I love shopping locally supporting small businesses. I can generally find what I want. The store brand Essentials is good. BUT...I freeze in the stores and it makes it uninviting to shop. I rush through and do not look at everything the way I normally do in a grocery. Consequently if I forget something I end up going to the Dollar General.I looked at my receipt and realized I had spent about $100 less on my groceries than normal. I told the manager Eric in Hawthorne. Unless the store temperature is raised up to a comfortable level, I'm going to be forced to change from a local grocery store. I go to Gainesville and/or Palatka 1 to 2 times per week. Until it's changed - Publix here I come. Chris

Hitchcock seems to be improving with productivity and customer service. I would continue shopping their. Thank you for the point system. I have on occasion accumulated enough points to get items with out spending money.

The absolute trashiest grocery store I've been in. Do not buy any food unless its canned, managers should be held accountable.A few weeks later and still the same?New visit today,still the same!Cashier was great, store condition not so much.They paint they outside of the building and parking lot put up new signage but when you walk in you quickly realize it's a dump. Just look at the stained floors and ceiling tiles.

Finally an old school supermarket! I liked it 😊 I I felt very Nostalgic it was clean and well organized and gave me that hometown feel.Oh and they have old school peanut brittle too yum!

Quaint store, some interesting values and reduced prices on things. Mests are thin sliced so no thick cut steaks.

This place is awful, do not waste your money or time here. Moved to the area not long ago and this is the closest grocery store for 15/20 miles. First of all, the prices are incredibly inflated, the store is filthy, the whole store reeks with a truly putrid smell and the produce looks awful…. I was hoping with it being a rural area the veggies would be farm fresh and the attitudes would be welcoming. It is the opposite. The cashiers are rude, incompetent and clearly have been raised by wolves….. over and over and over I have been in a great mood, went to go get groceries and by the end of my checkout experience I was truly perturbed each time. The cashiers do not speak, like at all! No total for your groceries, it’s up to you to realize they are done fumbling with the bags to get them open and cashing you out, so you stand there in awkward silence waiting for them to tell you to swipe your card….Never have I heard just a hello, or goodbye or anything really. Remnant of a zombie film, nothing, zero eye contact…. I’ve given chance after chance here and when I finally lost it and couldn’t take the rude weird feelings I was left with after grocery shopping, I asked to speak to a manager…. Well he was not helpful at all, seemed to speak about 4 words more than his co workers, never apologized and said he would talk to a whole other manager. Stood there like he hadn’t solved a problem in his 40 something years just gazed unprofessionally at my dismay… Yeaaaa, I will be driving to the next nearest town where a grocery store is from here on out. I’ve worked in customer service for 15 years plus and it is truly a shame that professional courtesy and basic service requirements were not expected upon hiring hitchcock employees….. maybe this little eye opener of a review will help!

Decent store pretty clean a lot of the items are more expensive than you'd pay in the city but if you're only picking up a few items it saves you a 30 minute drive into town. The meat on the other hand is sometimes a little less expensive than you'll find in the city and the cuts are good quality. Also even close to Thanksgiving the stores never really very busy.

Low quality meats and produce. I only go here if I'm in a hurry. Stay away from the deli for sure! I bought a package of baby Bella mushrooms recently along with a few other items. I did not want to drive the 20 plus miles to Puplix in Gainseville. I got home and opened the package. The top layer looked fine but the rest of the package was all moldy. I also bought a small bag of rice that was on sale for $.98. The larger bag was on sale for $1.78. I was looking at the receipt to see how much the mushrooms cost and noticed I was charged the price for the larger bag of rice. There were a few other items I was going to buy but they were priced so I passed them by. The corn on the cob was way over priced, they looked good so I bought 2. I paid over $2.25 for the two. The corn tasted terrible. I'll go hungry before going back to Hitchcocks. $12 for a bag of grapefruit,reidiculous!

Won't be going back there, coleslaw was sugar and vinegar, chicken was ok. Their prices are outrageous $10.00 for mac salad or pot.salad. not for me

Well, it started out great! Good food reasonable price..3 years later ...Prices are the most expensive I've seen in any supermarket around..and after the second time the food made me sick.. I quit shopping there.

The store is almost always dirty, the meat department is horrible. Produce moldy and you better check the dates on anything you purchase because they don't. It's a shame it could be a great store corporate should take notice.

Some of the nicest staff i have seen in a storefront. Thank you to Samantha for her fantastic help finding products. She was friendly and funny to talk to. She made my shopping experience quick, easy, and painless. She was also helping out other customers while assisting me, it blew my mind! Thank you!

It's a nice, small town grocery store with a wide selection of items. Unlike the Walmart deli in Silver Springs, their deli workers don't need to be told that a half dozen of something is six. And they have kombucha in stock.

Hitchcock's Market is awesome , as a descriptive word to describe the total shopping experience there.First, I was to say that every employee that I had contact with was very polite and nice.They have everything I wanted and I found somethings that I didn't know I needed..lol.The prices are great and the store is set up so that it's easy to shop.I've already told a few of my friends, and I know they will shop there too . So I will be back again...u can count on my being a long time future customer.

Surprisingly good variety for a rural supermarket. Some of the prices are high, or at least higher than Walmart, but location is right. Staff are very nice and helpful. The meat is fresh.

Traveling through Florida, we stopped at the Hitchcock’s SuperValu in Hawthorn Florida. We picked up two chicken dinners. What a fabulous employee behind the counter!! Besides the fact that dinner was yummy and an awesome value. We will absolutely stop again.

I called and spoke with the manager Eddy to express concerns on multiple occasions product being expired on the shelves which I did not realize till after I bought it. He basically told me oh well and hung up.that is not customer service this place is a disgrace.

Locally sourced items are extremely good values. Sometimes national brands' prices can't complete with larger supermarkets, but overall a good local place to shop. Great meat department with good help always available.

First time shopping here today. Nice produce,didn't have my Hillshire Farms sliced turkey I buy elsewhere. Good frozen selection. The deli fried squash I got was gross and I had to throw it away. A couple of my favorites we're on sale..😀. The check out girl must have been having a bad day, sour attitude , but the gentleman that bagged my groceries made up for it. Everything was grouped as it should be and treated my goodies with care. You don't get that kind of service anymore.

There's always friendly staff, ready and willing to help. But if it's options and variety you're looking for, this isn't the place to find it. The prices on things are jacked up so high that it's easy to see why product doesn't move that much. This grocer is ok in a pinch but definitely not my "go to" For regular grocery shopping.

This place could be so much better. The meets are cheep but not the vegetables or other grocery items. It a Great location. And I’d love to shop there more often. Maybe it will improve soon!

I'm not sure if it's this store or what, I don't have this problem with the Hitchcock's in Keystone but everytime I get food from this store I end up not feeling good after I eat it. Not food poisoning but my stomach gets upset. Has happened both times I've gotten groceries there.
