Dr. Marilyn Tobey and the staff of Floral City Veterinary Hospital are wonderful! I came to them at the recommendation of my sister. Prior to going there, my fur babies received all of their veterinary care at Humane Society of Tampa Bay, from where they were adopted. The difference in the care received can't be overstated. From our first visit when my 10 year old baby girl was suspected of having lymphoma to the last visit at the end of her battle, we received such loving care from Dr. Tobey and her staff. We felt supported and included in the medical decisions. We felt like we had a team behind us as we navigated this devastating time. The vet and her staff treated our baby so gently and with the care they would provide to their own family. We live over an hour away from Floral City. Making that drive as often as every week was well worth it. Our sweet girl was a tentative and nervous soul, wary of new people and places. Max and Kylie, Veterinary Techs Extraordinaire, were exceptionally gentle and thoughtful and loving. Dr. Tobey is knowledgeable and supportive and reassuring. Pauline is the smiling, kind, and helpful voice on the phone. Combined they are a gift to their patients and the family. I highly recommend them.

We went to Floral City Veterinary Hospital for the first time this past Friday. We were so pleased with our visit. We were able to get an appointment within a week and their receptionist Pauline was so nice and welcoming. Their vet tech, Max, was very impressive. He was extremely professional, thorough, and caring with our golden babies. They took their time to ensure all our needs were met and questions were answered. I really liked how they completed all testing and procedures in the room with us instead of taking them out of the room like most vet’s offices these days. Max helped us out so much by trimming our dogs nails. It is usually such a chore for us and he did it so well and handled our dogs with care. Dr. Tobey was very thorough and took her time to explain everything and gave us ample time to ask questions. What an awesome experience. We feel like our dogs are in good hands there. Thank you so much! We look forward to seeing everyone again!

Only place I've been that the vet seemed like she cared. Been to two other vets and she gave my pet meds that helped 1st day!

This companion animal hospital is located on Orange Avenue at the NE corner of Florida Ave (SR41). Free customer parking is located in the back, which you reach from the Florida Ave vehicle entrance. Dr Tobey is the owner and veterinarian. She has several vet techs assisting her with the pet patients. This is not a large practice like you might find in Tampa, but it is still able to provide most routine veterinary care services. Dr Tobey is very compassionate towards her pet patients. Payment for services is expected when services are rendered, and the hospital accepts cash and major credit cards. I have brought my dog there for several exams, and have no complaints or concerns.

Dr Toby and her entire staff are some of the most compassionate people I have ever met. They made the worst day of my life so much more bearable. I'll miss my kitty forever but I know she had the best care possible. They even checked up on me a couple of weeks later.★★★★★★★★★Several years later Dr Toby and her amazing team are still part of my life taking great care of my furry family! The price of her skill and experience is nothing compared to the compassion and love she and her entire office give for free.

Dr. Tobbe is a very experienced vet. She truly cares for all animals. I think she prefers them over people and I don’t blame her for that. The staff are very friendly and caring towards us and our kitties. We always leave the office feeling relieved that our pets are getting the best care.

I met Dr Tobey and her staff after moving to Floral City with my 13 year old Labrador Sophie. I cannot speak highly enough of the kindness, thorough care and heartfelt advice I have received at Floral City Animal Hospital. Dr Tobey shares her expertise and looks beyond the surface to find the most effective means to treat pain, infections and the acute suffering that can happen with older dogs. I don't have a cat but I am sure she is equally skilled with felines. Her knowledge of physiology is outstanding. Her ability to explain the relative merits of one medication vs another is also outstanding. Now I have a new puppy. He has been to see Dr Tobey for vaccinations and routine care twice and will continue to be cared for by her.Her staff are equally skilled at their respective positions. Right up to and including reception and booking and billing I have always been very happy with the service I receive.I live in Floral City, having moved here from Colorado. I feel extremely fortunate to have found such great veterinary care for my canine family members Bear and Sophie.

I have been taking my dogs to Floral City Veterinary Hospital for a few years. I originally went there after I adopted my first rescue dog as they are very close to my work. But am I glad I did! I have added another dog and a cat to our family and Dr. Tobey and her staff are always friendly, knowledgeable and caring. They follow up after treatment to make sure your pet is well. This really puts your mind at ease and shows how really dedicated they are to their profession. I am SO glad I found them for my pets.

