Went in to get a new Raymarine autopilot for my boat, asked for some assistance. The guy who showed up to help had a horrible attitude, offered no help. Told me to order it online, even though they are a Raymarine dealer. The employee was the true definition of useless. This employee cost the store a $4000.00 sale.

Tried to order a Lewmar hatch told Salesman this is a special order. I have a stock number and all he wanted to tell me was go to the west marine Internet and look I told him it’s a special order and I was here to place the order and proceed forward basically had to leave the store and went and ordered it from someone who knew what they were doing not someone who does not want to work. If you don’t like it there then maybe you should work at McDonald’s

I have spent many thousands of dollars at West Marine over the years.The Marathon store is hit and miss. Most of the folks who work there are helpful and many are friendly. The available inventory can be iffy. Some folks who work at the register (Nita) are amazingly helpful and friendly. But today a woman who claimed to be a manager needlessly gave me an insulting 3rd degree interrogation with ID request etc over a port supply purchase of a $6 dinghy part. You really think someone is going to try to save pennies by using a bogus loyalty card? (-3 points) Hmpff !!

It's a pretty well appointed store with reasonable selections and overall we always find the fishing supplies we need.Why I didn't assign a perfect 5 stars here are 2 minor issues.1. We're bought several fishing rods and reels and 2 of those reels needed line (the others already had line on them). While it didn't seem that the store was particularly busy, we still had to wait about 30 minutes to get someone to help. In fact the people from the store seemed to be around, right there where we needed help, but didn't really seem to be eager to help. I could be misreading something.2. When shopping for an appropriate line, I always look at 2 thing. The test weight (say 20 pound) and the thickness. Being European, diameter comes first, as that determines how the line behaves, how likely the fish will respond to the bait (the thicker the line, the more suspicious the fish), and once I know what line thickness I want (fishing for small fish, thinner line, whereas targeting larger fish, we generally use thicker line), then I check out the selections, look at color, price, and the test. For example, if I want 0.35 mm diameter line, monofilament or fluorocarbon, I then check the test (for example 15 lbs). If a line's test at that desired diameter is 12 lbs, whereas another (of the same desired diameter of 0.35 mm) is 16 lbs, then I obviously would buy the latter. These guys, on the other hand, has absolutely ZERO concept of the diameter. They can only conceptualize test. Say 15 lbs. But it's just incomprehensible to me how one just doesn't get it that a line with a test of 15 lbs could be as thin as 0.25 mm (for some of the most expensive European and Japanese brands) and as thick as 0.40 mm and how these people are completely oblivious to the diameter and if it makes any difference between lines with such vast difference in their diameter. When I tried to explain this, the guy just got upset and walked away, sent his colleague to do the spooling. Again, that's fine, we got everything we needed and caught a lot of fish, which is what ultimately matters.

Wasn't happy about my visit here. I am not a fisherman. My kids that have never wanted to fish in their lives all the sudden wanted to try fishing. Went here to look at rods and looking for advice. We asked for help and was told someone would be right with us. After waiting 15 minutes as asked someone for help and his response was "I'm the sail boat specialist. I could help if you need help with that". Thought that was a pretty rude statement from someone who was watching us for a while. A simple this isn't my area would have been nice. Finally the fishing guy came back and helped but that was at least a 20 minute wait.

We purchased some equipment that I had an issue with completely from my own ignorance. Stephen calmed me down (I admit, I was a bit frustrated / worked-up at first), patiently showed me the error of my ways and then went out of his way to provide some additional insights and guidance that made our time in the Keys that much better. We appreciated the service and will certainly be back for our water needs.

This is maybe the best West Marine in the United States. Not the largest one, the best one. The reason for this is simple and obvious. It is staffed by real cruisers with real blue water boating experience drawn from the cruising community here.

Wondered in for a part, and a very nice woman at the register asked if I wanted to upgrade to "gold". No thanks I replied. I see that as silver you get $10 back for spending 500. If you pay $25 now, you'll be gold and get the $25 off your next purchase over $100, she said. Sounds like a scam, I replied. Not at all, and you'll get the $25 back, she said. I should of taken my part and left but she was so nice, with small talk about boats. I said ok, paid my $25 extra and started my gold membership. 5 days later I'm back in there for a jabso replacement kit. I get to the checkout and it's $104. Hey, I say. How about that $25 off for being gold? That's mailed to your house, says a different but just as engaging woman. I don't have a house, I live on a sailboat. I can't help you with that. I say, I knew this was a scam. She says it's not a scam at all. I say, how do I get my $25. She says, I can't help you with that, followed by what kind of sailboat do you have? A broken one, I reply, that just got $25 more expensive. I go on to say, can you send the coupon to my email. I can't help you with that, she says and goes on to explain she works so her hubby can fix the boat. Is there anyone here that can help me get my $25, I ask. I can't help you with that, again she says. Is there a promo code, discount or recognition of my gold membership? Same reply. I knew this was a scam I say again. Not at all, she says. I ask is there anyway to get my $25? Same reply, 4th time. I leave and I rather have the boat sink then go back there and buy another part.

Pricey. Would not let me use the commercial accout of my mechanic ubless he was there ib person. Seems like that would be personal account. Oh well, costed me $12 extra but mechanic didnt have to stop working on boat to go get the parts.

Like most of Westmarine stores they are out of needed one off items but stock common items. Excellent bathing suites and clothes selections. Unfortunately they make us use Amazon for unique products they once carried.

Nita just saved the day!!! I woke this morning to realize that my battery charger was not working correctly. In a panic, I could not find my receipt. I called the store to see what I could do and Nita told me to bring the charger in and she would help me out.I was in the store no longer than 10 minutes and walked out with a brand new charger! Thankfully I had bought the extended warranty when I first purchased it! I of course bought the warranty again lol.Thanks so much Nita for making it so easy! I really appreciate the wonderful customer service. I will be a life long customer for sure!!!

Rude staff. Store packed with people and long check out line at 5:04 (store closed at 5:00)... all the staff were rushing people out and grouchy rude. The cashier said "I'm ready to be on the beach and drinking a beer, I want to get out of here".You would think they'd be appreciative of a full store and people spending money. Those shoppers are the reason they have a job and a paycheck... smh I'll stick to Bass Pro Shop or Amazon from now on.

Helpful and really nice staff. Stopped in to pickup a GPS part and brought my in-laws. One of the gentleman on the floor was super helpful when my father-in-law decided to browse their sunglasses. Spent time with him and gave some good insights on lenses and UV protection ratings.

Had an issue with a phone order where a product didn't arrive on time and was put in touch with an employee named Dean. He made phine calls non stop for 2r hours helping me figure out what happened and provided excellent customer service until we resolved the issue. Great employee great customer service.

West Maine is a good place if you absolutely have to have it today. There pricing is WAY out of line with the rest of the world. Fortunately they currently price match Amazon which too a roll of wire from $37 to $12. Oil priced matched was 2.5 gallons for $76 to 5 gallons for $63. Always see if they are price matching

This store in Marathon, FL went above and beyond! I saw a Columbia dress I wanted but they didn’t have my size. My boyfriend inquired if we could have one shipped from another store to our home in Virginia. Margaret found it in key west and islamorada and got their delivery truck to pick it up. I had it that afternoon and wore it that night! Awesome service!
