We bought our first puppy ever from this location. On 11/26/23, I had went to this store with my significant other in the look for a puppy, when we arrived we fell in love with a baby boxer. He was the most cutest thing! We ended up signing all the paper work and signing there “puppy warranty “ we were told that we needed to take the puppy 5 days from the day we received him to see a vet. Our puppy was so happy when we brought him home. Towards the end of December we had our puppy for 1 month already, he started walking weird and seemed really tired. We took him to the vet and they took an x-ray of his body and found that in one of his back legs had a minor soreness near his muscle, we were prescribed medication and sent home. A few days later the swelling started growing really big, we ended up taking him back to the vet. Again they took a x-ray and found that it the muscle swelling had gotten bigger, we were prescribed more medication and sent home. A few days later the swelling was around his whole back leg, causing him not to walk on that leg anymore. The swelling was so bad that we rushed him to the Emergency veterinary. The doctors noticed that he was really hurt and went ahead and did some testing. They found a huge type of infection that caused him to have a very big ball of puss and dead tissue in his leg. The whole time we had our puppy he was never around another dog , we never took him on walks and took him to a park. He was a full time stay at home puppy. The infection could’ve been in him since he was born, the doctor didn’t know the cause. The doctor decided to poke two little holes with a needle and said there could be a chance that the puss could rupture at home. She prescribed more medicine and sent me home with my puppy. Two days later the puss had ruptured , we took him quickly to the emergency vet and we had to leave him for the day. That afternoon we received the worst news, the doctor stated that the infection was really bad and that she needed do surgery in order to open up the wound and double check everything, we agreed to proceed with the process. After the surgery our puppy was doing a little bit better. He had to stay for another night so the doctor could monitor him. My significant other had started a claim since the beginning of this process so we could receive some type of help. On the third day of our puppy being at the emergency vet, the doctor stated that he no longer wanted to use his other leg and that there was a very high chance that the infection was spreading immediately.Unfortunately my significant other and I had to decide on putting our 4 month puppy down. As first time pet owners it was the hardest decision we could ever make. We have contacted the claims and warranty and sent over all of our paperwork and proof of our puppies infection and harm that it was causing him. We were denied reimbursement and help for what we went through because it was not in the warranty. My significant other and I had wasted almost 7 thousand dollars just with all the vet and emergency room bills. Our family is now stuck paying this store monthly for our puppy bill when our puppy is no longer with us. This store was no help and no support. Please be aware where you buy your pets !

My spouse had recently purchased our first dog (11/25/23). Staff was nice, Answered questions, and my spouse stated that he even got a small discount on the puppy for Black Friday and being a veteran in the military. Puppy was adorable, However, upon first meeting (11/20/23) at the store noticed puppy had kept sneezing, goopy eyes, scabbed over cut on head and had runny nose , but I was told puppy was healthy by staff, I wish I knew better then to assume I was being told correctly and listen to my instincts. Was told we would be provided a 30 day free AKC insurance for the dog which we weren’t. Price was a large markup from other breeders that have registered puppies. Said puppy was AKC registered, it is not, it was ACA registered and we still haven’t been provided Any documentation. Puppy was sick from day one of bringing home. Took to their required vet within five days of purchase (11/27/23), had to go back (12/07/23) because puppy was still sick after first doses of medication and needed to do a second course, they also precautionary did bloodwork (thankfully came back good) and an x-ray (showed congestion) On the second visit. He was diagnosed with severe ear infection, and kennel cough (11/27/23) and still had those diagnosed but now with congestion/upper respiratory infection (12/07/23). Called (12/08/23) their warranty claims department, the vet even emailed their warranty claims department asking if it was a covered issue since it was within 14 days of purchase. Never heard anything back. Our puppy still has a serious cough. Vet tech (11/27/23) basically said that there are so many puppies there that It’s hard to properly check them all out in the amount of time provided to them, and it’s very common lately that the puppies have been coming back sick to the veterinary clinic, that the food that they’re “providing” To them and trying to get you to purchase is low quality and all they do is add a bunch of toppers to it to make the dog eat it, they also told me at Petland that my dog had all vaccines, was confirmed was not true by vet, and there was still Vaccines Required. Very disappointed in the company for allowing their dogs to go home with a “health certificate“ when they are sick and not well taken care of, these are companions, new family members, a large investment, and you can’t even care for them when they’re in your facility? This is despicable and disgusting of a company, that claims to reputable, for the cost that each of these puppies are up charged, you should be putting it back into them and the surrounding animals in the community and in your facility. Severely disappointed.*Edited to add details and Provide clarity*