I want everyone to be aware that this is not really a hospital. Their hours do not reflect that. They work primarily from home. My issue with this office is in July of 2021 my 12 year old dog was diagnosed by this clinic as having an enlarged heart . I was prescribed medications that have an expiration date of 2023. Obviously the Dog must be on this for life as she is old. I chose to have my prescriptions filled by Chewy.com at a very significant savings . This vet is severely overpriced in her cost of medications. I had auto ship set up with Chewy and the last few months the approval from this office was mostly always delayed.Right before Christmas 2021 (5 months only since Dr Toby gave me the prescription ) I get a phone call from Pauline claiming Chewy needs the Vet to see the Dog .Since I found that questionable I pressed her for more until she finally told me the truth, that it was the Vet that wanted to see the dog. She would not authorize Chewy to dispense the medication unless I brought her into the office. Now this all occurred a few days before Christmas when everyone is traveling and having busy schedules.I was never given 30 days initial notice for cancellation of my prescription which I paid for at my initial vet consultation.AS if that is not bad enough I also received right before Christmas a bill from her claiming I owe $50 for a medication that I already received at Chewy.com with no refills . I have previously spent over $800 in July for Dignosis tests with this VET. All bills paid and acounted for. This woman is losing her business and is out to make money.Probably does this to many of her elderly patients. She hates the fact that Chewy.com is taking away her profits for meds. She never told me that my dog had to return for a future checkup. My dog was fine on this medication and this vet office is clearly into profits.Additionally, if you are not careful she will charge you for things you did not approve of. My bill states a heart worm test was done which I never approved of and was charged for it anyway even though it was scheduled for the following visit. And I do not have the results of that test showing it was done.If you are not careful she will continue to keep advising more tests for your pet that are not needed. This is how she makes her money and did it to me .I would caution you that this office has left my pet without medication during January 2022 and I am now looking for another vet to take my dog to .The medication my dog takes for the heart is one that must be lowered in dose and not removed suddenly. I have also written a certified letter to this office about their actions and plan to proceed with the veterinary board. If you are a Facility that does not want to honor prescriptions at Chewy.com then you should disclose that up front before you take any appointments. If you give a prescription with an expiration date then it should be honored. If the Vet needs to see the dog, then a 30 days initial notification should be given before any prescriptions are cancelled. I find anything else misleading when you pay for her consultations.I caution you to go elsewhere with your pet, this is an office that is more focused on paying their bills than caring for your pet.

Doc Toby is great with my dog. My dog actually gets excited when we arrive. The staff is excellent also it's always the same staff members. I like that because they know my dog and my dog knows them. She gets treats for good behavior and no treats when she is being a bull head (boxer). This is Dixies vet for life.

I am new to the State and area. No waiting weeks to get in..This place was great... I am excited to have them giving my 2 Dogs and 2 cats the best of care. They even take carecredit.. They give out great information and any other pet help you may need like private trainer. Prices were very reasonable. They even called to check on my baby after his shots day before. I looking forward to more visits with them..

The staff and everyone that works there is superb. I took my dog in with a few issues and wanting to update his vaccinations. The vet was so caring and patient with us and my dog. He is a older dog, who just needed some love and patience..

Dr. Tobey has been my Veterinarian since 1990 when I lived in Lecanto. I moved to Ohio for a short time and Dr. Tobey moved her practice to Floral City and when I moved back to Spring Hill I was glad she could once again be my Veterinarian. She is a very caring doctor and always knows exactly what to do for them. My animals are always glad to see her and it is a great comfort knowing that anytime I have a sick pet she is there to care for them. Thank you Dr. Tobey.

Dr. Toby and staff are awesome! I have a very aggressive German Shepherd and she has even gotten to the point where she wants to go here for the love and attention! To me, my pets endorsement is all I need!!!

The place is very easy to find. With the parking in the back of the business it makes getting in and out easy. They are a terrific vet, and takes the time you require to feel comfortable and happy with the service. They are very understanding, take excellent care of your animals. Offer allot of services, even on spur of the moment if need be!

For new patients you're charged two exam fees and a $10 fee for them to "put your file together" totalling $70 just to be seen. Go somewhere else this place is a waste of money. They gave my cat a $53 test I didn't even ask for. This was a horrible experience and I will never go back.

There are veterinarians ....then you have veterinarians like Dr. Toby who are truly special. She makes my dog feel secure and she treats him like he is special. I never feel rushed out if they are busy as she has a calm presence that helps me if not my dog to. I posted on pet luv cause I've been there but for true medical needs only Dr. Toby is where I go. Need a vet? You cannot find any one better.

Our home and regular vet are in St. Pete. But when we're at our cabin near Floral City and one of our dogs has a problem we call Dr. Tobey, who also happens to be a personal friend. She and her staff have always been very obliging and responsive. Very professional and knowledgeable. If we lived there full time, she would definitely be our vet.

