I adopted a 9 month old American bull terror. 2 weeks and he is learned alot. Too much to type. When you go, if you go.... Look at every dog twice. Find the one that finds you.

The staff is wonderful! They made it a fabulous experience. We brought our cattle dog to meet her new fur sister and everything went great! Everyone was truly accommodating for the process and integration. I love that everything is taken care of for you - the spay, shots, flea treatment and they even chipped her with all our information in advance! Very kind and very informative. Great job, thank you all ♡

I love this organization! We have adopted our littlest family members there and they are very well taken care of by the staff and volunteers. I will always support them and will be back for the next addition to our family. 😻

This place is a joke ! Not enough staff to handle the animals that they house. The manager is too busy to help you and she is one sided. I filled an application to adopt on nov.1st it wasn't til I had called to inquire about it numerous times that she finally got back to me. She is way over her head with this job she cannot handle it. Maybe if she could she would find out the truth about things instead of making a decision on a one sided conversation. And it was approx 15 days after I had filled an application out that I even heard from her. They need a new person in there that will be fair and listen to both sides of the story before she makes a decision .her name is Rebecca so beware people she is unfair and only listens to one side of the story.

Meet Cranberry! This 6 year old beautiful furry girl chose me. The staff at Caloosa Humane society helped her find her forever home! They were so kind and patient in helping us to save a life for Thanksgiving!

I sent an inquiry in 2 weeks ago and got no response. I called three separate times and was told the “manager” was very busy and that my previous message was on her message board, but she hadn’t cleared her messages out. I never heard from her or anyone else, so I sent another email 2 days ago, still no response. I don’t understand how an organization that is supposed to help pets get adopted into a loving home, can be run so poorly. I feel horrible for the pets waiting to be adopted and nobody there is doing their job. Really disappointed.

We have rescued 2 German Shepherd dogs from here and they were great. Staff are friendly and they are associated with the local vet in Labelle. Both dogs turned out to be wonderful and a great part of our family. If you are looking for a pet try there first!

Went with my daughter to pick up her new fur baby. The staff was friendly and walked out to the specific animal we went to look at. There was a staff member who wasn’t as friendly and pretty rude, got lippy when one of us stepped 2 cages over from the dog that we had to specifically say we wanted to look at. Weird and unappreciated but the rest of the staff was nice and helpful with good information. Multiple people had come in looking at our pup but we were lucky enough to get there first. Unless you are looking for something pit related, if you see them on the website you better move fast.

I have been looking to expand my family. I first went onto their website to see what kind of dogs they had. ( they also have cats, kittens, guinea pigs, etc) . Drove out there. Very knowledgeable staff, respectful, kind and knowledgeable. Once I picked out the dogs I felt would do well with my family, they bought the dogs, one at a time, out to the yard. Its between 2 dogs. I'm filling out the adoption papers tonight and bringing my dogs back to meet their brother or sister. Dogs were clean, kennels clean and they seemed to truly care about who adopts their pets and how they'll fit into your family. Great place.

I began volunteering at the Caloosa Humane Society. The workers treated the animals well and kept the facility for the animals clean and were caring towards the animals. The only issue I have is how they treated me after I was bitten by a dog, Cypress. I believe she may have not liked my mask as I was the only one in the facility to wear one. I did not point any blame but believe this dog had previous issues and the cage should be better marked for an aggressive dog. I was bitten on my index finger and back of hand. I received 10 stitches an infection and needed a tetanus and lots of antibiotics. I needed to go to ER and while there, a patient came in coding from Covid. This experience was scary. After this happened NO one has ever reached out to me or checked on me. I was giving of my time. I loss the use of my hand for a few weeks, I had doctors appointments. I was willing to help out. I was trying to become involved in a community that I have moved to full-time. There was a Christmas party for employees, board members and volunteers but didn’t receive an invitation. Was I shunned for wearing a mask or getting bit by one of their dogs? I’m a human and it would be nice for people to care and treat others with kindness. Never heard from the Director. I sent and email to Steve , the board President and sadly never received a response. You may know how to deal with animals but you surely are lacking in people skills.I did nothing wrong but try to give these sheltered animals a little time and love.

Very helpful and very well ran. We visited their four "cat rooms " a saw many wonderful cats but one in particular took our eye so we started the adoption paperwork on Michael Scott today and will hopefully pick him up next Tuesday.

Great staff except the gentleman. He was very short and rude. Made visiting with the dogs uncomfortable. Thanks to the nice young lady who works at the clinic for stepping in to help us. We picked out our new family member and he is great. Thanks for helping the animals. We appreciate all you do!!

Our Experience was the best we could have. We brought a wild cat from our property to the shelter, since she was limping very badly .We were told, that her right rear leg had to be amputated. We named her Bella and adopted her. All the staff was so nice and patient with all of us. Bella had to stay at the shelter for several weeks until she was ready to go home with us.She is the most loving, funny , happy animal you will ever meet. She is an indoor cat now, but shelikes to be outside on a screened balcony where she can watch the birds, smell some real plantsand she still likes to climb and jump .Inspired by her, I wrote a childrens book about her. I am working on getting it published.I want Bella"s story to be known in many languages.Thank you again, to your wonderful staff and organisation, you saved Bella, since we would not have been able to afford a veterinarian at the time.Thank you so much for taking care of her.....thank you for your compassion...!I will get in touch with you, maybe my book can help in the raising of funds.Margarethe and Thomas

Went into this location looking to adopt a dog never heard back from them! Filled out an application Nothing!! Maybe this location is different than any other Human Society I've dealt with!! I've adopted dog's and cat's from the one in Broward County with fast and ease!! Sad!

I attempted to adopt a dog and went so far as to see several of them because I wanted a dog that would get along with my submissive dog at home. I was told I couldn’t bring my dog in for a meet n greet if the manager wasn’t there. Left my name and number. She never called back! And I tried to call and no one answers the phone. Poor excuse for a rescue!!!!

If you're looking for a no kill shelter to adopt dogs, cats, puppies, or kittens in Hendry County, you can't do much better than the Caloosa Humane Society.Three cat rooms, one kitten room, plenty of dog kennels, and one building full of helpful staff and volunteers with a clinic nearby. We've now adopted two young cats through them.If nothing else stop by to say hello, leave a little donation, and meet the office cat, "Sam"

They really take care of the animals here compared to other places we went to. They had a ton of volunteers working there and the cat litter boxes weren't nasty and their food and water didn't look gross and the cats looked very healthy. I can't say that about the other place we checked out.

My mom went in to adopt a cat but was treated horribly when they insisted that she already has a cat and needs to provide paperwork for that "existing" cat (that she doesn't have). After explaining multiple times that she doesn't have a cat, the lady AND the manager BOTH insisted that she already has a cat and needs to provide paperwork. Clearly, they don't understand what "No, I don't have a cat" means.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with a cat adoption because of unnecessary rudeness from the staff. I hope the culture can improve to incorporate more empathy for the people who adopt their precious pets.