If you’re considering buying a puppy from Petland, Google “Petland puppies” or “Petland puppies Jacksonville” to learn about the inhumane and immoral atrocities committed by these people. The staff were very courteous and attentive, however we were bribed with free toys and food and vitamins to provide a 5-star review and mention associates by name, so you can safely assume most of their positive reviews are bought. The puppy we adopted yesterday (March 21) had blood in her stool and intestinal parasites- which spread in kennels and puppy mills. Upon revisiting the store, we were referred to the “claims and warranties” department, which was unreachable by phone and email. Had we gone to a breeder directly, we would have saved time, hassle, and money.Buyer beware- it’s likely that any puppies adopted from this Petland location have parasites and potentially other diseases such as respiratory infections (see other negative reviews, there’s a theme).Edit: prior to the “owner” responding, we returned to the store, spoke with the manager, were referred to the district manager, and finally attempted to contact the district manager by phone and by email. No response. We resorted to obtaining legal advice and are using Florida’s Pet Lemon Law (828.29 of the Florida Statutes) to obtain a refund whether Petland cooperates or not. How about YOU call ME? I was at this location yesterday and today- you weren’t.

Absolutely great! Melissa and Ella were the best! They were super friendly and everything was well kept. They made the process of adopting a puppy very easy! I definitely recommend coming here!

If I could negatively review this place I would. I went in to see about adopting a puppy. They told me I was applying for the puppy but they were actually applying me for a credit card. I didn't get the puppy because they quoted me an outrageous $6,000. But it was too late, they had my information. I just got the credit card in the mail and I'm livid.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and google petland sick puppies before ever stepping foot in this store again.I went into Petland to look at puppies without much knowledge on how they operate as a business. Although uneasy about things I had heard about all pet stores, The associate had a huge sales pitch that discussed their upstanding practices, difference from Petland “corporate”, and other things. I fell in love with a puppy, and because of the info we were told by the salesperson, I was lead to believe this was a company that cared about their pups and was dedicated to selling happy and healthy puppies. They charged about 2x more than a reputable breeder but had reason after reason for why they were so worthy of doing that. I was paying a premium price because I was promised and guaranteed a risk free, healthy puppy. This was extremely important to me considering I had other pets already at home.Needless to say, I got the puppy home and by the next morning she had blood in her stool. Within 12 hours of purchase she was at the vet and I had spent 200 dollars to find out she had Giardia. A contagious parasite that could easily be spread to my other animals. She would need a dewormer as well as 10 days of antibiotics, given twice a day. In addition, while being at Petland my boyfriend and I saw all the dogs there has very loose stools like what my puppy has, so that mixed with the fact that they are all in close quarters and share water, mean they most likely all have this contagious parasite, which Petland vets do not check for despite giving a “clean bill of health.”Once finding out she was sick, I researched Petland and was absolutely devastated by the outrageous and disgusting things this business will do to make a profit. I URGE ANYONE who is even willing to purchase pet supplies from this store to read up on Petland, how they get their puppies and what you would be supporting. I literally could not find one success story of a puppy coming from Petland, but the horrors I read will have me feeling guilty and sick for the rest of my life. I can’t believe I participated by purchasing a puppy from here.Although we loved the puppy, we tried getting our money back and were refused. We were told to contact claims and got no response from them or the manager we were told to contact. This is not the end of the road for us, but I sincerely urge you all to RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION because we are not a special case. We are part of the majority when it comes to Petland stories. We are now on day two, and the pup has developed a cough, is having difficulty breathing, and has begun throwing up. It’s incredibly sad that these puppies are having to live this way so that greedy people can make money. It’s also incredibly frustrating to have paid so much money to a truly evil business only to have to watch a sweet puppy suffer and to put my other animals at risk.Read the other reviews, read about the lady who paid 10k in vet bills in 2017 because of the SAME issues from Petland Jacksonville, and read about how Petland and the AKC have a special agreement that makes Petland’s pups get some special registration access. And that is truly just the tip of the iceberg.