I chose this vet clinic, due to it's distance from our home. The staff was great, greeting our pet, and us. The doctor had nearly no patience with our pet. He had never been to a doctor, he was a rescue animal. After several attempts to examine him, she commented, " This is ridicules" Telling us that he needs to let her examine him. When I told her I took him in, when the owner could no longer care for him, she commented, " There's no such thing as a free dog". Meaning he had some problems. No joke, that is why he was there! Thank goodness she's not a pediatrician. Needless to say, I will NEVER go there again.

As we consider our dogs as part of our family and not just pets, I wanted to make sure we take them to a good doctor. I was very happy with the Doctor and staff at the office; they were all great with Pocket. I will be taken our other baby to her.

We are originally from Baltimore, lived in Pensacola for 6 years and moved to Floral City in 2013 with our 5 cats. Trying to obtain a vet recommendation, we spoke with several pet owners in town. Unfortunately, they did not seem to think that regular veterinary care was important and could not provide us with any information on any local veterinary practices. We chose Floral City Veterinary Hospital because it was conveniently located. There are several things I look for when I trust someone to care for my pets. In Baltimore, I had a vet for my cat who passed away at age 21. He was wonderful, but the staff was always trying to hustle their clients out of money with extra services and appointments. In Florida, we took our cats to Dr. Jean Guilihorn's cat clinic. She was excellent and worked only on cats, and her prices were mostly reasonable. I liked the idea of a cats only practice. However, her hours were limited and with 5 cats, we needed a back up--The Safe Harbor Animal Hospital. Very high volume, but again, excellent care and even lower prices.Based on the above, I knew what I was looking for in a veterinary practice. Dr. Tobey is outstanding and I love her stories about the early years of her residency in veterinary medicine. She has a wide breadth off knowledge about domestic animals and livestock. Her staff is wonderful and Pauline always follows up after our visit to make sure our cats are okay. The office is always clean and neat and I have never detected any foul odors in the office. I have never had to worry about being hustled by the staff or the doctor, as they are very up front and honest about what costs will be incurred and they also provide estimates. The vet techs, Sarah and Ronnie are gentle and kind to our cats. Unfortunately, we lost one cat to an accident last year so we now have 4. The prices are higher here than in Pensacola, but that seems to be the norm with everything between the Panhandle and Central Florida. I would like to see a more holistic rather than medicinal approach to pet care, and hope that progress in the field of veterinary medicine extends itself to replacing the "dreaded thermometer" with a less invasive way of obtaining an animal's temperature. I would recommend Floral City Veterinary Hospital.

Heres my experience with this vet. The Doctor is very nice. However thats where my review then goes South as they say. I waited for almost 2hrs to see her, despite my having and apt. The receptionist was berating the new trainee the whole time. And to be fair the new 'help' has no place in that office, as she called my dog, a cat more than a few times. Lastly my dog because of her breed has breathing issues. Iv always been told by my Vet, sedation is not recommended . I told this to this Dr. The Doctor wanted to sell me pills anyways. In all fairness my dog was not cooperative. But I also dont believe in a Vet who cant handle a muzzled 30lbs dog. I felt like I was being upsold at ever corner. 40$ bag of dog food. 40$ pills (I said I dont want nor are they healthy for her breed). Follow up apts was the thing that really put me off from ever returning. I have never had a Vet use the term "guessing" at a UTI. Then told if I want a proper lab its another 160? Why are you charging for a lab then? Then tell me to return all over again, in two, maybe three more visits. If I had done all the Dr. suggested this bill would have ran me well over 500$. This is not a office I plan on returning too.

I have no issues with the quality of care with this veterinarian, if fact I think the folks there and doctor are excellent. BUT, their business practices leave a lot to be desired. It’s all about the almighty dollar. I needed to renew my dogs heart worm prescription and shopped around to obtain the best pricing...especially this time of the year with Christmas and all. I’m not rich and on a fixed income. I found excellent pricing at Chewy and ordered it. Chewy notified me they would need to get an authorized prescription from my vet and would proceed with the order once received. I then received a call from FCVH telling me I had to stop by and pay $5 for them to sign the prescription authorization they received from Chewy! I asked why and they told me because they sold it and I should buy it from them? I asked their pricing and it was $14 more than Chewy for a 6 month supply. I told them this is insanity and they can’t hold me hostage at a cost to purchase my pets medication from wherever I like...that their focus should be on my dogs health, not getting rich on his meds. They basically said “so sad, too bad”. So I paid the $5 but I also now have a new veterinary clinic for my dog which does not have such shady business practices and not out to rip me off!!!! Adios Florida City Veterinary Hospital...!!!
