We had a kind and caring experience adopting our sweet and cute pup from APR! They really care about all the animals there with constant praise and walks to enjoy their day and get them ready to adopt and find their forever home! They followed up with us on the same day we filled out the application and gave us a meet and greet appointment for that weekend (next day) and pickup after getting neutered the following week!! They provided us with some supplies to make his transition easier and followed up with us to confirm we completed all medication he went home with. Happy to continue to share our little guy’s story with their alumni page! Thanks for adding such a big blessing to our lives!!

Best no-kill shelter ever! They take great care of the animals, there are tons of volunteers to help, and they take every application seriously to make sure they find the perfect match for you. If you want to save a life and adopt a cat/dog, this is THE place!

I can not tell you how amazing the people at abandoned pet rescue are! From the moment I walked into that door I felt the bad vibes coming from the workers. With the exception of the one lady with dark hair that was very nice. I have never met that many unfriendly & unwelcoming ladies in my entire life! I ended walking out & will never return. If you want warm feelings from the staff, this isn’t the place to go. Makes me feel uneasy that they actually take care of animals.

The two lady’s in the front desk are very unwelcoming and didn’t even acknowledge our existence until we told them we had an appointment for a specific dog. The lady in the back that actually showed us the dog was nice at first. But once it became apparent that the dog would not be a good fit, she changed completely. We explained what we were looking for and asked for recommendations, but they didn’t let us see any other dog. I don’t know if they got upset that we didn’t want to take the original dog or what, but this place is just bad vibes. We wanted to adopt a dog, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to at least see the other dogs, instead they just told us to check their website and make another appointment if we see something else we like and basically kicked us out. I don’t understand why we couldn’t spend some time with other dogs, don’t you want them to be adopted? Anyways won’t be going back here. Also parking is terrible so get there early.

Do not come here at all. Went here 5 days ago it smells like rats. Cat food or dog food everwhere. Place does not look kept up and the front desk worker cant really talk sounds surverly sick. And photos does not match from google maps. Place needs help. I feel for them animals. They say they was going to give me a call back in the next seven days. Never got one. Dont come here they located from a railroad track 2 miles from a dead end. From sunrise blvd and dixe highway.

Worst adoption center ever. They have so many animals and don’t focus on getting them adopted. Filled out the adoption application then drove 1 hour to the center to see Aerial. They wouldn’t let her out of her kennel so we could see her. They said Carolyn would call us to set up a meet and greet. Only to be sent home without Aerial and then we waited a week for her call. And to this day we are still waiting for her to call. We left a voice mail everyday since then to get no response. Sent them an email everyday to get no response. They have no interest in adopting animals as they are to overwhelmed with trying to take of the animals they have.rescued to adopt them out

From the first call, Kara was very informative and caring making sure that any and all adoptable pets go to a great home. She made the whole process stress free and was able to get things done in timely manner. I had a few meet and greets with the puppy Finn ( now Rémy) I was adopting and every volunteer and guest who came into contact with him loved him!I’m happy to say that in the 2 months that I have had Rémy he has succeeded far beyond my expectations . He is now fully crate/ house trained and knows he’s basic commands in 3 languages. He’s one smart little pup and so well behaved and tempered that I’m blessed that I was able to adopt him and give him a loving home! Even though he may have his 🐾 wrapped around my finger 😆 I wouldn’t change it for anything! Thank you Abandoned Pet Rescue for ALL your help! Rémy says he’s living his best beach life!

Kara is kind, professional, and extremely helpful, as is the rest of their staff.I don’t think people realize just how much blood, sweat, and tears go behind running a rescue.Believe the glowing reviews and adopt, don’t shop.

My boyfriend and I had a 1pm appointment to see a very sweet dog. The lady’s in the front lady's were very unwelcoming. The lady who actually showed us the dog was very nice at first but after a while she started what felt like talking down the dog saying stuff like she barks at cars, something that I think is very normal but the way she went about trying to explain it made it seem as if it was a big issue. Also stating stuff like she’s bad at new adjustments like that wouldn’t be something that’s pretty normal. The dog was barking at cars and she stated “your neighbors wouldn’t like that barking, as if we didn’t know dogs bark which is a very normal thing. What I feel it the worse part is that we told them over the phone where we lived, what hours we worked and they where the ones who said this would be the best dog. At the end we all agreed that maybe she wasn’t the one and agreed to look at another dog and as We walked around to see the rest of the dogs she kept talking down on them like this one barks too much and this one pees himself. What confuses me the most is that we know dogs aren’t perfect the same way humans aren’t perfect and obviously pointing out stuff that needs work isn’t a bad thing but saying those things in a way that makes the dogs seem like horrible options is super rude, it’s like she doesn’t have a single good thing to say about the dogs. Secondly she never really talked to me only to my bf.