My dog recently passed away after 4 years of battling seizures. They got worse and worse as time went by until it killed him. Im not gonna blame this place because only god knows what killed my puppy but there is alot of people here commenting about the same stuff and sick puppies. I will never recommend this place to anyone because from the looks of it you guys are not doing your litter mill research. All your doing is making people go through the same pain that im dealing with. My dog should have lived for atleast 10 years or even more being a husky. I know nothing is gonna change but ill add another 1 star review. Also check out puppies galore on blanding boulevard cheaper and better.

We bought a puppy and it was having diarrhea from day one. Got him into there vet which is another horror story. They did pay for the test and the panacur but said the dog could’ve got sick somewhere else. Not true you sold it with this issue! The vet we went to is petlands vet and they’re a joke also. Second day of trying to get the puppies meds.

I feel like this was very predatory. I came in just wanting to see the puppies. No intention on buying anything. I am a disabled veteran who was just wanting to see if this could be a possibly for me as an emotional support dog. I wasn’t interested in playing with them because I know how I get. I asked the young lady three times how much two dogs I was looking at.She got me in the room with the dog and of course now I’m attached. Then wanted to run my credit and then after that told me the price. I have blocks on my credit so I would have to approve it but anyways, I shouldn’t feel like that about buying a puppy. And then to lie about how much it was versus what I was approved for is also asinine. Also, to have inflated prices on a puppy and go down the street where it was 75% less is outrageous. To just do that simply because of the area is insane.I have warned others who I knew were interested in purchasing one for their mental health. I hope that this doesn’t receive a copy and paste blanketed response like the other reviews have.

theres a reason this place has so many bad reviews. how can everyone on here who says their puppy was sick be lying? disgusting comments and replies from the owner not taking any accountability. this place is extremely expensive for sick puppies and the employees are poorly trained teenagers with an attitude. dont waste your time and money here.

We purchased our wonderful daughter (Alaskan malamute) from petland jax exactly 4 years ago and she has been our biggest blessing. Could not be more in love with her. Working with petland jax was great! They accommodated our wishes and went above and beyond. Only thing that was a negative from our personal experience was that the provided breeder information and documents of our girls breeder are interesting, the man listed is no where to be found online. Aside from that, our dog is so perfect for our family and we give petland all of the credit for our girl, Denver! Pics are from the day we purchased and her thriving, living her best life T

I think it's a great place to go to visit puppies, especially for kids. But they have a sales process that would make a 1960's Used Car Lot Owner proud! (note, I had to drag the price out of them, I must have asked 4 or 5x before I finally got an answer.) At the end of the day they're in the Business of selling puppies at Retail Prices. They buy from a wholesaler/breeder, have expenses to maintain the puppies care, employees to pay, building rent, electric ins etc etc. Then they have to make a markup They're staff are very nice, and they are well trained on how to enhance the value of the product they are selling....Puppies. You have a right to choose to, or not to choose to pay their prices. I actually started laughing when I was quoted $5900 for this frisky little guy, who BTW, is still there 3 weeks later!

Had traveled to Jacksonville to take my sister to Mayo clinic. My daughter got bored and we ran across Petland. The staff was nice enough to allow her to pick and play with several puppies which made her happy. Awesome staff.

