I love this place!! They have really helped our dog, Honey who has had extreme allergy issues and an autoimmune disease. Honey is so much more comfortable now. They really care about their patients at the Veterinary Dermatology Center.

Had a super experience at our first appointment today! Dr. Doerr was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Henry, our vet tech, was fantastic as well and did a great job handling my very nervous and somewhat spicy cat. They both took their time explaining everything to me and didn’t appear rushed despite it being a busy morning. Finally got some answers and a plan after dealing with these issues for almost a year. Highly recommend!

I've shared my review in the past. I've been a client here w/Lucy since 2015, when she was a year old. Dr Logas helped me take excellent care of Lucy until she retired in '22. Now, Dr Schwassman (sp? 😬) is seeing Lucy. She's very caring, allows Lucy to demand treats of any flavor she desires 😂, and ensures any questions are answered.I never feel rushed and trust Lucy is receiving the next care & recommendations. I'm so thankful for VDC, knowing I can trust their expertise and kindness. As usual, Lucy sends an abundance of kisses to everyone there!

The rudest vet clinic I’ve ever come into contact with. I can’t speak to the docs services, bc I’ve never made it past the secretary. She’s been there for years as I’ve called twice attempting to make appointments and she’s cut me off mid sentence, let me know it’s going to be at least 6 months to get in (not a big deal, but I got the vibe she was dissuading me bringing my dog at all, for allergy testing). I said when should I call back? Was rudely cut off with a “we’ll call YOU!” Guess what, she/they never did.I realize vet dermatology options are somewhat limited, but I work in a client facing role and have owned several businesses. I can’t imagine having someone like her as the first point of contact. She’s nasty, short and sounds like she doesn’t want to be there. I didn’t expect her to be my pal, but to be polite and professional.I’ll just drive to another city and find a clinic that doesn’t employ rude and unprofessional staff. This was a referral from my vet, and I stated my experience was terrible and asked for other referrals.

I have NEVER been “dumped” as a client until questioning a treatment that veterinarian Katherine Doerr administered on my dog. Our consultation started out well concerning Biscuit’s allergies and “treating the cause not the symptoms” (her words) with immunotherapy. We had spent the past five years battling his seasonal breakouts/hotspots/bacterial infections with antibiotics, Cytopoint (i.e. CADI) injections, APOQUEL, steroids, topical shampoos, etc. NONE of it was working anymore. We’ve been going to the same vet, Conway Veterinary Hospital (Dr. Robert Porter), for the past 6 years. I’ve also been a foster parent for the Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) shelter for many years. I donate plenty of time and money to animals, even animals that are not mine, so that’s not my issue here. It’s the principle. We came here because Cytopoint injections and antibiotics were no longer working, which I was very clear about, both in writing and verbally. So what’s the first thing veterinarian Katherine Doerr did when Biscuit had his first seasonal breakout? Cytopoint injection. Yep, the thing I told her stopped working years ago. It did absolutely nothing to help him, and instead of paying $80 at my regular vet, we were charged over $600 for a useless shot and more tests to determine which antibiotic would clear his skin. A test she had ALREADY RUN ONCE, sending us home with antibiotic that did nothing. We were charged again for the SAME test and given NO antibiotic. When I questioned her methods, rather than offering a remedy, I got a letter stating that she no longer wanted to work with us. So, if you want a vet that doesn’t listen to or respect her clients, veterinarian Katherine Doerr is for you. As for the Veterinary Dermatology Center in general, my only experience prior to this was when our dog Abe had what we thought might be a bad inner ear infection. When we tried going here, ALL of the vets were at some dumb conference for two weeks. We couldn’t wait that long, so we drove him to the one in Tampa. They were performing tests while he was under anesthesia, and he aspirated, so I’m sure you can guess how that ended. Shame on me for giving them a second chance I guess.

