SAFE is an AMAZING organization that does SO MUCH to rescue and save animals. I see some negative reviews about the phone number. It is best to just GO AND VISIT any of the locations!! They are understaffed and can't always answer phones. We adopted our Savanna from the Palatka location, but have visited this Hollister location. Again, amazing folks doing everything they can for the animals!!

I volunteer here weekly walking rescued dogs on trails through the woods to exercise & help socialize them with hugs, treats & attention. This is now the SAFE (Saving Animals From Euthanasia) animal rescue center in Hollister, not the Humane Society. It holds mostly the larger dogs. There are also many more dogs & cats needing adoption at the Moody Road location in Palatka. This is a nonprofit that exists on contributions with a shoestring budget & some volunteer help. SAFE does the best they can with limited resources, but the dogs get fed once a day & due to very few volunteer dog walkers the dogs are mostly confined to cages, some having lived there for years. Some do get adopted but mostly they are prisoners.

They don't have a working phone number and no one responded to the messages left on Facebook.I'm heartbroken over the lack of care for the animals that need help with wounds and abandonment. Just sad really.

2 people representing this place brought a dog for adoption to a friend of mine house for a meet and greet. My girlfriend got attacked by there dog. The people representing this place who had control of this dog via leash let the dog bite my girlfriend not once but twice. I stated i neef to get her to hospital the SAFE people tried to talk me out of taking her to hospital. They were not remorseful at all..they didn't apologize they just kept saying the dog has never shown these signs before. The dog is 2 years old these people have had the dog 2 month's they got ut off the streets. They dont know the history of this dog. Bob Pierce is the guys name i dont know the female..they didn't offer there information they just took off with the dog. No one from this place has even bothered to contact my gf or i to see how shes doing. This place or these people have no business in business totally UNETHICAL and unprofessional. Now im stuck paying medical bills and taking care of my gf. THESE PEOPLE SAFE OBVIOUSLY DO NOT CARE..TAKE MY ADVICE DO NOT GO HERE AND DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. YOULL GET ATTACKED BY THERE DOG AND LEFT TO FEND FOR YOURSELF. THESE PEOPLE SIMPLY DO NOT CARE..YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED..BEWARE!! SAFE IS NOT SAFE. THEY WILL NOT STEP UP AND ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. IN FACT THEY ENCOURAGE YOU TO NOT MAKE A PAPER TRAIL..THEN AFTER YOUR ATTACKED BY THERE DOG..THEY DONT EVEN CARE ENOUGH TO CHECK ON YOU..SAFE IS A RIDICULOUS JOKE THEY ARE NOT SAFE..

Animals are housed in clean protected outdoor areas wbere they can excercise and interact with other dogs. One can tell by just observing the animals that they are well cared for and loved by the staff that care for them.

They are a wonderful shelter that does NOT euthanize healthy animals. TI donate blankets, towels and money. I donate as much as I can afford.

The great people that work there understand animals and Thrive to get them a good home. Go check them out for a great selection of animals that need homes desperately

Price of animals are to high and there is no "small store" to purchase collars and leashes anymore. Rooms where dogs stay stink so bad it burns my nose.

Stopped by to try to look for a dog. I was told to go to the Moody Road Location, because they only had "problem" dogs. As in "biters, barkers, and runners" she said. Still looking.