I purchased a puppy from Petland Jacksonville two weeks ago. My puppy vomited the first night upon getting out of the car. We assumed she was car sick. She since has been back and forth to vet today make the fifth time for vomiting, upper respiratory ( nose and eye discharge) infection, and possible parasites. I've spent over $ 1000 in vet bills. I submitted a claim but no response. You only get a fourteen day warranty. What happens if the illness carries over the 14 days? Extremely disappointed.

Bought my English Bulldog puppy from here about 3 weeks ago and she was happy and healthy. No issues with her health or behaviors at all. Their puppies seem to be well taken care of.

Update: robo response that cared. Lol manager won't answer the phone. Restrooms are required by the ADA given the size of your business and the operating hours. Contacting corporate. You need restrooms. You lost a sale on an Australian shepherd today because you don't have restrooms. I'm sure that the ADA would have something to say about that. Probably have something to say about not having automatic front doors for the handicapped as well.

Damn…. can’t even walk in without feeling like a used car salesman walking up to you. Walked right in asked 3 times if I needed anything, then walked up to 1st cage and was asked if I wanted to look at the dog then asked again after I turned around, moved to 2nd dog asked if I wanted to look at them, moved the 3rd asked if I wanted to look at them. Took a breath of air and was asked if I wanted to look at the same dog. If I wanted buy sure don’t want to now!

Went to this store to check out an adorable maltipoo that I wasn't ready to buy yet due to an upcoming trip but the handsome pup a day or two later was purchased and I wasn't surprised because he was perfect. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They answered all of my questions and seemed very engaged. Petland Jacksonville will be my first place to buy a puppy in the next few months.

The puppies were all very cute. Their pens seemed to small, it seemed like they were in small fish tanks, and the prices were way to high!!!!!!

Do yourself a massive favor and avoid this place. My wife and I drove 2 hours out of town to come look at buying a dog. Upon walking in we asked to look at one dog in particular that my wife had her eye on. The sales person said the dog was on hold. Once we got to the dog we saw no hold sign. I walked over and explained that we are interested in the dog and would like to see her. The sales person said ok let me go get someone for you. We then stood in front of this dog for 20 min and were ignored while they helped others. I got the sales person's attention again and explained that we wanted to see one dog. He asked if we had planned on buying the dog today as that would be the only way we can see it. How would I want to know if I want to spend almost 6 thousand dollars on an animal if I can't interact with it. At this point I was irate. I asked for the manager who I explained this to he told me the dog has been out many times today and they wanted to give him a break and only serious inquiries would be entertained. At this point I was so frustrated that I left, and will not be returning. If you want me to spend that kind of money on a dog I expect to be able to see the animal and how we interact with them. I don't expect to be ignored and belittled as if my money and time are not good enough for them. I will not be returning and I suggest you do the same.

puppies are adorable but the staff are so rude and unfriendly… you’re selling puppies.. and you won’t let the customers who want to adopt a puppy meet the puppies? the blonde lady who sits up front needs to be nicer to customers. wouldn’t go back. wouldn’t recommend

I came in and a group of teen-aged boys were standing at the counter. One promptly came over to help me and I explained I was there to buy some wet food for my dogs. I explained to one of the workers it was my old lady's last night before we had to put her down for her health. He was great. I heard the puppies yelping so I walked to look at them for a moment. I took out my phone to snap a picture and one boy yelled out "Pictures are $5."I felt awkward and put my phone away. i then walked up to the register and this same boy told me his credit card machine was down and he could only take cash. It was near closing time and I have worked retail so I knew that meant he ran his report early and wouldn't help me. I was so upset because I knew he was lying to my face and I just wanted to get my sweet girl one last treat. If the machine was down, why wasn't that addressed when I walked in? Or while you chirped me from across the store? Incredibly rude, you don't know what people are going through and you should be kinder to pet owners if you want to work in a pet store. For any customers looking to go here: Go to target next door for your pet needs if you want kind customer service.