I’m writing a review after multiple incredible experiences with 2 pets.2023 Experience with the amazing Doctor DoorOur cat Pumpkin developed an ear infection shortly after we got him from a CFA show. We had tried several antibiotics, culture, and eventually the cat hospital said it was a cyst. For months, we could not figure out what caused mysterious ear infection at our regular vet. The vet at the cat hospital said her classmate was named Dr Door at veterinary dermatology in Maitland. When we came in, the vet tech and staff were all incredibly helpful. The doctor was patient, kind, and carefully described the various options and what was happening. The level of professionalism was great from front desk to vet tech and doctor. The operation went incredibly smoothly and Pumpkin is amazing post op. The staff kept me updated on his status during that day and were incredible. I was raving about the practice to my dentist who also brought his dog there a few years ago. He reported the same positive experience. I would gladly recommend this practice to everyone. They did an amazing job!One important note: I know there is a long wait to see a specialists here (just like specialists for people). But the wait and cost is worth the experience. These specialists had a lot of extra training to be board certified. In my experience, they do a better job with intricate surgeries.2015 Past ExperienceSeveral years ago, we brought our pomeranian to veterinary dermatology for full on skin allergy test. This doctor has since retired but was very sweet. We confirmed he had alopecia X which is very common for Pomeranians.

Addendum as of 08/10/2021I want to again thank Dr. Schwassman and Veterinary Dermatology Center for the care of Francesca. The medication Osurnia administered to her by another veterinarian had caused her to have an auto immune response and develop disease Pemphigus Foliaceus. She will have this for the rest of her life. If it wasn't for the care of VDC we don't know where we would be today. A huge thanks to Dr. Griffith at Lake Jessup Hospital for referring us to the dermatology center. The other veterinarian located in Chulouta dismissed our concerns in December and January.Fast forward to today it has been a process of her going into remission and then flaring with more excoriated areas. A call, email or office visit to switch, increase or discontinue certain medications and we are back in a state of remission. She still does not have hair on her ears. Her abdominal area is clearing and hair is growing back.It is apparent Dr. Schwassmann and associates have a passion for what they do and they truly care. Please if a veterinarian wants to administer Osurnia to your cat know it specifically states do not administer to cats on the label. My first post was in December and we are still hopeful because she is back to being playful. She is on two medications and will always be on at least one. We can't seem to get her to that point and it's been six months. This is a lifelong disease she did not deserve. She was perfectly healthy prior to the administration of Osurnia to her ears. No words can express how grateful we are for Dr. Schwassman and VDC. We highly recommend them. I have added some current photos. One of the current state of her ears showing hemorrhagic areas due to steroids. The grateful news is this clears up as long as her brother decides to leave her alone with his aggressive grooming... :-). She is doing so much better. We got this!! Thanks for reading and caring!!Addendum as of 02/17/2021Our Chessy continues to improve!! So many thanks to Dr. Schwassmann and the staff. I have posted another photo of her with her brother. She is continues on medication however is in the weaning process. We are so thankful for the continued recovery of our girl.We are beyond grateful to have been referred to here for an issue with our cat Francesca. The staff along with Dr. Schwassmann were professional, kind and caring. Our Chessy suffered with what we thought was a medication reaction administered to her ears by another office. We brought her to that office for something entirely different. She was healthy and only had an issue with a nail on her L back paw.Within 3 days she had loss of hair and weight. After 2 more visits with no results accept denying it was induced by medication she continued with loss of hair on her front paws and stomach with severe pruritus. A friend referred Lake Jessup Animal Hospital Dr. Griffith who immediately referred us to the Dermatology Center. She was seen on 01/15/2021 with a biopsy completed on 01/18/2021 by Dr. Schwassmann. We received a call with the results on Wednesday, 01/20/2021 with results confirming a reaction and treatment to go forward in returning our beautiful girl back to health. Every call and every visit is met with kindness and the utmost concern about your pet. Dr. Schwassmann came in on her day off to complete the biopsies. Francesca is already showing improvement. Thank you to everyone who listened to our concerns and provided an excellent plan of care. We cannot thank you enough...The first photo is prior to treatment by Osurnia Otic. We hope to post the improved photos of Francesca soon.

