Incredibly difficult to work with and some seriously flawed ways they work.Adopt a pet great, need flea and heart worm medication well we need a new visit to charge you even though you got the animal less than a year ago.Any veterinarian I've ever dealt with, as long as it's in a 12 month period you are covered. I'm not subjecting my pet to an hours long trip in a cage for flea medication!Just say you want money and move on.Too many other good places around Gainesville to adopt from and use for medical needs. Go someplace else.

What a wonderful place with wonder staff and volunteers. Adopt, rescue, donate. This is one of the few places that appear to be who they say they are. I am so glad that we stumbled into all of your lives. Keep up the good and honest work. Not everything is measured by number.

Bella L is very controlling with these animals. Her common sense lacks highly. Here in Fl a lot of people have to drive a distance to a humane center because not everywhere has one located near them but Bella doesn’t want to not arrange meet & greets correctly, she’s not understanding. She also doesn’t understand if a family I willing to drive for a kitten then don’t you see that commitment? Rather than her & her foster that works all week & can’t arrange meet & greets correctly. Can’t send a picture over of the cat at the Foster’s if the cat was in such good hands you should have everything ready for this kitty to go to its forever home & you didn’t. You blame us the customer which is DISGUSTING! BELLA L you need to remember people are coming to save these animals & you’re just being unprofessional, rude, condescending. You make this place terrible. This was supposed to be a beautiful beginning for my family & this kitty but you ruined it with being unprofessional. Poor animals there that have to deal with you.

Bella Lentine exhibited highly unprofessional behavior during my interaction with them. I had arranged a meet-and-greet appointment regarding a kitten adoption. Despite requesting pictures for three days, I received them only 15 minutes before our scheduled meeting. Throughout this process, I emphasized my location, being an hour away from Gainesville, and the importance of seeing the kitten before committing to the trip. However, the staff's response was disappointing and condescending. They not only disregarded my concerns but also threatened to give the kittens we were interested in to a local family instead, citing our distance as a reason. This lack of consideration and professionalism left a negative impression and made the entire experience frustrating and upsetting.

We came yesterday to adopt a dog and Bella L was so lovely and perfectly matched us with our new puppy Valentine. We arranged a meet and greet the next day with our older dog and everything went perfectly. Everyone was so helpful and professional. Thank you guys so much!

My family has adopted two senior dogs from The Humane Society of North Central Florida. Recently one of my seniors Bear has been seen in the walk in clinic and the staff from the second we walked in at the front desk to the care Dr. Elswick and her team provide is nothing short of amazing. I feel heard when I come to discuss my pet’s care and ailments. I never feel rushed or forced in a certain direction. I am extremely confident in the knowledge of the entire staff and I know they truly care about my pet and not just about the money which is a hard thing to find. Please trust these amazing people with the care of your pets.

Reading some of the bad reviews really makes me sad. I've been volunteering with this rescue for 2 years and have fostered cats for them twice and have never been treated rudely or seen a staff member treat anyone else rudely. If you adopt an animal from a shelter, you do have a small risk of the animal having a sickness or condition previously not discovered (just like can happen with humans) given the amount of animals that are housed under the same roof. This is sometimes unavoidable even with the best disinfection practices. If something comes up after you adopt an animal, definitely contact them because they will for sure resolve anything that pops up soon after adoption. I am pretty sure they even give certificates for a free vet checkup upon adopting an animal, but that may just be at adoption events. I'm really sorry if anyone had a bad experience here and I'm not saying I don't believe their experiences but I can assure you the staff members I've been in contact with really care about the animals and their wellbeing.

Amazing care of my elderly pup. They took the time to listen to all his ailments & we came up with good options. So glad I was able to go back with him in the exam room to have that conversation. Hoping they keep letting fur moms back with their babies. They were very patient with him even though he was very obstinate to the bordetella. I’m happy to say he is doing so much better now. Highly recommend them. Dr Elswick is awesome & caring!!

They sold me a dog with cancer. They claimed he was neutered, when he just tried to screw another dog in front of me. They claimed he was 2 years younger when he’s older. They claimed he was heartworm free when he wasn’t. I had to take him back to the Humane Society for treatment because they cut corners and only gave him 2 shots instead of 3. It’s a good thing I did because all 3 shots is apparently $1,000. They did that free of cost after I gave them some strong words. From the moment I got him it’s been only issues. He had allergies that I had to spend $300 on an allergy test to figure out because he was covered in rashes. He had kennel cough and I had to then spend $200 on that. Literally the worst establishment ever. Waste of time and money. I love my pup but poor thing has been through everything because they did not give him comprehensive care before I adopted him. Do not adopt from here unless you want to spend thousands of dollars. I am now sitting in my car deciding if I should spend $600 every 3 weeks toward chemotherapy or put my dog down.

They are very slow in responding to any way I have tried to adopt a cat/kitten. They send snail/email messages instead of texts. Would not let me adopt a cat because I have 10 month old puppy because she has not been altered. This is my choice if I want to have my Bella fixed/ unaltered or not.

I first found out about this place in December of 2020 after my daughter was killed, leaving behind 2 small children and a big dog. Someone got me in touch with a lady by the name of Chelsea who quickly became a huge mainstay in the kids’ lives as well as mine. She made arrangements to pick up Aries and assess him. She was able to find him a well deserved loving forever home. Thank you Chelsea.Since then I have donated lots of items to their their thrift store and have shopped there as well. The staff is awesome, so pleasant, smiles on their faces that make you feel like they are happy to be there and very happy you are there. The first person I met was Ron. Ron is a hard worker, full of endless energy and is always ready to help unload your car and does it with a smile and even a joke or two. He made me feel at ease dropping items off. This organization is a wonderful and very caring place. They work tirelessly to take good care of the animals they have in their care and even harder to find these precious animals loving forever homes. If you can find it in your heart to donate to them in some way, I would encourage you to do so. Call them and see what they need. It is so worthwhile and it will warm your heart to know you played a part in helping them to be able to continue doing the wonderful work they do.Thank you Chelsea and ALL of the staff!!!God bless you

Whether you’re looking to adopt, foster, or are in need of other resources for your pet, I can’t recommend this organization enough! Their services are affordable and the staff and volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. It takes an army and everyone here gives their all to provide these pets a second chance and help them find loving homes. I have adopted all five of my dogs from them and am so thankful for the work they do in our community and surrounding areas.

