Platics and lures are expensive, frozen baits are always horribly freezer burnt and the people that work there seem like they're just bothered by the customers. I get you guys have a lot of dummy tourists that come in but for the locals it's just bad business.. my business will be taken elsewhere. Not trying to hurt anyone's money but if you don't care why do you have a bait shop?

I can almost guarantee these 5 star reviews are lies. They are either 1) Made up by the employees/owner or 2) people that were paid to write fake reviews. If you have ever walked into this business and even gotten a hello or smile from anyone then count yourself lucky. Not only do they not know how to treat customers but their people skills are plainly said HORRIBLE. I’ve gone there on three occasions. Once with my dad once with my boss and he nice with my children. All three times I felt unwelcome and was told to leave. Only tried to buy shrimp for fishing. “Half dead by the way” but besides the point I am mind blown as to how this business stays afloat. No one wants to go back and that is sad because this could be such a tight knit community. Al told my boss to get his black A$$ out of of his shop and didn’t need his business over a question about the dead shrimp. Mind blowing. My father “the nicest person on earth probably went in with a smile and left being treated with the worst attitude ever simply for being happy. Me and my kids are Hispanic and you already know that wasn’t going to go over well with the owner. And it didn’t. Not saying that’s the reason he was so rude but my assumption would be that played a roll in it since it’s happened to numerous others of color. Prejudice at its finest. It’s so sad because we even tried to make them smile and it was more of a bother. Would it hurt to be nice or even fake it for the sake of your business? Maybe, shrimp and bait aren’t his main commodity because obviously there’s no way people come back for that kind of treatment. Just my thoughts. I won’t be going back as much as I wish I could. I’ll drive the extra miles down the road for bait and tackle. It’s not worth the unhuman behavior. Some one take one for the team and give him a hug or get him laid idk 🤷‍♂️ but he needs to smile. They all do that anger is contagious.

I bought a rod and reel for my son, used it twice in one week. The reel started malfunctioning so I took it back to ask for help with the problem. I knew from the “No Refunds” sign I was not going to get my $47 dollars back. I just ask for help fixing the reel. The old man, with bad attitude, reluctantly took the reel from, dismantled it, then tried unsuccessfully to put it back together. When he could not put the reel back together the way I brought it in. I then asked for an exchange of the same item. He looked at me and asked “what do you mean exchange?!”, “I don’t give exchanges “. I ask that he return to me the broken reel and that I would do my future tackle shopping at the “Fishin Hole” (5 Stars) in Daytona where I got better service and better price on a similar rob and reel. Customers are not always right, but if you treat them with understanding, kindness, and empty they will return to shop or buy from you, and they will certainly tell ours how they were treated at your place of business. I’m not a tourist, I live in Flagler Beach so I’ll definitely be around to tell my story to others.

The Lady with theshort hair is incredibly nasty and rude!!Im shocked by the way I was treated! She gave me a nasty look when I walked in and after waiting for five minutes another guy came in and was attended toImmediately ??When I asked if I could check out? she yelled no!!!Then puffed up and said you really want to do this!!! Like she was going to punch me.If the Owner can read this get this person some help and get her out of your store she is ruining your business!!Not to mention I go there every week for the last 3 years a spend my hard earned money.Never again.....

I am not sure how 1.5 pounds of bait shrimp cost 45.00 PLUS a credit card fee but we would have been better getting the expired shrimp from Publix up the street than this! We are pretty local too and won't be getting bait or anything else for that matter here. This place went from decent to really really bad sales ,prices and service over the last few years. Not sure what has changed but if you don't like the business you're in GET OUT.

We asked how's the fishing on the pier, sales guy said he doesn't know anything. A dishonest attempt to sell baits when he should have said the pier is closed. According to locals, pier has been closed since last summer due to a storm.

Wait can I do zero stars? I am a local and have used this shop many times. Mostly bad arrogant attitude but today was my last stop. Ordered 8 dozen fiddler crabs, when I looked at them in my cooler I thought 8 dozen is not enough. Asked for 2 more dozen. Looked like she put one more dozen. At this point I should have 120. Came home and counted. There is 90. Called to let them know. She told me go F%^* yourself. Stay far away from this business.

My young adult son and teenage daughter stopped by Big Al's while we were staying in Flagler Beach recently.My son made a purchase, however both my son and daughter described the customer service as very poor. They didn't have a good experience and felt the the gentleman working inside was rude.I understand anyone can have a bad day, but why work in a business dealing with the public if your attitude isn't pleasant? We all have a choice.

