i walked into shop expecting to purchase some things for my bearded dragon . I was not greeted not one time . As i walked in it was the most foul smell and the uncleanliness was the most eye catching . As soon as i walk in a i notice a full grown monitor lizard in a 40 gallon tank where as he couldn’t even turn around . Than I continue on and i see bearded dragons in way too small tanks, tanks on the floor improperly husbandry and bearded dragons high in distress. Every beardie i looked at was stressed to the max. The bearded dragons didn’t even have a UVB light that they need to grow properly only a too small heat lamp that i’m sure wasn’t reaching correct temps. i couldn’t even continue looking throughout the store as i was disgusted by the so called care for these animals . I wouldn’t buy anything from this establishment and its unfortunate because these animals are being abused . I’ve included only a few photos i could stomach to take .

I know nothing about non mammal pets but my 6 year old is interested. We're not quite ready yet and still researching so we are educated and prepared. However, we enjoyed looking around and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. When we are ready to adopt a new pet, we will be back.

It's great when they have feeders, but they never seem to keep them in stock. After coming here 3 times to see if they had live feeders, every time they said they were completely out. Unfortunately I'm going to have to take my business to somewhere that cares about their customers enough to keep a healthy stock of supplies and feeders.

The girl working here was very knowledgeable about all the reptiles. Gave us good advice on things we were looking for. All of the reptiles here appear to be very well taken care of and cared for. Nice selection of products too.

Very knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to educate anyone about animals! We get all of our pets, feeders, tanks, and tank accessories from here. If they don't have what you need they can order it or let you know where else you can find it. We are constantly learning more about our reptiles and the best way to care for them (and bringing home more pets). Both stores are great and always fun to visit!

Lots of great reptiles! Kinda smells like it, too. But they have great feeder crickets and meal worms for my leopard gecko, so I was happy. Customer service could use a bit of help. I walked in, walked around for awhile, and headed to the counter, and had to wait a bit for personal conversations before I had to interrupt and ask for what I needed but was friendly on departure.

Very nice, excellent display of animals and in well kept cages and sizes. Went to repticon because my brother wanted to see some reptiles and honestly it was a shame not much variety and in tiny plastic containers, so sad. Brought him here and although it was small even he said it was a million times better!

I bought a pair of crested geckos from there. They have a ton of diverse reptiles, a few I had never heard of before. Overall friendly and informative store.

The girl who helped me today was super helpful. She helped me get everything I needed to get my girls pet snake set up.Including a heat lamp to keep it warm and a bulb as well.My problem: I opened the box for the heat lamp in my house, and it was full to the brim with roaches. I may now be looking at a roach infestation in my home because I wasn't fast enough to kill them all. I'm raging right now. This snake is going to cost me more than I ever now that I have to call an exterminator.

If there’s anything in this world I love more than animals, it’s the people who properly take care of them and love them endlessly. The staff at Gator City Reptiles proves this time and time again with their knowledge and doting personalities for all of their scale babies. I have been hesitant on leaving this review but I feel like I should so others know. I bought my kids a bearded dragon from this place in August. The next day when we woke up I felt like something was wrong so I called the Reptile store and told them our concerns. I was advised that everything you Is fine the dragon is probably transitioning into it’s knew home and also the dragon shouldn’t have water inside the tank. So I took it out per their expert.The next day the dragon still didn’t want to eat much so I called again and they gave me a list of foods it likes and I went out and bought everything. Still didn’t eat much. I was also told toPut sand in the tank and it only has a bowel movement once a week. The next day I called again and was told everything is fine. We gave it a little bath per their recommendation. The next day I told my daughter to go check on it and it wasn’t moving so I told her we should take it out and when she did it was stiff as a board. All my kids cried all night long witnessing this. I called the store the next day they were open and advised them. They said we don’t offer refunds and I said I understand but I called with in24 hours of getting this about our concerns. Can you at least replace it and they said “No but we can offer you 10% off another one”. After I had just spent almost $400 a couple days prior and I said I can’t do that. Then they said get a Gecko and I asked what is that going to cost me and they said $160-$200.I just found out from another reptile store that they are supposed to have water in the tank and sand is the worst thing to have in it and it will eat it on accident when eating its food. Also, they are supposed to go to the bathroom daily.

Sad that this is the only real option in Gainesville. I would never consider/recommend getting an animal from here - amphibian, reptile, or invert. Awful enclosures, with animals added and replaced with no proper cleaning or disinfection.Staff turns over constantly and many must have gotten husbandry info from reading Facebook posts for a week or two.The only reason I ever go is for live feeders for problematic eaters. And even that is never reliable. Instead of keeping a better idea of supply needs - they sell out at random times and just keep repeating when to come back for their next shipment. When going back is the last thing anyone who actually knows about reptile care or reptile well being would want to do.Hoping for more store options in the area in the future.

Best place for all your reptile & amphibian needs. I go there for food for my pets, but in the past bought a crested gecko & a musk turtle. They also helped me with the setup of habitats.

It just smells horrible, the poor animals don't have enough space in most of there cages and a lot of them are too overpriced. Especially when I got to a PetSmart and can find the same exact animals for 200 dollars less. I genuinely do not like how there treating the animals.

We purchased a Leopard Gecko as a friend for our current leopard gecko, and were told at the time of purchase on 11/19/22 that she had been candled and was pregnant. To save the babies as I have lost them before with my current gecko, we agreed to let them keep her until she laid and pick her up afterward. I called regularly to inquire if she had laid yet and also dropped by to visit. Almost two months later on 1/15 I went to check on her again. At that point no one knew if she had clutched yet. I request they check. I was then told she may never have been candled and thus may never have been pregnant. So every time I called or came in no one actually checked to see if she had clutched. In addition, she had been held by store visitors after purchase, which is not common practice. While we were there the final day she was dropped by staff (I did not see this but my partner did.) The manager was apologetic but we did not hear from the owner, received a discount of $7 for the worms and crickets we bought, but got no other recompense on the $412 in merchandise and purchase costs we spent on the initial purchase and equipment. Will seriously re-evaluate purchasing from Gator City Reptiles ever again. Not even certain gecko we have is the original gecko we fell in love with.

The owner of this place was very nice and extremely helpful! He took time to answer questions, show me things and even though I reside out of the area, I was still able to put a reptile on layaway! I will definitely be back and will tell my friends about this place!

Very clean and spacious with a laid-back atmosphere. The staff have decades of experience and are very knowledgeable and friendly. They also have a nice selection of feeder insects. Their selection of supplies seems a little small right now, but I attribute that to the fact that they are a brand new store, so I expect that to change as they become more established. I highly recommend this place for reptile owners in the area who need a place to get substrate or feeders, and also to anyone interested in learning more about the reptile hobby in general. Great place, and I'll definitely be coming back!

This place is just terrible. Never have live mice. When I call it’s the most unenjoyable experience just to ask if they have them. Employees sound and look miserable. When I arrive it’s just a terrible customer service experience. Wont be back