Had an appointment to adopt a kitten that we could not take on the Saturday we came to see her due to her still needing shots. We were repeatedly reassured that she was being held until our appointment on Monday, and there was no way she could be adopted out in the meantime, since we had an appointment to adopt. We purchased all new supplies (toys, litterbox, bowls, etc) and showed up to our appointment to find out she had been adopted out.To be fair, all of the rescues in Gainesville could use a LOT of work, and while I’m sure they are doing their best, this is still extremely disappointing for us. I highly doubt we will consider adopting from here again.

Adopted my puppy from here amazing but we’ve been to the vet clinic 2 times. The first time amazing but the second time was HORRIBLE. Told the front desk girl with blue hair that I had a puppy who is need of only one vaccine told me it was going to be a “few minutes since it’s only one vaccine” I came in around 11:22AMI check back in at 12:57 to ask I understand I have to wait but I do have an exam to take and want to make sure I have time and she looks at me and gives me the wrong dog name and at 1:10 she writes my dogs name on the check in list even thought we came 1 hr earlier.I check back in again another front desk girl is there and she tells me “i have to wait 2 hours” and these two idiots of customer who one of them didn’t have their dog in a proper leash because beforehand the owner tried separating it from another pit bull and THE LEASH WENT OVER HIS HEAD so the owner grabs him by the collar. Why lie to me about a time and than forget my puppy existedRIDCULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A JOKE OF VET STAFF.

Just adopted my lil baby kitten at PetsMart through this agency. My little kitty is nice and healthy, and is very good about using his litter box and even mostly uses his scratching box. I feel like he was saved and handled with extreme care. I also like how they gave me all of his information and medical records.

I adopted two kittens from this humane society and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I always go back for check ups and for flea medication and every time I go I don’t think I could have a better experience then they prove me wrong on the next visit!!! I absolutely love this humane society and know they always try their best!!

This is the best place to have a pet fixed! The people are so nice and helpful! I had 1 cat fixed here already and 1 is being done today. I don't have anything bad to say about them. I highly recommend them!! Keep up the good work guys!! 👍😁🙏

I have a 'last chance' dog that I have been fostering for 6 months and the Vet keeps coming up with excuses why they can't cut or trim her nails . I've had scratches from her so deep that I had to put a pressure bandage on to stop the bleeding . She has begun to chew off parts of her nails herself and yet they won't even take the time to drunmel her nails or effectively address any of her other medical issues.

I had a kitten born with a partial amputation which resulted in a need for a full amputation. They were able to offer this operation at a more than affordable price. Luke at the front desk helped immeasurably with scheduling and was very prompt, oftentimes responding outside of these posted hours of operation, helping with my own hectic work schedule. Sammy, working in the back on the felines, was always very positive and professional and double-checked any questions to accommodate my worries.I’m very happy with the progress of healing and would definitely recommend this place for any similar issues. I cannot speak for the handling of dogs, but I’d imagine it’s similar, and I’ve seen at least one dog being walked every single time I’ve arrived and left.I appreciate the professionalism in what must be a demanding occupation. Thank you all.

It’s sad to say this about an organization that saves animals, but this place is so badly run it’s amazing. They are unreliable and extraordinarily rude. My daughter fostered her first dog here and they gave her a wonderful dog who was heartworm positive and totally downplayed the condition repeatedly changed the explanation of treatment and severity and endangered his life. They didn’t give him his medication and then argued with us telling us that we had been giving him the medication. Obviously we knew we hadn’t. They claimed to have given my daughter an emergency number which we never got and had her sign a contract that she never got a copy of. She had to take him to an emergency vet because they don’t answer the phones and we had no emergency number and the vet was the person who explained the severity of his condition and got us the medication he should have been on all along. I actually brought my dogs here for vet services and spoke with the vet who seems competent so I assume the problem is with the uninformed and rude people who work the front desk. They simply make things up answer questions and treat people like they’re doing them a favor rather than as people seeking to adopt. It’s literally awful and if you call them on their behavior they get very defensive and rude. I strongly urge anyone to have any animal adopted here checked by an independent vet and at the minimum google search any information these people give you. They literally almost killed our newest family member.

I can take care of all dogs, big ones and little ones. I walk them, play with them, talk to them and listen to them . I can also brush them and bath them. I've done 120 pound boxers to German shepherds, 100 pounds pit bulls and small Pomeranian mix. I can get letters of reference from the last 3 families I am still in touch with. And still do their dogs. I only charge 10 an hour. It's not the money,it's making sure the dog is clean and happy and safe

Absolutely wonderful! Every person there and the services they provide and I will be making a donation and if any amount is possible do the same. Everything went perfect including people helping me through text messages when they weren't even open. Second pet that had surgery there and again I'm just going to say amazing people amazing place!

My roommate adopted our cat from there. Super easy process, staff was exceptionally nice. We've been going to the clinic since then. The new guy doing the clinic (brad maybe?) is extremely kind and knowledgeable. Very patient with everyone. Wait times have been long recently but well worth it for the quality of service.