I have two separate ratings for big Al's. My son and I are regular customers. We buy most of our bait there. I believe in giving my business to the local shops whenever I can. However, money is very tight for us. So sometimes we're forced to go to Walmart because it's just the cheapest. Anyway...the reason Big Al's needs two (2) separate ratings is: 1. It is definitely a 5 star establishment when Vinny is working. He goes above and beyond the call of duty. He's not afraid to take a few minutes to talk to You and make sure You have the right bait and or equipment for where you're going to be fishing. He's a really good guy who knows his stuff. He even taught my son a few things about manners and morals. 2. When the ladies are working, I have to drop the rating down to 3 stars. They are not nearly as knowledgeable and really just seem like they don't want to be bothered.

Horrific service! Treated my brother, and another guy in the store as if we were holding up his line when we were waiting on him to ring me up. Didn't have live bait which was ok with me, but Al had a really bad attitude. I will never support his business again.

Pretty good place to go to for fresh bait.They can hook you up, (no pun intended), with what you need to catch some fish.Good people to work with!

Went in today looking for a new reel because I broke mine. Al and Joe couldn’t have been helpful in choosing one and even taught me how to set the line and everything. Recommended the right bait and hooks for my situation. Great conversation and tips for any novice. Definitely will be back. Thanks again guys. Stay safe everyone.

'Big' Al was very accommodating! I was lucky enough to try this place when he was there. He and his brother helped with a 'new' (refurbished but works like new; fixed by Big Al's) reel and taught us the basics for surf fishing beginners. He assisted with everything we could possibly need. Al is a smart man and will be blunt, but overall a genuine and awesome guy.

One star is too generous for this store. We have traveled and fished all over the world and I can honestly say that this is the WORST bait shop I have ever set foot in. Overpriced, frozen bait was rotten, live shrimp are cloudy and dying IF they even have live bait in stock. But the absolute worst part about this business is their nasty employees. They are rude, miserable people. If they are on the computer or on a personal phone call they will ignore you until finally huffing over with an attitude, offended that you interrupted them. It is amazing that Big Al' s is still in business.

Stopped here yesterday, he had shrimp when 3 other bait shops we stopped at did not, and they were cheaper! He also gave me some excellent advice that worked for me this morning on fishing the local area. Not sure why it's not rated higher, but it's a great bait store.

People there are really friendly and kind. They seem to enjoy discussing fishing with excited young children or even their adults. They sell bait (shrimp, squid, ribbon fish, mullet... etc) for really great prices. One can usually find rods and reels for cheaper if willing to drive 30 minutes into Palm Coast or Ormond.

The bait shop owner really needs to rethink who he employs in his bait shop. The current employees are very rude, and have no knowledge about fishing or customer service for that matter. You can't even ask them what kind of fish people are catching because they don't talk to their customers and they really don't care about anyone who walks in their doors. They don't appreciate the business that people give them.They are honestly lucky that there aren't more bait shops near them otherwise I think they would go out of business.

My first visit. Fishermans paradise. Has everything you need. Local information, fresh and dead bait. Tackle, Rods, Reels and all required elements. No need to go anywhere else.

Went in for bait. The women with short hair was extremely short with our questions and very rude. We clearly are new to fishing and asked some questions about fishing while we are here on vacation. She had no patience for our questions, even though we were the only people in the store, when we said we had not had luck catching bait she said well everyone else around here are not having issues, like we where dumb for even asking, she had the same snide remarks to anything we asked. We will never be back and will make sure we out the word out that it is not a people friendly establishment

Great place, small but well stocked and very helpful. I am a freshwater norther fisherman and the fella put new line on a saltwater pole for me and rigged it out for me to shore fish, You can not ask for better service than that goes a long ways for me when picking a place to do business. recommend this shop

Employees were smoking inside the shop. Planned on dropping a few hundred on new rods and reels for my boat but didn’t. Made me feel like an inconvenience the second I walked through the door. I usually like supporting local business, but my business goes to Cabellas from now on. A little courtesy goes a long way...

Called them looking for a plug for my boat and they had one , but when I got there it was the wrong on (due to my lack of knowledge of boats) , the gentleman behind the counter went to his truck and gave my his .We will be using this shop from now on.PS my daughter had a great time today because of themCan't thank you enough

Everybody that works here are either rude or they just don't do anything.- even the owner... You could walk in and their face would be stuck in a computer. They don't have a variety of anything but, liters.. And EVERYTHING is over priced. I wouldn't even give it a star if I could write a review without one.. You're better off going to Walmart or the pier if you want to stay local...
