fest’ yet- not one ‘sour’ crab in the mix. We are now crab drunk and going to take a nap. Lol

Had never been there but was really impressed! They had everything I needed for an amazing Maryland blue crab dinner with family. Can’t wait to go back.

We thoroughly enjoy walking to this establishment daily to get the precooked chilled stone crabs for lunch. We also picked up a different fish fillet daily for dinner while we were there. Their fish dip is outstanding and goes quickly. We were only lucky enough to get it the first day there. The proprietors were very knowledgeable and helped us make selections to meet our requirements.

Easy to fine in Matlache, they have fresh, fresh crabs and fish. Since Hurricane Ian this place is one of the few places locally to get quality fresh crabs. Their stone crabs are superb!

This place never disappoints! Super Fresh Seafood and a really cool shopping experience. This is the only place we go locally for fresh seafood and I love that they are expanding sales of other local made products. Some of the friendliest, most honest people you'll find in SW Florida. Good peeps.

Picked up some fresh smoked mullet today, awesome as always. Grew up in SWFL and come to visit my mom frequently. Excellent customer service and fresh seafood! Bought one of Karen’s Key Lime Pies for the first time and it was outstanding!! Lifetime customer!! Don’t forget a hat or t-shirt !

Jumbo stone crab claws - super fresh and delicious! We took them home and steamed for a few minutes, served with garlic butter. There was a lot more to choose from so we have plenty of reasons to return.

This place has been a family favorite for years! SOO happy they are back open already! The stone crab is always great and Karen's Key Lime Pie is the best you will ever taste!! Homemade and delicious! It is more custard style with an amazing crust and it isn't bitter like some others we have tried. It is a MUST stop location every time we visit from North Dakota! Amazing service from a great local family :)

I purchased 3 dozen of live blue crab and I love that their small really mean small and their large really mean large. They were super fresh as well as their oysters. Yum yum!! Also great prices I highly recommend. Thanks Barnhill Seafood Market

My first time was great: live whale soft shell crabs and jumbo crabs.The second time frozen miniature soft shell crabs but priced as $ 6 each.Today I learned no to accept frozen crabs. I bought clams and 10 of them were already opened. My fault for trusting the attendant.

The young lady behind the counter was outstanding! I called earlier to ask if she had stone crab claws and she said they did . I said I would be there in 20 minutes. When I got there and asked the price she said they were on hold for someone. ME! Service like this is hard to find. We have bought seafood at several other places in the Cape and Matlacha and we will definitely be coming back to Barnhill. Oh yeah the crab claws were great and priced right.

Best place for Live Blue Crabs around! And the oyster are wonderful! Got 2 dozen #1 crabs for my Dad for fathers day 2020. I called ahead and they had them saved for me! $40 a Doz for #1, which are all huge Jimmy's. $18 a Doz for #2, which are combo smaller Jimmy's, and females. I also got a party box of Oysters (from TX). Ate everyone on the 1/2 shell. Really really good. Get the Pine Island Oysters if they have them, as they are really salty and good. I highly recommend this place!

Ok y’all ... So I live in SWCape and have for almost 4 years now, I’m originally from Maryland so I love my blue steamed crabs and this place right here reminds me of home!!! This crabs are delicious! And I also was able to finally buy Real Jumbo Lump crab meat... I will now be their #1 costumer.. and the staff is so nice too.

Ordered crabs two weeks in advance for a special occasion. Called the day before and got assurance that crabs were coming in at 4pm. Went the next day to get them at noon and they didn’t have them...they didn’t care...and we were left with nothing.In a state where seafood markets are everywhere, your reputation is all you have, and this place has the WORST”.Save your time and go to another market. This place is not where us locals go!!

Awesome experience! Came here for Father’s Day and got some great Grouper, an AMAZING Key Lime Pie ($15 but so worth it!!!), smoked salmon dip, and the mullet dog treats(which my little pup went crazy for!). Super fresh and quaint little shop! Diamond in the rough!
