This was my first visit to the Diving Pelican. In fact, it was the first time I have ever been to Everglades City. Reading reviews on the internet, I selected to have a late lunch at the Pelican.It was not a bad decision. The building is a joint effort between a bar and a restaurant. We entered the restaurant and were the only diners there. We were seated in the bar which was fine. It was quiet and the booths were comfortable.I selected the Grouper Francaise. It was described as pan-seared grouper in egg, lemon, and butter. It had a very good flavor but was closer to pan-fried than pan-seared. It was served on rice. It was a large dish but tasted so good I ate it all.One of my dining companions had a fried grouper dish with rice and beans. It was also filled with good flavor. It was slightly overcooked and a little dry but still tasted great.The other diner had mango salmon. It came with a mango salsa sauce and served over rice with fried plantains. Again, a very good dish.The server (Amber) was very knowledgeable about all dishes on the menu and made sure we had plenty of iced tea and water during the meal.The ambiance is informal with country music playing in the bar and an attractive decor.When in Everglades City, this restaurant is a good choice.

It is a fun, clean place, with a very nice staff!I had the frog legs, which were amazing. Tender, moist, lightly fried, no swamp flavor...just the flavor of the frog!I also had the gator. Same as the frog legs...perfect! I was very disappointed by the wings, got the dry rubbed wing, heavily fried and way over cook.Now, their specialty drinks are genius and their home brewed Diving Pelican beer was great. Same taste as ShockTop, but a little lighter on the orange and 100 times more refreshing!

We stopped for lunch and it wasn't busy at all. It's a very large, clean space with some interesting decor. We had frog legs basket. Which included a generous portion of deep fried frog legs, fries and cole slaw. The legs were tasty and tender. We also had a blackened grouper sandwich, which was good with a kick. The specialty drinks looked refreshing, but we stuck with beer and a margarita, which was very good, not too tart or sour. We finished with the key lime pie and it was more than enough for 2. They make it on-site and it was tart and creamy as it should be. Prices are comparable to beach prices and the service was excellent. There is outdoor seating too, but we didn't see it when we arrived as it's in the back.

Very clean place. Friendly staff. Aquatic decor. These folks just recovered from hurricane Ian. Next time I'm in the area, I will eat there again. Yes, they have stone crabs and they are delicious! They have a full-bar connected to the main restaurant.

We had a GREAT experience at the Diving Pelican. Rolled in with a group of 125 people and 66 cars... plenty of great paved parking in the back and front. Sit outside at the tiki bar near the water with a giant taxidermy gator overhead.. or indoors the space is clean with eclectic decor. Friendly people and our food was great. Recommend! NOTE: Must

Spending the night in Everglades City, our hotel recommended The Diving Pelican for dinner. There was only a couple choices of restaurants open.We both had the Blackened Grouper, with mixed vegetables. It was very good.Our wonderful server was Amber. She was very polite, professional & just a Sweetie. She took care of our every need!!

So glad we picked this spot for dinner on our one night stop in to Everglades City! Don't miss it. The bar tender treated us like we were family! We ordered the shrimp basket and the fish and chips and both were some of the best seafood we've had in a while,  and we have a beach house!   Cooked perfectly,  cocktail and tarter sauce made in house were a great complement to their food.   We also split the key lime pie... we'll done. We will definitly make a stop here if we come thru this way again!

Found out under new ownership. Located in Everglades City. Really cool, funky colors & chandeliers. Working on renovating huge Tiki Bar attached to the restaurant. Husband had fried shrimp basket & loved it. Shrimp were HUGE. I had grouper basket. Excellent! Fresh! With the most crispy breading that I have ever had, with corn meal!

The staff were really nice! Warming Welcome. Everyone helped around each other. The order was fresh and fast. Really nice restaurant you should visit it, if you are on the area.

After a fun day in the Everglades, we were very hungry and our guide had recommended this place. We waited about 15 minutes to put in our order, unfortunately most of it was wrong and missing half the order. Took way too long to fix the mistake of missing kid food. Then when the checks came they were wrong twice. Just was not a good experience at all. Hopefully others have a better experience while dining here. The decor was bright and vibrant though.

It was one of the few places still open after an impromptu trip to Fl City. Kitchen closes at 8pm and we arrived at 7:20pm. Our server, Kim, was friendly & attentive from the moment we walked in the door. The menu is pricey but well worth it. The seafood is fresh and the plates are prepared well. We had the shrimp scampi and fried shrimp dinner (basket). Both dishes were amazing but the fried shrimp was in the most delicious buttery breading - so light, airy, and perfect for the shrimp (crisp at 1st bite and tender on the inside). The fries were fat and had good texture. And the angel hair for the Scampi was tender, not tough, and accented with the best sauce.

horrible service. waitress was rude and only talked to us once. was also wearing a sweatshirt that said "this is my drinking and driving hoodie" which seems inappropriate and distasteful. didn't get to try the food because we waited for an hour after ordering and she wouldn't talk to us. the booth next to us had their coats in our booth and the other one had kids so loud we couldn't even hear each other talk at my table-- neither of which are the restaurant's fault but it just made the experience even more awful.

This is a rowdy bar, not a restuarant. Thought we would be seated in restuarant but were directed to bar. Other side of building was hosting a shower and center restuarant area only had a few tables not being used for dining. Acosted by drunk man upon entering. Loud, profanity in bar. We ordered and i went outside to make a phone call. Couldnt go back in right away because the drunk man was being kicked out. Friend tells me he was verbally aggressive and talking about getting his gun to shoot people. I got back inside other door as all staff on hand and some patrons removed him and waited for police. We plotted our escape out back exit in case he returned. Stuffed grouper was good. Spent meal listening to the margarita blender churn out drinks for shower attendees alternating with loud hyped up guys post removal of drunk. Not compted anything for wait and horrible atmosphere.

I was disappointed... so just 3 stars, I want try gator but this food was fried and full of oil , chicken was good .. service was little kid 🤷🏼‍♂️

The restaurant was easy to findIt was a great atmosphere. The food is very affordable with good portions. The servers here friendly and efficient. Did not have to wait long on our dinner. I recommend if ever in Everglade City to stop and dine in. 🌺

Went and had lunch got the blackened gulf grouper sandwich with fries and coleslaw that was amazing also got the chicken sandwich, hand breaded shrimp basket and crab cake all was amazing service was great very nice inside and out give them a try you won’t be disappointed you did.

Great seafood and beer. Stopped here for lunch. Test the baskets. Staff very kind. If you stay in Everglades City... Visit them.