I volunteered at APR for a year before I moved out of state and I was impressed on the dedication of the staff and volunteers. If you are looking for a place to volunteer this is a great place to do so! They have so many great dogs too!

Great animal rescue! Friendly staff that cares very much for their rescued dogs and cats. Brought a kitten that we found running in the street, on a Sunday.(good luck finding a shelter open on Sundays, not even vets).Very happy we found a shelter that will find the kitten a loving home. Made a donation to support such a great organization.

I have been a Volunteer, Doggy Foster, and Adopter of Chloe (pictured) for Abandoned Pet Rescue and they have been the most responsible and professional non-profit I have worked with. They truly care about their animals and always have the best interest of the pet at heart. This rescue is one of the few NO-KILL shelters left in Broward County. If you are looking for a pet to adopt or a place to donate to/volunteer for I would highly recommend APR, they are the best!

Adopted my lovely cat, mango (formerly named trick) back in December from Cheryl. She was great and thorough in making sure mango went to a great home. The process was long but I appreciated all the thought they put into making sure the pets go to a great home. Mango gets along great with our other cat and I’m so glad we rescued him from here!

We had the opportunity to foster our dog before adopting to ensure he got along with our cat. Before we brought him home, APR put him in their cat room so we were able to see how he’d potentially react when he met our cat. When we picked Ernie up to take him home, he has no less than 7 volunteers all saying goodbye to him. Showering him with love and positive affirmations and so happy to see him leave with us. The way he felt so comfortable and bonded with the volunteers showed me that APR loves on the animals they take care of and try to establish a positive and safe space for those who are there.Ernie had a torn ligament and we were able to have him checked out by their vet for adopting him. Because this was something that happened before us, APR is going to cover the procedure to ensure he’s comfortable in our home.I highly recommend APR - their volunteer staff is awesome and it’s a loving place. Being that Ernie (we now named him Hops), has always basically lived in a shelter, we know his loving and well tempered personality is in part because of the love he was shown there.

My husband and I met APR’s volunteers at an event at Jack Pastorius Park. We went to APR and met more volunteers and employees. We really liked their mission and the love and care they provide to their rescues. We decided to help by walking dogs. A year and a half later I’m still volunteering twice a week and have met some amazing people and animals. I highly recommend visiting APR and giving a loving dog or cat a furever home. Come by and take a dog for a walk and spend some time playing in the cat rooms.This is Alley. Alley is such a loving dog. She likes to go for walks and once she gets to know you she will give you all her love. An amazing and sweet girl that just wants a home and a place to run and play.

Wonderful rescue, highly recommend this place to find the right fit for your home. We worked with Cheryl to adopt a lovely kitten, she was very responsive to texts even outside of rescue hours and kept us up to date every step of the adoption process. We visited twice to make sure our kitten was going to be a good match. The older cats had a large setup where they could go inside or outdoors to play and there were so many sweet cats there that needed homes, and each one had their own personality. Cheryl told me some people spend hours in the cat rooms meeting everyone and that's certainly true, I ended up there for a few hours each visit and fell in love with so many. If you're looking for a kitty please go here! We were also able to meet the senior cats and there were many sweet, lower energy seniors needing homes. To top it off their kitten room was amazing! Plenty of towers, toys and other kittens to keep them happy and entertained. I can't recommend this place enough, and thank them so much for our sweet girl!

I am so grateful for this place and the people who work in it. Soon I will be bringing home this sweet little guy. Until he can come to his forever home, I know he is in good hands.I wish all animals could receive this care in a no-kill shelter while they wait to be rescued by a loving family. This place is absolutely amazing and Cheryl is one of the nicest people you will meet. I was looking to get a fourth cat that would mesh with my existing pets who all have very distinctive personalities. Cheryl was patient and kind, helping us to complete our family. I would highly recommend this facility as the animals are well cared for and they are not just looking to get rid of the them; they are looking to place them in homes that fit with both the owner’s and the pet’s needs.