I love this practice! They treat my cat Mako like he is their own. When I send an email and ask a million questions, they always follow up with a phone call in a timely manner. Mako’s skin issues have drastically improved since coming here. They don’t try to get me to bring him in every time I have a question about a new rash. They will try to assist first without needing to stress him out with another visit. I truly appreciate all of the employees at this practice and I cannot thank them enough for their help.

The doctor was very thorough and kind. She treated our puppy well and all of the staff was very nice. However, be warned that if you bring in your animal, just to be seen is 200$. It would have been nice to have been informed prior to the appointment.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The visit is quite a bit more expensive than a normal vet visit but the vet has specialized knowledge I was unable to find anywhere else. My kitty Munchkin had been licking all of her fur off. We took her to two different vets before here who were unable to help. Finally, we took her here and her beautiful fur is growing back!

Dr Doerr, Judy and the rest of the staff have been WONDERFUL. Milo and I came in for his ongoing ear issues, and he had to have a deep ear cleaning. Came thru great and Dr D and others have called several times post-procedure to check on his progress. They were referred to us by Milo's (amazing & wonderful) regular doc. Pricey, but our Boy is so very worth it! They are kind, compassionate and gentle.

I’ve had nothing but great experiences with this place. 2 of my 3 dogs had insane itchiness / hair loss going on and the immunotherapy helped them both tremendously. I appreciate what they did for my pups and they were very friendly on top of that.

They took excellent care of my cat, she had a polyp in her right ear and they were able to schedule the removal within a few days of her consultation, she's fully recovered now and was barely phased by the procedure, the vet team called frequently to check on how she was doing and took excellent care of my baby in general, highly recommend seeing this vet!

My vet kept telling me my dog had allergies even though no the allergy treatment have worked so they referred me to this office for specialty treatment. Her hair was falling out in patches. The office staff was very nice the doctors were nice they gave my dog a bag with her name on it and a toy and special allergy shampoos. Unfortunately, like I kept suspecting because none of the treatments were working my dog did not have an allergy. She had very bad cancer and died 6 months later. We found out she had cancer a few weeks before she died after trying again at another vets to figure out what was wrong. So I really don’t recommend this office but they were nice.

The Dr. Is awesome, the staff on the phon but their prices keep going up. No longer can I get my dogs allergy messed can be borderline sarcastic. for injections. I was there 90 days ago and the price increased by 30 dollars or more. Yes my pet is worth it, bu I'll need to find a new dermatologist to go too.. very sad!

If you have the option, pick a different dermatologist for your fur baby. They told me that to see the vet was $200 and for the allergy test it would be $500. When I left after my first visit, after NOT even having the allergy test, I was given a $500 vet bill. On top of that, the price I received for the allergy test was wildly different from the $500 I was told from the start. It was now $1000 for the allergy test. After looking at the paperwork, it was $500 for the allergy test, sure, but another $500 for the whole procedure which is NOT optional so in my opinion, it’s not a $500 “allergy test” it’s $1000. The woman who I spoke to was extremely rude when I asked what I even paid for on the first $500 visit, because all Dr. Doerr did was sit on the floor and give my dog belly rubs. $500 for some belly rubs, how fun. Absolute joke!

Tried to book an appointment and they told me they are 16 weeks out. My cat desperately needs help and two vets I have paid thousands of dollars to recommended me to this place. I guess my cat isn’t important enough, they told me to look up a place in Gainesville and then hung up. Extremely disappointed with my experience with this vet

This clinic operates differently than others. You call when you arrive. They triage over the phone. Then they come out and get your dog. The doctor calls you and discusses your pet. After that a tech calls you to schedule a follow up while another tech brings out your dog. You give her your payment. It took about 30-45 minutes. The staff are always nice and easy to talk to. They seem to run a great operation. This was our 3rd time visiting this specialty doggie doctor.

Best Veterinary office I’ve ever been to. They genuinely care about their patients and are very thorough. Always sweet and know how to handle my nervous pup excellently. Dr. Schwassmann has been the saving grace we needed for years. We’ve seen 3 other vets prior to seeing Dr. Schwassmann and she has been the only one who could really effectively treat our pup. The visits can get a little pricey, but I at least know my dog is better by the end of every visit.
